I guess that the answer is "not", but, who knows? i am looking for a game that allows to wander around, earning "contracts" as a hitman... with an assortment of authomatic guns, snipper guns and sidearms... to go around pew-pewing and misbehaving. Something a bit like the "free ride" mode of Mafia.
Any luck for me? |

There the Hitman series is probably the closest you'll get, but that isn't really sandbox, it just gives you options on how to kill your targets with disguises and stuff, I don't think there's anything that really matches your description aside from that, the only other sandboxy stuff I can think of that matches is:
. Freelancer ( Third Person space sim, you can at least do bounty hunting and stuff in that )
. Grand Theft Auto IV
. Mafia 2
. Fallout series? Has a lot of go here murder that dude in a sandbox world type stuff
I think Hitman is probably the one you're looking for really now you've made me want to play it because I haven't played the first one in years.

Evochron: Mercenary sounds a little bit like that, it might be a good space game in its own right also. I cannot say if its any good though because I have not bought it yet. |

Did you try APB? It's an MMO type shooter with very loose missions to go do. Some players are the police, some are the criminals. Fun vehicles, but you need to grind hard to get the better guns. They try to say that they're only a slight upgrade but they will make the difference once you get good and it's matching you vs good opponents where you're both aiming well.
EYE Divine Cybermancy might be worth a look. Deus Ex: HR +/- Skyrim, but not as large a budget as either. |

Houm, interesting suggestions... Deus Ex: HR looks interesting, if wikipedia is right about it and the boss fights are bearable... |

The new Deus Ex was fantastic, but annoyingly the ending sucks.

The boss fights are the weakest aspect of the game. If you can accept that they're there and just get through them, then the game is very good.
As for total sandboxes, There is Farcry, 2 is a love it or hate it type of game. And while not an FPS, Just cause 2 is a great do whatever you want, blow everything up sandbox. |

QFT
They are bad, scripted, and strange.
Deus Ex HR also doesn't reward you for playing it like an action game. Guards with assault rifles will die and drop their weapon with one to six rounds in it. There's a part where you need to rescue a few people from different buildings in a complex. I went in and played rambo style, wiped out all the guards and robots from three buildings, and the people I had to rescue just stood there surrounded by bodies and made me go through the story triggers to create a distraction to rescue them, followed but cutscenes full of guards.
