These things might take some time. Invstigation is required after all. So you will just have to sit and wait for it to complete. After all, they need to check if your claim to it is true, and how the account got out of your hands.

I've had my alt's account stolen/hacked once, had items removed/sold and isk transfered, didn't take long for a GM to respond. After several correspondence with the GM they managed to get my stuff/isk back, never found out what happend to the other guy though, or if they ever found out who did it.

i have had account stolen before and it is not a nice experience you willhave to rove that the account was originally yours by providing all information about the account such as name address payment type and card details that the account was paid with. after you supply all these then they give your account back. i do not know what would happen if all the stuff had been transfered off the account but i know i did not get any of the stuff back that was lost when my account was stolen. good luck

Keep in mind, that if your account was stolen, that means that the thief knows your username and password and was able to use them to log into your account and change the password. This can happen in one of several ways:
1) You have a virus/keylogger/rootkit on your machine that was used to record your user name and password and send it to the thief.
2) You accessed your account info from a PC that wasn't yours (Work PC, Library or other Public PC, friend's PC, Etc.). That PC was either infected as in #1, someone simply used a password dumper on it to pull your password from the browser cache, or you foolishly allowed the browser to save your UN and Pass, and the next person to use it simply logged in with the recorded UN and Pass.
3) You visited a website which used a cache-reading exploit to dump all your browser's saved Usernames and Passwords to the exploiter's database
4) You foolishly posted on a web forum or e-mailed your info to someone not with CCP (IE, via a Phishing e-mail)
5) Your username and password were some stupidly simple combination such as your Main char's name and a password of "123456" or "password" or something equally asinine, which allowed someone to just guess your info and log in.
Ultimately, we all have to take responsibility for the safety of your accounts. This means being smart and not doing stupid things, and also not doing things which may not seem stupid, but actually are. For example:
1) If you are running Windows, be sure that you have regularly updated anti-virus and anti-spyware, and that you SCAN EVERY DAY with them. Keep in mind, just having the AV isn't enough. You actually have to run in-depth scanns with it every day. Downloading and periodically running Rootkit Revealer helps too, as it can expose rootkits that AV won't see. (Does not necessarily apply if running Mac or Linux, but caution is always a good idea)
1a) If running Windows, be aware that it's just a good idea to run regular backups and to do a full system format and reinstall at least once a year. This helps keep your system running lean and clean, and prevents many other non-security related problems.
2) NEVER access your account from a PC you don't own. Seriously. If you can't format it, don't access your EVE account from it. Period.
3) Try to avoid using Internet Explorer, as it has many unpatched security flaws that can allow a smart attacker to steal your personal info. Use Either Firefox or Opera when in Windows. Also, avoid IE Shell browsers, such as Avant Browser, as they just sit on top of IE, and add no security. Regardless of the browser you use, always exercise caution when clicking posted links.
4) Don't be an idiot and just give out your info. CCP will NEVER ask for your info via e-mail or out of the blue, they will use the EVE-O ticketing system. Never follow links embedded in e-mails unless they are sent from someone you know who already told you they would be sending the link.
5) Use a different username on your account than the one your main char has, and use a strong password. (One with at least 8 characters, using upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols) to prevent random guesses. Also, change your password at least once per year.
It's not hard to prevent this type of thing, it just takes a little thought and care.
Good luck with your petition!

Be prepared to wait a month-plus until you get access to your account back. This is from the experience of one of my corpmates whose account got compromised alongside his forum login info for our internal forums, which led us to believe that keylogging of some sort was involved. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |
