The EVE Fanfest 2007 is now over and we're all starting to get back to our lives, eagerly awaiting the next Fanfest of course.
We'd like to know what you all thought of the Fanfest, what was good, what was bad and what can be improved for next year. We'd also like to hear your Fanfest stories, so please share! And don't forget the pictures for those of you who brought cameras!
We hope we'll see you all next year, and hopefully those of you who couldn't make it this year will join us then for 3 days of Fanfest!

I had a great time, was great to meet players and devs alike, it was my first fanfest and it sure as hell won't be my last.
Was great to meet corp/alliance mates and old enemys and just get to know people, I did have a running theory for a while though that it was impossible to get drunk in Iceland, after drinking unfeasably large amounts and feeling wide awake and sober.
Icelands really nice, and the people seemed really friendly everywhere I went. Nightclubs in the centre are tiny though.
Presentations were good, and it was good to be able to hold devs down and ask them questions (I feel really sorry for Zulu, who incidently is a top fella, and I meant to buy him a beer but forgot, he'll have to remind me next year)
I've come home with some great stories to tell my corp and alliance mates, and i'm sure there will be more of us there next year now.
To all those I met, missing you already and see you all again in 12 months.

Edited by: Saladin on 05/11/2007 13:56:05 I can't believe I waited 4 years to come to the fanfest. It was simply amazing, even with Icelandair losing my luggage.
I was amazed (in a good way) at the general attitude of the CCP team. They were all too willing to poke fun at themselves and didn't take themselves too seriously. I loved the presentation that showed pics of the moustache strike of 2002.
See you guys next year.

Holy mother of all parties that was the best 3 days i've had in a while.
Highlights...
Sat in the Blue Lagoon during a mini-hurricane. Supposed to be a placid lake, when we were there, we had to endure 80m an hour winds and 3 foot waves. Awesome!
Jungle Curry. A certain alliance leader and friend who will remain nameless talked me into trying the famous Jungle Curry on the basis it "wasn't really that hot!". I should have known by the way that Stavros kept laughing that I was being lied too. By mouthful 15 i was almost in tears and had to give in and order a glass of milk to take the burning away. It was stinging my lips to breathe at this point.
Meeting friends old and new. Saladin, Delictum guy (sry name escapes me), Seleene, Zulupark, Alhaquis, Hilmir, Hellcore, Captain Rikdik and countless others.
Met Kieron (sound guy) in the hotel lounge at 4 am after the first night and the night after some beardy White Wolf guy who was really quite cool.
There was so much going on i missed half of it but the bits i could get too were awesome. Talking to the devs on such a close basis about the game they clearly love was just effing awesome.
Iceland is a beatiful beautiful place and i am already saving for next years FF. I know I am going out earlier next year and plan on spending a week there. Might try and blag some friendly dev into letting me see CCP's offices.
Oh and the trailer we got to see of Trinity 2 is mind bogglingly good. Jaw dropping eye watering sense jangling nerve tingling spank-bank material of the highest calibre. Sorry to be so vulgar but thats just how good it is.

It was Absolutely fantastice met some awesome peeps swapped stories and experiences over a beer and pizza,
The preview of the new graphics was Awe inspiring
Spent some time with MC and BoB - you guys rock, nice peeps to know, but above all its great to see the passion for Eve not only in the players there but in the CCP staff and volunteers (Eve TV rocks)
Which shows in the way they talked about Eve and worked damn hard to make FanFest happen.
The wife who attended as a Sister of Eve member was absolutely enthralled by what she saw and thoroughly enjoyed the activities presented to her which included a excursion on the friday and saturday.
Absolutely no negatives only positives to talk about and remember.
Thankyou you all for making 2007 another great year in Eve.

This was my first EVE Fanfest, and IÆm so happy that I went there. It was awesome; especially the Trinity previews took my breath awayà WOW!
To the players who havenÆt been at a Fanfest yet, I can only say: ôGo there next year, you wonÆt regret it!öà
I have a little request though. After HilmarÆs Keynote, and during the Q&A session, there was an ôEVE Foreverö wallpaper on the projectors, and I really think it wasàMOZO!!!! Any chance of us ordinary mortals getting hold of that wallpaper?!?
High lights of the Fanfest were: -The Exotic Dancer song (sorry about the quality, the cameraman was drunk)à -... and the Golem Design Workshop 1, 2, 3

Edited by: Zajo on 05/11/2007 18:05:53 I'd like to thank CCP for the most uber time. It was awesome and I will most definately do my best to show up next time. A special thanx goes out to all the female devs who tried their very best to make this experiance special for all the female players in EVE. The coctail party was a blast. We started out with 10-15 bottles of sparkling strawberry whine and three hours later (all bottles empty) several females left that room a bit more intoxicated than when they went in. Was nice to meet the ppl you play with and the ppl behind the game so thanx to everyone that showed up. If I could I would write down everyone that made a lasting impression on me but unfortunatly several names has slipped my mind (I blame the dev's that ran around giving out free beer tokens all the time) but a few I do remember is Paniq (lots of love), Winterblink, Vegeta and Mitchman (my fellow partners in crime), Trevedian and Eddz (great story tellers and extremly funny dudes), the two crazy pirate dudes and so many many more.
Will never forget the trip to the Blue Lagoon, I was promised a soothing and relaxing time but it was all but that as you can read in Viqer Fell's post. Huge waves and the horizontal rain made the experiance memorable. Still I do not regret going there.
Best day has to be the last one, all the amazing presentation and final the best party ever. Our little group left around 01.00 (I think) for a night in town. Several more beer and loads of dancing (Oveur showed up and proved he don't only give great presentations but he also is a hell of a great dancer) later we finally got home around 07 in the morning.

This was my first Fanfest, and i must say i had a blast! I'd like to thank Star Fraction for letting me hang out with them, excellent group they are!
The presentations were great and got me very stoked about what's coming in the future (especially with Trinity). Discussions about ambulation and the future of heat were great as well. It's great to see how CCP and the community are able to communicate to make the game better for everyone.
One thing i would like to say though. Access to tranquility was quite limited, there were only two machines where one could go to log in. I know that the point of fanfest isn't to go to iceland just to log on, but there did seem to be quite a wait sometimes if you needed to log in to check a skill, or check up on corp/alliance members. The solution to this is up to CCP ofc, but it would be nice to have a bit more access, or somehow regulate it so you don't wait 45 minutes while someone in front of you does a mission.
All in all i had a blast! the people were great, the alcohol was plentiful, and my liver barely survived by going into a coma. I'll be returning next year for sure! ----------------------------------------------------

Actually I thought the number of machines was fine. What a waste it would be to come all the way to Iceland to sit in front of a computer screen. The wait time was an added bonus as it enabled me to socialize with other people in the line. Without it I would have not been able to say hi to Viqer Fell, played with Mapsu's carebear, discussed invention strategy with some folks from BNC and KIA, or identify other pilots I had flown with in the past. The queue is what you make of it.

This was my first FanFest and all I can say is wow. I know the hard work that went on behind the scenes and everyone at CCP worked very hard to turn out a spectacular event. But, I was seriously impressed with the fans that made it to the event.
I dont think that I have been to an event with people as passionate about a game as you all are! It was great talking with people about their thoughts and experiences in Eve.
I have to admit my favorite part other than the party of course was the PVP tournament! I do not think that you could have scripted a better PVP finals than having two teams fighting it out with exactly the same ships. It was right down to the wire and for the first kills, it had people on the edge of their seat. Congrats to the finalist, you guys did an awesome job. The whole pvp tournament itself was electric and my hat goes off to all of you that participated.
Oh yeah.. the Trinity trailer was fairly good too...... |

Edited by: Zuldjan on 05/11/2007 20:56:26 The fanfest was the most fun ive had in a long time.... If you never made it this year, or last, or never been at all before to a meet, then you need to get a grip of yourself.... SAVE SOME MONEY, GET YORU MATES TOGETHER AND GET THERE. It was awesome.
From the moment myself and Lanari arrived at the gate for the plane, we were having fun with guys from all sorts of alliances and corporations. And dare i say it, Goonswarm.....
Parleck of DS1 (Goonswarm) and his bro (cant remember game name), outstanding lads. Although for all you bob pilots/MC etc. I did get one up on all of you by hitting Parlek in the face with a broken vodka bottle in our hotel room (It was an accident honest!!!) Interdiction, IAC, Smash, Roadkill, CoW, BoB and sorry to say it, but Goonswarm, it was the pilots who made the fanfest what it was.
CCP thanks for hosting such an awesome event. I for one will def be back next year, hope to see lots of familiar faces. DS1, thanks for trying to recruit us to the darkside but think we'll stay on the lighter side of EVE. Ur a stand up guy tho.
Evil Synn, awesome lad, and good pilot, done us proud by joining our alliance team in the tourny. Had some awesome fights.
And if i havent tempted you all so far in coming along next year, ill leave you with a thought.
Two naked Icelandic girls in my shower while we partied with a gorgeous brunette, lots of icelandic girls in the pubs who just come and chat you up (hardly any effort required) and dare i say it, even some REALLY hot DEV girls.
P.S a link for our pics will b posted here soon.

Best 3 days I've had in ages tbph. Only thing I will change for next year is to show up earlier.
The presentations/roundtables/pvp tourny/etc. were all quite a lot of fun and you could tell that a lot of work went into making the FF. Kudos to CCP for putting on such a great event.
By far the best part though was the people. New people and everyone just drank (a lot) of beer, partied, and had a good time. Calm, Rick, Tzeer, Silas, Proteuz, Stav, Vels, John (wtf is your ig name), Shin Ra, Trev... looking forward to next year.

i had a great time and i have to agree with the person above me there was some awesome looking dev girls there even those that came in disguise (Eris you where spotted, but i didn't come and say hello thought there was a reason you where in disguise), then again hell all the lasses there looked gorgeous and i dont just mean at the FF i mean in the entire country (you lucky dogs you), i will be coming back but this time for 2 weeks, i would have stayed at the party on saturday longer but i had a flight really early in the morning,
i do have a couple of things to put to you guys though, 1. the jita area needs to be bigger next time. 2. get some Viking in Tuborg tastes like dishwater compared to that. 3. more prizes events and things we can enter even though i did like the live agents touch that was pretty good i have some on video which im waiting on uploading. 4. maybe have a night out on the friday night scheduled like a club/pub or something, a place with drinking and of course music, i would sign up for that in a heartbeat and im not a big clubber type person
with the exceptions of these things above i had a great laugh glad i came for the week, gonna have to be 2 weeks next year.
P.S. winter has uploaded my pic take a guess which one i am

Wow it was a very srange experience for me. I managed to injure my foot just before coming so was limping the whole time and in agony. At the same I have been taking medication for craziness (to keep things short) which meant I couldn't drink alcohol so the massive budget I had allocated for drinking was sitting around doing nowt, its amazing how few people (none) took up the offer of a free drink or two. I put signs up and even made myself look an absolute ijeet with a handwritten note "talk to me and I will buy you a beer" and various things and still no one wanted one.
I kind of feel actually that maybe my pills weren't working too well lol

Second fanfest for me and it was bigger and better this time around. The highlights? -No internet access in my hotel room like last year, so I got out and met more people! -No smoking in venues! -Cute Dev girl greeting me when I arrived on Thursday -The Blue (in the face!) Lagoon -Totalhelldeath 2: The Return! -Ambulation and Trinity 2 are just beautiful -Dinner at Vox, try the lamb -Roxor!
Thanks CCP for a fantastic Fanfest, probably won't be able to go next year, I'm already disappointed about it!

[Winterblink I stole a photo of yours and macro'd it, it's on the photo thread].
I loved every minute. I turned up not knowing anyone and made 4 new friends that I'll keep in touch with and several others who I may fly with in the future. I think I'll spend more time before and/or after, next year, seeing more of Reykjavik and environs.
Someone kicked me on the shin in Glaumbar on Friday because I took his pic with a flash but I was so drunk I may be misremembering.
It was absolutely ******* awesome (not the kicking). I am hooked and will be back next year. I loved every minute. I loved the PvP contest even though we went out in round 2 pity it wasn't longer.
The only negative was nothing to do with ccp, I kind of thought having an EVE TV VIP area was not a good idea. It's elitist and excludes the majority, it only creates resentment in my opinion. I certainly felt there was a special club for BoB insiders.

And like all the others have said it doesn't get much better than chatting with the Devs about a game we all love so much, and then partying with them till the wee hours of the morning. I'll definitely be back next year.

I wonder though... how did you(someone) manage to print out the WRONG alliance logo for me?! haha srsly is it that hard?
One think though... You should have sold bottled water at the party as well rather than forcing us down to the toilets to get water... and imo those "energy drinks" was rather weak... you need more vodka in them.

Had an awesome time at the fanfest, really cool to see all those people irl. It was the 1st time for me and I'm sure i'll be there next year too! :D One point of criticism though... the catering! Could you please hire an external catering company next year? Pizza and pre-packaged gassed up sandwiches didn't cut it for me

As my CEO called out above we had a blast. Props to CCP for a great fanfest. I was drunk straight through from Wednesday until I got home on Sunday. There was a guy with short red hair (not sure of his name) who should get the most ****ed at fanfest award. I am super suprised that he could walk .
Thanks to the TFUNK crew for a great time all pictured below.
I will be going again next year. TFUNK Raiding Gang
My only feedback would be that some of the travel packages were not very well timed. I will be doing what I did last year and booking it myself. Rgds

Highlights:
Getting very, very drunk with CCP and the Red Skull guys at Glaumbar on Friday night. Being in Reykjavik for the first time. Certainly not the last. Meeting all the cheerful CCP folks. Getting to see the Mac client running on a 30-inch screen.
Lowlights:
That effing wind and rain. Leaving. The cost of alcohol and pretty much everything else in Iceland. Not getting to eat whale.

I'm glad I managed to escape a lot of pictures (although I'm in one of the biggest) because i was hammered most of the time.

Edited by: Bull Frog on 06/11/2007 15:33:31 The only thing that I didn't appreciate about Fanfest was the PvP Tourney being all in one day, so to be in it you had to miss all the presentations. Sadly I had to opt out at that point.
Other than that it was great to meet the players, and the pictures and videos are coming guys, I opened my luggage and any excess space was packed with empties... so I guess I know why I have a hangover on top of my Jetlag.
The only other thing about Fanfest is that you meet all these people that you have loved to hate for years, now I don't want to shoot anyone that I met.

Note to CCP - can we get bigger and more prominent character name badges next year? It's truly painful to have to try to remember to ask to study someone's badge while happy on that lovely beer you had there, rofl.

Totally excellent few days. My only complaint is that it really needs to have an extra day maybe for the pvp tournament so you don't miss the other stuff. The other issue is SHC. Pleeeeeease tell me why I was shouting "UGANDA" at 2am on Saturday night. Uh yeah. Drink.
I recorded shed-loads of stuff that is being streamed from my station regularly (with more to come) and also, if you don't want to listen to my station which is fine, you can download the recordings processed so far from here.

To maximize the possibility, I have made sure to touch every possible surface in the house... and then some.
Ate at the Sea Baron, went to a play at the National Theatre, and went to Kringlan Mall. Aside from experiencing the near-worthlessness of the US Dollar, I had a great time here and ALMOST don't want to go home.
The Fanfest was really great. It was cool to see it mentioned on Game Tivi and in the Morgunbladid.

Looking back on it i dont think i should have bothered with a hotel room, as i barely for 4 hrs sleep the whole time i was there.
Although as zuld said the naked icelandic chicks in the shower made it slightly more worthwhile...even if it did mean the raiding of the mini-bar...lol

On the minus - It was hard for an "occasional player" to understand half of the conversations, appreciate the PvP tournament, get someone to talk to. On the plus - The presentations were fine, the Roundtables great, I liked the Agent Missions (great idea!), I had absolutly no problem enjoying the big party
(Why attend the Fan Fest if not a dedicated player? - Well, I might have learned something, I was curious to what you looked like )

From start to finish I had an absolutely fantastic time. I definitely will come to Reykjavfk for the next Fest.
I am struck by how close and friendly the EVE community became at the Fest. So many people came up to me just to chat (ok most of them wanted my picture, but they stayed and chatted too:). I met so many people with whom I will keep in touch. And I am so excited about the directions in which EVE is being taken by the senior management team.
The party on Saturday night was one of the best I've ever been to.
I loved Iceland, loved the Fest, and the only regret I have is that it took me this long to find time to come out.
I have pictures up from the Fanfest here. I have other pictures from the rest of my trip here and here, if anyone's interested.
CCP- Many, many thanks for putting this event on!

What a week, I'm still hungover
Great to see my fellow BoB guys, our table in Jita was not a pretty sight most mornings. Certainly glad I came for the whole week, the Wednesday night set the tone for the rest of it. Also it was great to meet so many other guys and girls from other alliances too, yes even Goons. Plenty of awesome memories, not to mention anecdotes that will probably break the forum filter.
Sadly my camera broke on me, so if anyone has pics of me or people I talked to, just send me an evemail

Great FanFest this time as well! The only downside for me was not enough time between presentations to get lunch/dinner (I for one didn't like the pizzas from Dominos...). Time to start saving money for next year.
Not that many pictures taken by me but... Linkage

What more needs saying, a GREAT Time. For those that couldn't be there Unf*cking lucky for those that were there it was a great experience and one I'll bear the scares of forever (Cheers Zuldjan)
All in all the weekend was pretty amazing, the presentations, PvP tournament (Not that I was in it for long!) and the drinking (Hangovers that'll stay with me for a long time)
There were plenty of people to say hi to and even BOB players to talk to (Bone from Ulster) Zuldjam and Lanari from Veritas Immortalis to mention just a few. There were loads of devs who were happy to talk to us mere mortals and I must thank one for the Shirt, it suits me!
Top weekend. Perhaps next year we could have some wifi access as this would provide a great opportunity to PvP with friends old and new!

I happened to be the OTHER person with them that had the jungle curry. I did like it bit hot. IT is a must try if you go to that thai place! Still need to pod that certan alliance leader for another reason tho :).
Loved the fest. Deff gonna try and come next year but for the love of god plz have it in the summer thats the time of year i REALLY want to be out of town.
Went to the blue lagoon that first night that was really something 80mph winds ,freezing rain, made it really something but i loved it tho. We need for those at next years fest I surivied the Blue Lagoon 2007. I would love it if we do the Blue Lagoon again next year. Oh and to answer Oveur I was there till tuesday evening. Was great to be in the presance of the mighty Chribba. One last final note Crysis eat your f***ing heart out here comes eve trinity 2. Cause god wow is it a beauty.

As with many who have already posted, my first FF was a great experience.
My favorite memories:
- Running into all sort of EVE addicts at the airport bar in Minneapolis waiting for Iceland Air to show up.
- Listening to some guy from Iceland explain to me that it usually isn't that windy in Iceland while I am looking out the window at the rain coming down sideways.
- The roundtable with the GMs - thanks Xhagen! - who definitely care and really give the game a high level of fairplay others wish they had.
- Dr. Economics - great presentation and roundtable - even some of the pew-pewers understood it.
- The British gal at the party in her pink schoolgirl pirate outfit - YARRLICIOUS!
- Enjoyed chatting with Oveur at 3AM or whatever time it was at the party. And yes TOTALHELLDEATH is a better expansion name than Trinity no matter what you say.
Things I learned:
- Bring a damned camera. What was I thinking?
- Not all bars there charge $15 a drink (we found the good local joints that actually had women and cheap beer in them simultaneously).
- Doing ISK/Dollar conversion math in my head gives me a headache.
Anyways, the CCP guys are really approachable and enjoyable to talk to and they are very interested in what players have to say. I'd recommend FF to everyone.

This fanfest was so good it makes me wish i would have kept my ticket last year, I'm still trying to figure out how I ended up on stage with my friends by my side and three devs asking if they could spawn me some goodies. Two thumbs up to the roadkill team for an awesome fight, they definatly deserved to win. The big party on saturday was great or atleast the parts I remeber(guess you shouldnt give free beer to 12 year olds). Also loved to see all the stuff about trinity and ambulations. Thanks ccp for a great FF.

Edited by: Leandra Anor on 08/11/2007 03:31:53 Here are my pics: Fanfest 2007 If anyone knows names for people that I don't have listed or have ?'s for... please let me know!! I was um.... a bit drunk at times....
What I liked:
- 1. meeting people
2. the roundtables were awesome. I loved hearing other players ideas and whether CCP had thought of them already and why they had been discounted or whatever. I loved seeing that notes were taken and feeling like I was being heard. 3. the presentations were great too (what I got to see that is....) 4. the party rocked!
What needs changing:
- 1. Need to seperate things out more! There were alot of presentations and roundtables that I missed because they were at the same time as something else. :(
2. The roundtables should be filmed so everyone can hear what is talked about. 3. The way the party was done, everyone kinda just split afterwards instead of continuing the fun. 4. bigger nametags? Was hard to find people without just randomly grabbing someones tag and looking at the name.
This being my 1st fanfest experience I have no basis to judge on past performance, but I can say with authority that I had a fantastic time! I look forward to attending again next year and this time I will be taking more pics. I also plan to get there early again, but this time to actually GO on some tours.... lol
The Blue Lagoon was amazing and wierd at the same time.... lol the sleet had me wow'd and the waves were awesome! Definitely a unique experience and I agree with a previous poster that we need "I survived the EVE Blue Lagoon trip 2007!" shirts!
Big thanks to the MC crew (specially War Bear) who made sure I got to my hotel safely after the party. Great to put faces and expressions with names I've known (Seleene, Cypherous, Roam, Artemis, Avalloc, Tyrrax, Zajo, and many more) and great to make new friends.
Is it November 2008 yet?

I would like to say thank you to CCP for all the hard work which undoubtedly went into the organising and running of this years fan fest. I can honestly say that it is the best weekend I have ever had. To meet other people who are passionate about this marvelous universe we all inhabit is a wonderfull thing. I will definately be back next year if i am not mopping floors in CCP headquartes for free by then.

It was a thrill to be in Iceland for FanFest!
I guess my only real suggestion would be for there to be a few more PCs. Being a Yank, and not a regular world traveler, it would be nice to have some conduit to reach out to the rest of the world on occasion.
Highlights:
* Reclaiming the CVA 'Jita' table and setting it up in the Star Fraction area * Being interviewed for EVE TV * The Mosh Pit during the Rage Against the Machine song on Saturday night * Dancing with StevieSG

THE RED SKULL ALLIANCE - OFFICIAL ANNOUCEMENT
After four months of top secret planning, The Red Skull Alliance sent its operatives to the Eve-Online 2007 FanFest . Their mission was fiendishly simply, send a small team of covert operatives to Iceland, infiltrate the FanFest using deep cover identities and take down CCP on their own patch.
The cover story: We decided the best way for our strike force to integrate with other FanFest attendees by pretending to be drunken nerds. Clearly only a few Red Skull agents were physically capable of maintain this type of cover story for a prolonged period so we selected Stylom, Trevedian and Psyman as a three man gang.
Tango One: We decided that rather than fight a sustained battle we would attempt to æcut the head off the snakeÆ .......yes, indeed, we were gunning for the CCP CEO... ôHilmarö. We assigned the call sign of Tango One to the unsuspecting target and prepared for battle.
Mission Report:
Day one (Thursday): Our operatives decided to get their ælegendsÆ in play by taking up position in the bar area and generally getting plastered. We then moved to the blue lagoon which was deep in zero-zero and an ideal ganking location. Unfortunately laggy weather conditions made for tricky flying, but undeterred the Red Skull gang patrolled the windswept tidal waves for an hour until hypothermia set in. No sightings were made of our primary target, but a great evening was had by all.
Day two (Friday): Tempting as it was to field a strong team in the PVP tournament, The Red Skull gank squad stayed in character and hit the bar hard. At the same time as drinking a skinful of beer they boys had a whale of a time running storyline missions. After a six hour downtime at the Hotel, the attack team head to Glaumbar to set up a gate camp. Fuelled with copious amounts of Tequila and Beer our team anxiously looked for the primary target but there was no sign of him. The strike force couldnÆt believe when Oveur appear from nowhere and joined them in their space. A council of war was hastily convened but after much discussion our agents decided not to call him as target.
Day three (Saturday): Our trio of operatives were starting to feel under pressure, only a few sightings of Hilmar had been made to date. Furthermore even when we did manage to æeyeballÆ the CCP CEO he was always flanked by hoards of Dev & ISD bodyguards. Our strike force felt the only way to play it was was to attend the excellent presentations, whilst always maintaining a drunken presence in the bar area. We were relying on being able to catch Hilmar when he undocked from one of the presentations.
Clearly the mission would take excellent communications with the attack force split between multiple locations. Towards the end of the day a Text Message was sent from our spotter stationed in the Bar. Hilmar was flying unescorted through the bar area. Our heroes managed to tackle Hilmar using a talk bubble, we moved our support ship into position and the damage dealer got into optimal range next to Hilmar. After three days of excellent fun & espionage The Red Skull had one shot of podding Hillmar. Use the flowing link to watch the take down.
Hilmar Podded
Party at the top of the world: The Red Skull boys were jubilant after podding Hilmar. The three days had been hard work but excellent fun. We partied the night away to the fine tunes smashed out by Roxor and then retired to the Hotel at day break to break open the Bubbly.
Mission Report Ends:
Love and respect to the unwitting people who help The Red Skull in their undercover mission. .....remember everyone cries the first time

Well, I planned on making this my one-and-only Fanfest. Pfffft, right. Far too much pure win for me not to go again next year (especially since there's supposed to be direct flights from Canada next year \o/)
Thanks to CCP for a great event, and an evil, eeeevvviilll closing party (I almost skipped the tour I had scheduled on Sun AM due to my hangover)
Just as good though, were the extra days I spent in Iceland (I finally left on thursday), took the Saga Circe, Golden Circle, and Reykjivik Grand Excursion tours, and went to the Blue Lagoon again...so I could see it without the howling winds.

My great memories from Fanfest:
Hanging out with all of my "enemies" and finding out most of them were decent guys. *waves at PieGuy and Scagga
It was great to meet someone, have a few laughs and drinks and then say "so who are you anyway" and check their pass. I had a few "Ugh! your a @#$%*& Fractionite?!" followed by a few friendly kicks to the shins, but more often it was "Star Fraction?! Cool!" with beer or shot purchased for me.
Thursday night, we were hanging out at the Nordica bar with our new-found friend Krandor from Black Mesa. We start chatting with three nice Brits (double fisting pints as it's happy hour) who we then find out are Taurus Inc. ... who have just been in a three month war with Black Mesa and (from what I gathered) walloped Krandor but good. Good times and laughs all around!
The Icelanders were very friendly, hospitable and all of them spoke English which was great because my Icelandic sucks! More than once someone told me they love the USA which rocked, (I didn't think anyone did anymore) but that they think our President is an idiot. (which also rocked )
It seemed like every native that I spoke to had to be sure I tried Brenevin, often on their ISK.
Icelanders really know how to party. My single best memory is Hakel coming to find me in the Celtic Cross and telling me to leave because it was 6am. There were more people in the bar at 6am then at 2am when we arrived! (Hakel was a most awesome local guide for SF too! Thanks again Hakel!)
The only bad part I'd say was that the US$ sucked there! (~$1.70 to 100ISK and a burger was $1,500ISK!) I found myself waking up each morning, running conversions through my pounding head. The calculations were worse than the hangover! I met the very cool Dev in charge of the economy (A big Viking dude with a Mohawk -sorry I forgot your name man, but you were cool!) and he told me everyone's money sucks in Iceland, including their own What the hell, it' is a vacation afterall, but I'll be prepared for next year.
I don't think you can say you've really been to FanFest unless you've had a beer with Oveur.

Fanfest 2007
A word from me - a word to all A word of Fanfest - of fond recall. To those just met and friends of old To brave Blue Lagooners surviving the cold.
In ones and twos, we gathered near Nervous or calm, but all of good cheer. Enemies, Devs, and friends alike Discussing finer points of the game we like.
Debates of tactics, nerfs and bans And the lag caused by decorative cans. PvP tournaments, live missions, and roundtables Took place amoung tables, hardware and cables.
Claims of "HE'S Zulupark" drew hisses and boos Eris Discordia said "I even shoot blues" Xhagen and his mohawk expounded with might Oveur drank and then danced all the night!
MC and the bees formed an unholy alliance BoB sat and watched with quiet defiance FIX proclaimed "We are not pets - we swear!" SMASH's new "weapon" danced MC a dare.
Female gamers of EVE gathered (yes we DO exist) Which caused the roundtables near to be p1ssed. BoB and Goonswarm bought each other beers Amarr and Matari RPers exchanged many cheers.
Suas brought his guitar and sang a Seleenade And Tyrrax in his pimp hat was plying his trade. Seleene had his meetings - no need to say who Dianabolic became a "frozen corpse" - does that make him blue?
Fanfest drew to a close with a great deal of grief Most of us felt the time was too brief. Enemies became friends and new friends were found And through a common experience all of us were bound.
Written as tribute to Fanfest 2007. I had a fantastic time! Thanks and hugs to all I met and a special thanks to CCP for hosting it! Thank you CCP! Fanfest 2007 rocked!!

Oh hey, didn't see this thread.
This was my second fanfest, and while last year was fantastic, this year was even better. Everyone we met were really nice, especially IAC and MC were really cool. CCP did a fantastic job, the Jita area turned out to be a great idea, and the fanfest was just taken to another level this year. Fantastic work.
The only thing I disliked about the fanfest (which I also disliked last year) was the party Saturday. The format is kind of an anticlimax compared to the rest of the fanfest. We left pretty quickly to go sing karaoke, only to bump into some CCP people later, oddly enough. Glumbar was an excellent choice for official bar Thursday and Friday though.
Overall though, had a great time and I suspect we'll be back next year.

Fantastic time guys. And its nice to see a new country.
Iceland is a place of stark beauty, a lot of it reminded me of Scotland but ofc we dinnae exactly get volcanoes over here.
Considering I have played Eve for so long this visit to Fan Fest was long overdue. Gm Xhagen initially struck me as a scary chap but my god hes a brainy one you have there CCP.
Managed to get teddy bear hug from Macayle, yay!
Got to meet Zapatero from EON, and apologised for not giving him more writings. Aim to solve this in the future.
Met quite a few friends and enemies alike. And despite our difference in EVE we are a pretty great bunch overall.
Alliance Leader presentation went down well, even if my nerves do show. The word "Basically" has become synomynous with me in my alliance. Well, at least its better than them sayign teacake to me all the time.

A big thank you to CCP for a fantastic event. We had a great time. At least what we can remember...
Here are my pictures from the event. Enjoy!

By the way, where was RealX this year? I would have loved to hear him play on Saturday night.

impressions, opinion, experiences ... My first FanFest.
The first day - Thursday - was not good at all, for me. I just couldnt break into any conversations - I had come alone, I am an occasional player. I choose a round table for newbies and missed what probably would have the best presentation for me pvp guidelines. Cant be in two places at once. The weather over Blue Lagoon wasnt helping, and after 1+ hours in the bus back, the drinking place was closed to EVE folks that night (some one had gotten "too happy"?)
The second day was a bit better, I played a little the Mission/agent thing (that was a great idea! And well done by the Agents) tried to understand the tournament. I had a brief and enjoyable visit in the CCP offices (connections, connections) and got to the late day presentations in Tranquiliy which were "better" than the day before (mentioning the CCP-gameshow (how Pirates train ). Still, would have been nice if I had met someone to share beer with instead of heading home early (I usually dont have problems at IT conferences to socialise).
Third day - I did several round tables (and thanks to the Bug-hunters for hints), the presentations were good (mentioning: CCP history, Q&A session and "just learn to get along"), and even got to talk to several, as people must have gotten used to my apperance (). And as the evening wore on and we neared the party .... Party Party !! Well arranged!
The venue was very good, even internet access, chairs and stuff, a wide variety of things (ie not only presentations but also stalls, shop, roundtables, CCG stuff ...)
I spent all-in-all-and-everything Ç800 on this trip. (I was worried about airport security and my 4 phials of Vitoc in the transparent bag ... NP) I score it at 7/10. That said, I am very happy I did come, it did show me which way to go to make the game more exciting. I've started another account, and "playing with myself" that way it does make EVE-life more varied. I'll come again next year if I have stared playing more seriously or I am there with other of my Corp.
Minor improvements: Announce door opening times, so we dont have to wait outside.
