Hi all,
Nale's conscience is beginning to bother him, which is bad at the best of times and gets no better when someone's tossing things at you.
Also, thanks to those who came to the reading at Fanfest, and to everyone whose hand I shook over the last few days. It was good to meet you guys.
Oh, and one more thing: Those "skittish, frightened men with a terrible darkness about them"? After Black Mountain is done, we'll get at least one story involving them.

Excellent read Abraxas!
Getting some insight into the Angel's and the repercussions of when you attack a Angel installation. Never shot at the mining colonies before but never gonna do now. Going to be good to see how all this will pan out in the end. Keep it up

Another addition to a detailed series. It feels like we know the characters by now. Keep it up because I am looking forward for the nature of evil and these hallucinations.

Very nice read, though I do see a growing romantic relationship with the Hona and Nale, though it seems also that Nale is some kind of amazing talent for avoiding things, and a natural leader.
But I see a little paradox atm, Sister's and Society of Thought, seem at first glance as sisters being good, and society being bad, but I really find it complete opposite, where Sister's somewhere have alternative motives, that are manupliating the ground people, while The society, wants it destroyed, I find this to seem like that there's really no good or evil, but seems like a more a Light basis faction could be said, to be The Society, because destroying is a clear motive of getting rid of it for good. While the sister's there something going on that just doesn't seem, right, if you can give us a little hint, like at least a word, it would very helpful in understanding this paradox of human constructs minds in this most wonderful fiction..

Or would Nale dodge strait into the path of the knife thinking it was aimed where he was
Great story, keep them coming.

Love this series of shorties, great read, and I love the "shades of grey" approach you have toward Sisters, Society and the Angels...

Can we have a central 'uber' link for this chronicle? is there one already?
Cheers

Great stuff man! the chronicles are what got me into the game in the first place, they really bring it to life, and this ones a real winner. Especially love the way you bring the Angels to life, really gives them some depth other than watching them blow up in random asteroid fields...... keep it coming!

In Draea's defence, throwing a knife at someone's head from a fair distance is quite hard (not that I'd know too much about this). But yeah, aim is definitely an achilles heel of hers.

We'll see what happens after we've published all the instalments. Due to how self-contained the instalments have to be, they're not going to read as well as a natural novella when read back to back.

I'll do better: In the coming weeks I'll publish two BM chronicles that specifically explain what's been happening with the Sisters and with the Society that led them down this path. And you're quite right about Nale, and about him & Hona.

Thanks. After Black Mountain I'm planning to delve deeper into other pirate factions. I'm fascinated by life in the Blood Raider faction, and by how the Sansha - not just the True Slaves of the Nation, but the entire battery, including regular helpers - manage to function. There's potential in both factions for some incredibly raw fiction.

I'm slightly ambivalent on this, to be honest. Remember that in the final analysis, these people are pirates. Their living comes from drug smuggling, extortion and murder, and in the case of the Blooders, kidnapping people and sucking their blood out. They do need to be filled out a little bit, but I don't want to see the pirate factions made too sympathetic, especially when you've done such a good job making a lot of them really compelling villains, the Blooders, the Serps, and the Guristas in particular.
Now, groups that live in nullsec but aren't blatantly piratical, like Mordu's Legion or the Thukkers, I'd love to see them made a bit more sympathetic. -----

I don't think Draea actually missed her - she still managed to kill her and make it look as though she had missed. Someone was mentioning to her that she shouldn't try to 'make her mark' when she should just kill them and get on with it. Her knife slicing the woman and then landing on the wall could be seen as her expressing herself.

the rubber bullet gun reminds me of the beanbag gun used in "My Name is Earl" in last night's episode.
Randy used it on Earl and hit him, he only had one shot, so he loaded it with a Beer can, end ended up hitting someone in a chair knocking him unconcious.

Just read it. The good guys work for the good faction with bad motives, and the bad guys work for the bad faction with good motives.
Now I read the next two to see if I'm right!
