I'm planning on starting a new industry corp in eve, I will aim to maximise profits. So is profit maximisation a realistic object for industry corps in eve?

Edited by: Daeva Vios on 06/11/2007 01:55:58 I personally don't work for profit maximisation because I believe in profit maximization.
Industry and profit have never gone hand in hand, even less so when you're off by one letter because of a simple difference in spelling preference due to your dialect not being the basis of the metalanguage.

SO, what do you mean by maximising profits?
Are you trying to maximise profit/time or profit/sale?
What makes you think that there is a maximum to profits?
Are you going to scan every cargo vessel heading for your station, and gank competitors?
Are you going to inflate demand for your products by hiring mercs to destroy the things you make, after they have been bought, so that people need more new ones?

This is definetely an interesting concept. I mean, do you in general try to achieve less than you could?
But, I'd say don't maximise your profits. I'll buy them for 10% less than the current price, tyvm.

I see maximisied profit to be when MR = MC, so there is always profit to be maximised. I'm still trying to work out eve economy and if it is anything like real economies. I have only just started looking in to the eve economy so I have no idea if the eve economy in EVE works anything like real life economies. |

It does not. All the thing that make real life real do not exist in Eve thus if the economy is screwed up people won't starve, won't freeze, and won't die. However the level of stupidity, and arrogance, in the Eve version of the economy exceeds real life by magnitudes.

The former is likely a contributer to the later.
Regardless the later is undoubtably true.

Which makes the eve economy so much fun. You can try really stupid things to "see if there might just be some way that this can work" and all you stand to lose is some monopoly money.

Profit maximization is possible in all corporation types. Just make sure you know what the most profitable uses of your acquisitions are, and that you can actually engage in those uses. *** Si non adjuvas, noces (If you're not helping, you're hurting) Improve Share Transfers |
