Ed: Crosstrain, I recommend Gallente. ^_^ You know this.

If you want to solo in bigger ships Gallente/Minmatar are your best bets. Gallente shares hybrids, Minmatar missiles so you can have some of your sp carry over.

Kestrel ? Crow ? Flycatcher ? Armor tank EW raven ? Never-get-a-lock-on-me Scorp ? Cerberus Blaster Moa/eagle Drake/Nighthawk to fight things that dont need to be webbed ?
Just throwing ideas =p All those are decent IMO, maybe not absolute best but ... Now everybody is gonna scream CALDARI SOLO = NO NO ! Maybe thats cuz they repeat what they heard.
EDIT : Oh yeah ! how could I forget the crow and dictor !

It's doable of course, but it's also putting yourself at a disadvantage compared to other ships in the same class.

Its all situationnal. Flying caldari solo can also be putting yourself at advantage, if you dont fly your missile boats like blaster boats.

The guy that mentioned the scorp may have a point soon (ECM boost) but I don't think you'll have the DPS to break any halfway tanked ship.

Maybe enough damage to break active tankers, if you dont mind having to burn all its cap sticks ;)
No way you can down a passive tanked drake solo ... but at least you can fly away np.

only those with no imageineation cant solo in caldari- ive done it for a long time with some decent success ( just avoid obvious camp spots)

Eh. It's not so much Caldari as it is shield tanking in general. I wouldn't take a Rokh or Mael with tackle gear against a Pest or Thron. Then there's e-war setups, but with the upcoming damp nerf I'm curious to see how those will hold up outside of gang support.

If it can fit a rack of torps, the widow ought to be pretty wicked as a solo boat. Depends on if it has the grid, though. I just finished training cloaking 5 specifically so I could fly that and the panther once Trinity hits (already had the other prereqs). -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire

Define solo-PvP?
If you define it as finding a good lone survival ratio versus your ability to take out targets, it surprises me that no one is listing the Rook. Of course, if you define it as finding that big crossracial battleship and having a toe-to-toe slugfest, or tanking gate fire while you eat up lesser prey, then of course the Rook is not for you. To repeat myself though, if you define solo-PvP as stalking targets and sweeping in on them in vulnurable positions (as most piracy tend to be met) and you can pick an enemy that doesn't need a hardcore damage output to go pop, im sure the Rook could get a pretty decent efficiency out with hit and runs.

Not to mention that the rook looks totally innocuous on D-Scan... whereas the lachesis and arazu look mighty suspicious.

Hostile jumps in: "Hey, look! A badger!" -turns on MWD and attacks-
Fluf locks, activates webs, scrambler, and ECM jammer and opens fire with his one mighty gun.
Hostile looks at his screen in total confusion. A moment later, he pops.
Hostile: "Okay, WTF just happened here?" -scratches head- -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire

You only need cloaking 4 for the widow though as they downgraded the skill reqs recently. ---

The Harpy...
Highs: 4 T2 Ion Blasters, 1 T2 Rocket Launcher
Mids: MWD, Web, scram, EM amp
Lows: T2 Magnetic Field Stabilizer (can swap for T2 Damage control Unit if you want more tank), MAPC
Rigs: Hybrid Collision, Hybrid Burst
Implants: Its a slot-6 implant for small hybrids doing 3% more damage (costs hundreds of thousands of isk - great buy here).
Pros: - Hit's really hard for a Cadari Frigate (I get about 240 dps with decent gunnery, and rocket skills - about 210 with the damage control unit) - Has a decent tank - small signature radius, and high resists - with a T2 damacontrol unit you'll be anywhere from 60-80% resist on everything but explosive armor resists. - You get a comfortable range to use your blasters - start firing around 5000 m, and close in to optimal around 2000 m. The rockets will help you start throwing out some damage at 7000 m - the versatility of rockets is great here, you can throw on EM to deal with shield tankers, or explosive to deal with armor tankers. Use a long range rocket to start harrassing a far away target, or put on the rage rockets and hit bigger targets even harder.
Cons: - The rigs make it expensive - of course I salvage a lot to support my rig addiction. - SLLOOOOOWWWWW - Damn CCP for making this ship so heavy! Use this ship to kill bigger slower targets - anything flying faster than 1200 m/s will outrun you if they know what's up.
I love this ship - its a lot of fun to fly a Caldari ship using the tactics of a Gallente pilot. You have to pick your fights well - or else you will be out of range and dead in the water. It REALLY shines in a 2-3 man gang - get someone fast in a crow or condor to hold your target down long enough for you to get in range, and you can surprise a lot of people! __________________________________________________ Sup brosef!
