No really.
As long as it's run by the GMs and tracked by them. Any isk "sold" is immediately confiscated and used on the next sting. Thus there is no net change in the economy; you're just moving it from one account to another.
As a bonus, CCP gets a bunch of extra cash from the people who pay for the isk. It's win-win!

Ah Right. There's still next year right?
Edit: Oh, and to Taedrin, the point of this isn't to make money for CCP, but rather to help catch isk-buyers, without which isk-sellers would not exist. The money is just a bonus.

GTC's are just so that people really desparate to play eve can take a payment holiday by paying in isk.
Unfortunately those willing to get an advantage simply because they can afford more IRL will find a way.
If you banned all sales of isk for $$ and were successful, ppl would still employ with RL money others to run macro operations just to supply them with isk, even if it is not paying a $ amount per isk, but rather more like employer paying someone for an in game isk generating service over buying a product (isk)

i think they should sell sp.. $14.95 per million.. that way, people who want to be useful before playing for 2 years (and when it becomes 4 years before you become useful) can be so.

Reign of the rich. Just what we need in eve. Aren't there enough ways to dominate with real-world money already? -------------------------------------------------- I'm a rich person. How I know? I can afford to be a miner. |

People already do this. They buy GTCs and sell them for ISK, then use that ISK to buy an already created character with lots of SP. In this case they get the advantage of having lots of SP (but still dying all the time because they know **** all about the game anyway, then whine that they lost a load of real life money being a moron) but with the disadvantage of not getting to choose the name and look of their character.
Also, you don't need years and years of training to be useful. But I'm not going to repeat what has already been said hundreds of times on this forum to explain why that is.

In the isk trade there is one person you really want to hit, the facilitator.
The farmers are just people who do it for a living, if there wasnt a demand then they would do somthing else.
The buyers are usually fairly easy to catch but the problem is that they are many, they rarelly see themselves as bad, they just dont have time for grinding and want to only have fun and are thus willing to pay real cash in place of grind. That is not saying I think the GM's should go easy on them, they are after all the ones that make isk trading a profitable venture.
The facilitator however is the pimple in the sky, he is the one that makes the big money and probably dont even care an iota for the game (unlike the buyer and most often the farmers).
Thus if you could get the facilitator into the red then it would be a good thing. The problem is its almost impossible for a gaming company to hurt them in the wallet...

I always kind of assumed they must have at least advertised on e-bay, It wouldn't be wise for them to aggressively market it ingame though(spam) so it's probably not as effective an idea as it was/might have been. Whew! That was close!" yelled the captain." That runway was short!" "Yeah!" said the copilot, and wide too! |

You know, it could be a viable idea CCP sell ISK. Why not? World markets buy & trade money all the time. Since CCP is a European country it will have to be tied to the Euro. Lets say 1000 ISK = 1 Euro and as the Euro goes up in value the amount of ISK you can buy goes down and when the Euro goes down in value, the amount of ISK you can buy goes up.
It shouldn't be to hard for them to do this. They did buy, err I mean acquire and economist. ________________________

CCP should use created isk to buy timecards from players, and then sell the timecards again for real cash.
