Hello
I wonder if someone could kindly give some advice to a new player on the best commodities to buy and where to sell them for a good profit? I will be buying them in Jita and can then travel anywhere in Empire to sell them.
One thing that I would like more information on are trade goods (e.g. activists) etc. However, also normal commodities like weapons as well.
Thank you.

My advice is to look around in different areas and work out what's what, no one will give you their trade secrets. -- eve-guides.com Includes all about POSs, outposts, tech II production, item database and much much more. |

Thank you, but I'm not after trade secrets. Just very basic tips for a new player. Could you offer any?

What you asked for are indeed trade secrets. By simply telling you what you asked for, people will hurt their own profits.

linky
IF you are into trading, don't stick yourself to one place. Jita may also not be a great place for commodoties, well okay I don't know that, but I have never looked at that market there.
Jumping back on to topic, try that linkage.it takes you to the commodity section of the item database.
A little used section of the database is the npc market section of each item. It will tell you who buys and who sells. that will narrow down your research some. Try sitting at cross regional gates and compare prices. Remember also to check the volume, you may find that buying 40k units of construction blocks might make you a profit, but at the same time you are going to be hauling for a while. _________

Thanks for that, the link has helped me a lot.

Head over to the Market Discussion Forums and read the many and various stickied guides to trading. No-one will spoon feed you but if you are willing to put in a little time and effort then you will reap the rewards.
Good luck

Edited by: cal nereus on 18/11/2007 05:09:26 The best commodities to buy and sell are in fact trade secrets. Every time someone buys something, the price on that item increases in the area they bought it. Vice versa: every time someone sells something, the price on that item decreases in the area they sold it. To reveal a good commodity to buy and sell in various locations would effectively make it so it is NOT a good commodity to buy and sell anymore.
Edit: So, my recommendation is try to check the markets in multiple neighboring regions, and look at a wide variety of different items. I know it's pain-staking, but it really seems like the only effective choice. ---

Edited by: Leora Nomen on 18/11/2007 10:01:40 You can trade in anything that has in-game ISK value. Most players trade in items that you would use to fit your ship, ships themselves, building materials like ore minerals, skill books, implants, NPC trade goods, POS fuel, and other things you can find on the market. If you're wondering what modules are good to trade, think about what modules are common in ship fits used by pvpers, mission runners, and miners.
New opportunities open all the time, so even if someone was to tell you what you can sell for big profit now, tomorrow may be 10 other players will discover the same thing and profit margins will go down. Therefore each trader needs to do his own homework and find his own niche because it is impossible to keep track of everything that sells on the market.
