The button to download the new graphic content seems to confuse lots and lots of people... There were like hundreds of posts that ask about that button - can we have an estimate from the Devs when we can get that button to finally work? -- The future begins now - in EVE we live it, in real life we create it!

why would they give up their brand new, cookie cutter, jummy, nber, 8man-years of programming, drooling, whatever graphics before their expansion?
I dont think they will test the graphics itself on SiSi.Never before it hits TQ.

Might not be a good idea not to test them prior to release on TQ even if it's a the day before. Would be rather embarassing if it all went t*ts-up on release day.

What says they are not testing the new graphics engine without the new models...

Why would they need to conduct open test of content for the new engine, while the said engine is being in testing already? As in, it's just content...

Do you know the words "never play on patch day"? If that new graphics engine goes online without testing... I guess I'll have to set up a skill that lasts like.. Maybe 60 days. My Level 5 Freighter needs training.

Edited by: Helison on 19/11/2007 10:39:39 I¦m sure that CCP will test the new engine on Sisi, everthing else would be quite stupid by CCP. But it seems like the new engine/graphics are far from being finished, which explains, that we still have no official release date and no Devblog about Trinity 2.0.
If there¦s no Betatest of the new engine on Sisi, I think we all should start a 60 days skill and take a break from Eve, till the worst bugs are fixed.

Models != engine They could just use old ones for testing it, while new models would require only some internal sight-seeing for bugs of the models themselves, not engine ones.

It would be nice to actually see those new models on Sisi to see if all goes well with them. Remember the new Tier 3 BS and Tier 2 BC from Rev 1, there were quite a few glitches about them.

That button is just a great big tease atm.
The devs are playing our heads.

It's being tested internally. Don't expect to see it on the test server [sisi].

The current graphics/game engine will still function regardless of the Trinity upgrade. You install the new version on patch day and start it on up. If it chokes and dies the old version is still there to boot up and play on.
They are independent changes so they don't have to test it in the same fashion as the module/ship/etc. changes. They can run their own tests and release it knowing that the likely worst case scenario is that everyone has to play with the current system for an extra few days.

Yeah I doubt ccp is going to want everyone downloading a huge file twice just to see some shiny a few days earlier etc..
It's around 750mb, so they said recently, and even though an 'informed' person could copy/paste the gfx patch to their real eve /dir/...you get the idea...

I would certainly hope we would see it on Sisi before it went to production. It may be the same graphics engine, but I would bet the new models and texture excercise a whole lot of code that the current model and textures won't.
The classic client should use the CPU(s) and not the GPU(s).
That leaves a significant gap that should be well tested.
