Greetings.
I'm a 52 million skill point player, but in all the years of playing, I've rarely messed with missions much except right at the beginning. My standing is high enough with the Gallente Navy to run level 4 missions.
I'm looking to find out what other like-skilled pilots are using for their solo mission-running setups and if there are any resources on how to run each of the missions.
Currently, I'm using a dominix and have maxed drone skills. I am training up an alt to do remote drone repair with the idea that I take in the battleship, grab all the aggro, and then warp in the alt to release heavy rep drones. Regardless, I'd like to be able to run these missions with just the Domi and I know that there are pilots that do just that.
Thanks ahead of time.

So...between starting this thread earlier today and posting this, I got jumped by another player while I was wrapping up a level 3 mission. My shields were gone, I had full aggro, and my capacitor was fine, though taxed.
In warps another dominix, fit for pvp obviously, and took me out. With the rats pounding on me as well as this guy, I really only delayed the inevitable.
Running level 3 or 4 missions usually means low-sec space, doesn't it? While I'm all about pvp most often, there's times I just wanna carebear.

You can run lvl 4 missions for the gallente navy out of aunia (.9 system). The LP rewards aren't as good as lowsec agents, but you won't have to worry about getting ganked.

Edited by: victim 1034378 on 20/11/2007 03:23:20 sadly its the drones that are helping you get probed out. either use tech 1 only stay aligned for warp out, or move to high sec. I used to do missions in lowsec when I was waiting on my jumpclone timer to come up, however it only took on average 2 to 5 minutes for my domi to get probed out which of course makes the mission annoying to complete concidering they probably have it bookmarked. Now I do my carebearing in highsec ah well.

Some advice from a PVP and prober.
ON BOARD SHIP SCANNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, you can see scan probes with your onboard scanner. The easiest and quickest is to uncheck use overview.
You might want to search the market for scanner probes and memorize those names.
Ferret Fathom Spook Snoop
You see those words in your directional scanner, you run....
Side note. Sub 30 second scan times are not hard too train for, you would want to scan at least 2 times a minute to be safe if in low sec.

When missioning, exploration probes are far more dangerous than scan probes. The deadspace shielding effect makes it extremely unlikely for a scan probe to get a hit due to their low sensor strength, but the huge sensor strength on exploration probes negates the deadspace effect, so especially if you're within 4 AU of a warpable object, keep an eye out for quest probes, particularly the one of the same flavour as your ship's sensors, which is an almost guaranteed hit.

Speaking of exploration, that's a facet of the game I've not touched. Can you point me to a tutorial or primer?

You dont need to memorise the names, all the scanner probes are named Scan Probe. They do all have different types, though, so you need to sort the overview by name rather than type. Then scroll down to 'S' after doing a scan every min or so, to see if there are any scan probes in range.
If you are in deadspace, you only realy have to worry about exploration probes; otherwise you have to worry about all scan probes.

But there were no mission in the beginning.... And you are only 10 million skill points below me, so you must be over 3 years old... Sorry for the derail and I'm not questing you, but it just sounds funny.. And I have a tinfoil hat on at the moment .
Anyways, the above answers your question fully.
