I've been cross-training Gallente because they have good drone boats, however, I'm told that with the upcoming patch that will no longer be the case (particularly with the Myrm, which I'm told will only be able to field 3 medium drones at a time).
Will any of the cruisers / battlecruisers still be able to use 5 mediums? Or do I need to start training my gun skills again/ ----- My in Eve Profile |

Thats complete and utter bull****. The myrmiddon will be a strong boat after the patch, it will however no longer be able to field 5 heavy drones for utter ganking.
It will be able to field 3 heavy drones, or 5 mediums, or 2 heavies 2 mediums and 1 light.
And it will have cargo enough for 6 heavies, 15 mediums or 30 lights.

Myrmidon still has the strongest active tank for a BC in all of Eve. It still will be able to hurt like a mofo. It just wont be able to solo BS's as easily, or be head and shoulders over all other BC's.
The guy above me had the drones right. Previously, it was the only BC that could fly 5 heavies, not what the original design was for. Object is to be able to field a few waves of drones if some of them get popped.

This is true, as long as your definition of "strong" is: same exact drone damage as a Vexor but with a better tank. In which case, yeah it will be awesome.. Except for the fact that every other tier 2 BC will completely outperform you.. But we'll ignore that unhappy little fact..

Myrmidon will still be able to tear through most BC's, double web + blaster range = melted target.
I fly a Hurricane, with great gunnery skills, and I still have a hell of a time keeping up with a Myrmidon pilot with even skills. Actually, I really can't keep up with them.
Even skilled pilots in the 4 races, Myrmidon wins. Would be a pain to break a Drake's tank, but he wouldn't be able to break yours at all.
People who say the Myrmidon wont be able to put out damage due to the fact that it can no longer field 5x heavies, well, they aren't that bright. Blasters hurt, very much. Now you need a mix of skills to omgwtfpwn, but you'll still be able to do it.

Edited by: Ezekiel Sulastin on 20/11/2007 22:24:26 Train your gun skills anyways, it is the true method of unlocking the Gallente potential, unless you are a career Ishtar pilot.
{EDIT}And for sheer gankage, the Brutix with only 5 Ion 2 Electron blasters draws even with the Myrmidon if both have one MFS on and starts outperforming it with 2 MFS on, with the added bonus that much more of the damage is from indestructible guns instead of BBQable, non-repping drones which you only get two whole waves of ;) the Tank is the Myrmidon's only real asset post nerf, don't bother ganking it out unless you positively need that dual web.{/EDIT}

OK, so Myrm is still a good drone boat.
'Heavy' must have turned into 'Medium' somewhere in rumor chain. I do have decent gun skills (I started with them...) but since I mine mostly now they've gone neglected while my drone skills have gone from nothing to pretty good. So I think the Myrm will still be a good mission / 0.0 ratting boat for me even post-nerf. ----- My in Eve Profile |

This is why you use the Hurricane's superior range and speed to kite Gallente battlecruisers, which will easily fall to any decent Hurricane pilot.

I'd take a smaller ship to go 0.0 ratting; for Guristas at least, a pre-nerf Ishkur or Enyo gets the job done (dunno about post-nerf), and a blaster Vexor will do almost the same amount of DPS as a Myrmi at a MUCH lower price point and should be able to take anything but Angels with ease - I know I did, with a standard Med Armor Rep tank instead of the 1600mm plate you can get away with >.> 270 drone DPS with t2 drones and decent skills using the 2h 2m 1l setup and 385 with light neuts using Anti S; drop to a smaller/no plate and use Med Elecs and it goes up to 446 ...
