Issues: 1. Difficulty to find PvP oportunities in some 0.0 regions (i.e. Stain or Essoteria) which are nearly empty. 2. Difficulty for Low Sec pirate or PvP corporations to go deep into 0.0 (for fun from time to time). Who would risk 20-30J into 0.0 with something different than cloacky stuff. If you loose ship you will probably need to make pod self-destruct. It's suicidal.
Proposal: Create new type of stargates - Far Gates. Which will connect far 0.0 regions with Low Secs that are at the opposite side of the map. Why new type - not to mess with logistic and sovereignty. So no Freighters, Industrial, Transport etc... ships can jump through these gates.
Should be "easy" to introduce and test on small scale (several gates for the beginning). If players will like then Concord, Empires or Mega Corporations can invest more into "building" these gates. If not they can be shut down or destroyed in a blast due to some "miscalculations" done in a process of construction.
Benefits: 1. This will bring some less populated 0.0 regions closer to low sec and high sec PvP pilots. 2. Will bring Low Sec closer to smaller PvP aliances living in 0.0 (if there is no one to fight at the moment). 3. Will give smaller alliances and single corporations more opportunity for PvP. 4. Will give bigger alliances opportunity to do some roams to distance space if they are bored and have nothing to shot at home. 5. Will give a chance for fun without having to make suicidal decision to go 20J into 0.0 with nearly no chance of return. 6. Will make some 0.0 regions more populated :)
Cons: 1. Yes there are some but I will not question my own idea ;) 2. Aaaah maybe a little bit - Will make some Ratters live more difficult. But you don't need to create Far Gates in 0.0 systems close to the best rating systems. They can be in the systems where there is literally nothing except for 4 moons 3 belts and poor sec status and average population of 1 player/day.
More ideas of the Far Gates features: WH like - will change counterpart gate every X days. Gates are always there - in particular system but they will change destination. But always 0.0 <-> Low Sec. This will make any sovereignty wars based on this even more difficult.
Yes I know it sounds similar to WH but I think it's good. WHs already proven they are great opportunity for PvP gangs to have some interesting fights in a galaxies "far far away". The issue with WH is that it's their side effect and it is hard for day to day roam usage.
Write your comments what do you think about making the universe a little bit "smaller" by this and bringing gangs closer to each other.
Or make your proposals of bribing more PvP opportunities.
BTW - for those who need Sci-Fi explanation - these gates are driven based on WH space distortion - thus having limitations in ship mass and destination deviation. If the idea is good we can find some explanation. |

new gates that don't allow industrials, transports and freighters? on what base? Size? Discrimination? (opperators don't need no stinking cargo ships)
and what is there to steal no cargo from freigthers.
not to mention that you spread possible targets even more.
What you ask for is an arena for small corp pvp.
try to call out to those intrested and settle in one starsign. not unlike there are trade hubs. Unreal tournament in several system.
almost can see the tv in the CQ showing the comercials. and for the fun of it a version of the running man, one ship that needs to get to the other end of the region while the hunters are after it. :)

Yes operators don't like cargo :)
If we create regular gates to these systems than it would change universe balance. Every 0.0 region will be more or less the same from logistic (distance to empire) perspective. So probably they would be settled by big alliances and since there will be plenty of space for everyone there would be not even blob fights.
Yes my point is to create easy way to get with a roaming fleet from 0.0 to low sec and/or vice verse. We already have systems connecting 0.0 with Empire which you can call arenas. But what's wrong with creating more of them?
Now in my region (Esoteria and Stain) the issue is not the fact that we have lag, unbalanced ships poor graphics or weak logistic with empire - no everything is ok! But there is NO PEOPLE TO FIGHT couse it's 25-30j from low sec and no one will bring the gang in Jump Freighter to us ;) |
