Maybe this will cause the price of implants to increase so that players that do missions other than mining missions can make more profits off selling their implants.

Not much in the way of ideas here, 98% talk about exploiting + whining about exploit being plugged + attempts to convince me that doing 20 insta-missions in a row with almost no planning required is not an exploit.
If there's anything salvagable among the flaming ruins, I'd suggest copy-pasting it over to the idea forum.

Quote: This really need to be sorted out in a fair and measured way, and clearly just stopping all agents from giving missions or turning them into level 4 agents is not ina ny way well thought out or fair.
And is in no way intended as a solution. This is a temporary hack until a proper solution is shipped.

Please also correct or retract comments which state that thee mining "insta" missions are an exploit... this would sugggest that we as players are doing something wrong which we are not, we are simply working in an efficient way and would be very stupid not to.
I have no qualms with "insta-missions". They often add an element of intelligence to an otherwise mundane task. They should however be a spice that adds flavour to agent running, not the main course.
Mining agents were incorrectly configured and using them in this 100% insta-mission fashion was an exploit. It should have been obvious to anybody who did it.
And yes, you players that were abusing them were doing something wrong. No other agents could be abused in this manner. If you didn't realize that this was broken, we'll, ignorance of the law is no excuse in EVE either.
Quote: Can the GM's assure us that this will be dealt with so that people who have made bases and moved resources to areas which contain lots of mining agents will not be over penalised for a balance of the game that thy got slightly wrong.
I say slightly because this imbalance is not as major as you first might think.. Firstly the minerals have to be mined.....secondly the missions use minerals...lots of them.... minerals which could otherwise be sold for a reasonable amount of isk.... if you combine the overall time taken to get the minerals and ore with the amount that the ore is worth then I think you would find the overall imbalance is nowhere near as great as is being implied....and you would certainly not call it an exploit.
You say slight imbalance, I say gaping hole. This may only give you a significant boost ISK-wise from the minerals/ore themselves, but not so in the standings and implant arena. In those areas, many people are gaining at a rate 20-200 times what is intended. That's an obvious exploit.
There is no need for GM assistance to help the exploiters relocate. These agents should be up and running again next week in a much less exploitable fashio. If there were supposed to be GM involvement, it would be to do some mass-bannings. Which we won't be doing however unless I see evidence of some really major atrocities in the database.
Quote: If you stop this type of mission completely then all you will do is force more people to mine... which to be honest was driving me to quit the game anyway....it is so mind numbing...but hey...that is your choice guys....just make sure you dont jump in to quick with a fix and please consider this situation from all angles.
Don't worry too much about it, there's no intention to stop this type of mission completely. There will be a better balance of missions on mining agents, including more courier and kill missions. This is just a balancing act.
Quote: A better solution would be to slightly lower the monetary rewards and standing increases for such missions , and maybe decrease the frequency of these missions a bit compared to courier...but to be honest I think you have completely misread the situation and there is much less of an imbalance than you think when all is taken into account.
I will be rebalancing the "mission difficulty factor" soon, probably won't make it for the next patch. This would reduce the standings gain and monetary rewards as well, as the average time required to complete these missions is obviously significantly lower than it used to be with so many people exploiting them.
Again, you're not taking standings and implants into account as far as I can tell when you're judging the imbalance.

If that's the case, then could you please make some sort of official announcement about it in-game or in the main news? GMs and Polaris on the help channel were fairly adamant that these "instant" mining mission were *not* exploits. The subject came up quite a bit when people were doing BS mining in high-sec space to fulfill mission mining requirements.

Quote: be careful when you choose micro corps though - some of them - like Eifyr and Co - don't have any level 4 agents - be a shame to spend an age working for them to find that it is a dead end.
Strategy: Do missions for a microcorp to get an L3 agent as fast as possible Use the L3 agent to increase race standing (Corp size doesn't matter much for race standing I believe, but you will get an L3 faster this way) Use your increased race standing to switch directly to an L3 for another corp. ------------ Ezra Cornell pe0n, Xanadu Corporation |

Look you miserable pillocks, stop pretending that the Instamining missions are not an exploit. Yes you worked SO hard to get all those minerals. There are what, 8 types of mineral in the game, compared to god knows how many commodities that the Courier agents would have to stock up on. That makes your mining agents "the easy life" and you know it, that's why you are working for them. Thus you are taking advantage of a flaw/imbalance in the game. Just in case you STILL don't get it, that is a textbook definition of "EXPLOIT".
It's easy to fix though. Just make the mining agents NEVER request minerals be brought to their own station (or at least rarely). That way you'll be in the same boat as the courier agents. I have no problems with you stocking your eight minerals at forty-odd different stations.
But I think you might have. ========================================= * I'm ALLOWED to cheat. I'm a STARSHIP. * ========================================= |

Is there any penalty to keeping an agent waiting for a response? I like to finish every night by seeing what the next mission the agent offered would be. Next day I log in I accept the mission and complete it. But does that time he waited for a response have any factor in standings or probability of important mission?

O.K. read thru this whole thing and just have to reply to it cause it's ****ing me off. You can buy just about ANY item that you need for ANY mission on the escrow if not the main market. So if a mining mission where it is possible to buy the item needed is an "exploit" then 95% of all the other missions are also an "exploit" especially the combat ones (lost track of how many times I had to save that dang damsel). I have spent the last year training up mining even though those that do combat make WAY more ISK with less effort. So now you people want to take away the one thing that balances out mining with combat in the way of makeing ISK and getting faction up to be able to refine the ores you mine for yourself/corp at a lower loss. I completely agree that macro miners are complete scum and need to have their I.P's pernamently banned from EVE so they can't just make another account. Give CCp a chance cause they did figure out a way to stop the use of trial characters to be used in macro mining as well as how to put a stop to ore thieves. But if you get rid of mining mission you'll get rid of mining all together and where the heck do you think your ships/ modules/ ammo for your kill missions is gonna come from???
