First of all the new graphics on sisi are freaking awesome. I really don't think I can go back now and play on tq :(
Excellent work ccp and especially the artists, modelers, & 3D Engine coders.
On another note, can you increase the minimum zoom level on carriers, titans, and dreads please? The zoom on the titan is SO far out you can't see any of the ships artwork. Same on bases. They look awesome, but you can't see all the details from that far zoomed out.
Just enough so we can check out how awesome looking the ships look.
Can't wait for trinity 2.0!!!
(ps. on another note, if you experience bad frame rates on sisi, turn off your shadows, they kill fps bad)

Second!
I'd like to zoom in REAL close and have a good old fashioned inspection, but once in space zooming into the ship seems restricted!
Once trick is usually just after you undocked, the camera seems to be zoom centred right in the middle of the ship..
so yea!.. more zoomage pls

Hold down rightclick to move camera angle freely, then hold down leftclick. Move mouse in and out to zoom into any detail you want.

Yeah that works, but you can't then rotate around your ship and admire it, you have to zoom back out, rotate your ship, then zoom back in.
You can look at parts of your ship. I'm thinking more long the lines of how you view your cruiser/destroyer/battleship
dreadnaughts take up like 10-20% of the screen at max zoom, while your battleship is more like 35%.

signed.
And it also negates the feeling of size, if the zoom level changes according to what ship you're in.
if you can view the frigate from 10m away (or at least zoom in so it feels like you're at 10m), it should be possible to zoom in on a titan at 10m away too.
although atm that could be a problem because zoom (or distance from ship) isn't calculated from the surface of the ship but from it's center. so in order to have the same zoom (distance of camera from surface, where camera is centered at) on every ship, that would have to be changed, otherwise you could easily end up inside the ship with your camera bot. that's why i think zoom mechanic is as it is atm.

Actually when zooming in on ships that I was first looking at, the zoom state became locked and I could rotate around ships zoomed fully in.
Dont know if thats intended or a bug, but it was very useful.   ============================================

Could we also have it so the zoom in on a ship stays there during it's inevitable destruction, watching the explosion and the wreckage and not zoom back out the instant it goes.

A sense of scale is what EVE has always been missing, except for maybe the days when Battleships were still rare.
1 - Bring the camera closer to the hull by default. Ideally, the max zoom of the camera brings you really up close, and also, ideally the zoom distance changes as you rotate the camera so you don't get any clipping and the camera stays outside the frame model.
2 - Increase the actual frame models as we were made believe in the the Trinity II teaser and trailer. A Nyx appeared to be more than 5 times as long as a battleship, but AFAIK it's still as long as 1 hyperion on SiSi.
Sure, you can change the wide angle camera to a small angle, which does provide for more theatrical effects, however it's impractical as it takes about 10 full swings of the mouse to turn the camera 180 degrees. And you don't need a narrow angle lens for a sense of scale anyways.

We had a money shot? Damn! Well /signed anyways the Zoom level is awful and yes Rescale the big ships, make their collision bubbles smaller or something because the sense of scale is just not there even if the eye candy it self is gorgeous.

Yes deeper zoom and maybe we could add few camera angles, like bridge camera, tail, wing etc.. would be awesom.

Edited by: Luna Nilaya on 28/11/2007 17:19:24 You can zoom the way that the camera doesn't reset by using CTRL + ALT + Left mouse button + Right mouse button I know this isn't the kind of zoom that the OP is asking for but some might like to use this for what ever reason..

This is a bit off topic, but maybe, just maybe one day we'll get to go EVA in Eve and take a walk around out side our ships. I know the textures are not scalled for worm's eye view of our ships, but honestly, that will be ok with me. I want to feel like an ant on the hull, even if that means fuzzy textures when I'm up close. -AS

Or being able to set the zoom using a value like you do for warp so you can customize how close you can zoom to your ship...?

You can use the left/right arrows keys to rotate your view while both mouse button are held down, and if I recall correctly, pageup/pagedown will tilt the camera up and down.
