Hi there,
i noticed some threads about wrecked graphic cards recently and thought that couldnt happen to me. My graphic card was 1 year old and i never had problems with it. But today is a sad day for me... i was in a lvl 4 Mission scrambled by frigs and suddenly from one second to another all the textures were displayed wrong... i had 1 fps. I pressed "warp to station" and heared "ur unable to warp because ur warp scrambled" and then eve crashed.
The graphiccard is destroyed. Windows tells me it is a unknown graphic-device and after several tries i gave up. Lost my ship and my graphic card...
I hope u never will experience something like that.
Bye :(

Damn m8, sorry to hear that, may I ask what card it is/was? Could give a heads up for other people using the same card perhaps.

Im guessing it over heated. Yout symptoms seem to imply this. Chances are you graphics card cooling failed and your card melted.

I have the suspicion that the unfortunate loss of your graphics card during a session of EVE-Online was pure coincidence. I have never heard of a game that can actually damage a graphics card, especially one like EVE which (in its current form) takes more CPU power than GPU. It is my opinion that this would have happened regardless of what game you were playing, and perhaps would have happened earlier that it did, as most other games work the GPU harder which would have caused the meltdown at an earlier time. -=^=-

The card wasn overheated... the Nvidia-driver has a warning function and it was set to warn me if the temperature goes over 60¦. In fact it never hit 50¦.

wow I had the same thing happen to me ... I played EVE and then my VGA crashed ... I restarted the computer and realised that It was overheated - and I never had such a problem ... very strange indeed.

I have a BFG 7950 GT OC and I have never had any heat related problems but then again I have my side of my case open all the time and tried my hardest to keep the ambient temp down. Also check with the manufactor about Nvidia 7000 series GPU defects the very first couple of 7900 batches were all defective to a point.
Good Luck

Well atm about the only thing your video card does in Eve is sends the signal to your monitor. Eve mostly uses the CPU for graphics until the patch next week. There was something seriously wrong with your card before you logged into Eve.

has absolutely nothing to do with Eve - chances are it would have fried anyway.. as already stated in some of the other threads on the subject.. summertime and wintertime when ppl have their computer next to radiators etc usually costs alot of hw :)
