DMC That was a great game. Though the overlay was very complicated. Yeah, I remember when I first got it, I'd have a friend play as the Co-Pilot using the Keyboard to activate targeting and weapons while I used a Joystick to Pilot the Jet. Was a lot of fun.
Took some time but eventually I got good using both the Keyboard and Joystick at the same time.
After that I remember going to a BBQ party at a friends house. He had a PvP Jet Combat Sim on Atari game console and was boasting how good he was so I challenged him to a Dogfight match, best 3 out of 5. The game was split screen on the TV and we were all drinking, having a good ole time.
Course my friend who had played Co-Pilot for me didn't say anything, just smiled and winked. Needless to say I kicked the braggarts butt due to all the different maneuvers I had learned from playing the FA-18 Interceptor Simulation. Afterwards my friends all laughed and ribbed him about it for weeks.
Yeah, makes me smile recalling that memory.

I was a conventional computer user before EVE. the guidance I received from my housemates, who introduced me to EVE, led me to conclude additional characters means more utility, so I started 3 characters before leaving for the Army... and put my characters on a 3 year training plan. shortly thereafter, I sought out a multi-monitor video card, stuck it in my dell along with an upgraded power supply, and found matching monitors.

my housemates were dual-monitor types for the longest, and made the jump to 3 (and still are) after seeing pictures of my setup on facebook while I was away. I've made the jump to six, with the capability for 12, but they never gave chase
I remember that moment well: "OK. what's EVE all about."
...and between you and me: in effect, I started playing about a year ago. I made up my mind to stay subcap from the beginning, but I wish I had focused on cruisers and below.
in terms of enjoyment, starting these characters was one of the smartest things I've ever done. They're at 75m SP and at this point finishing "subcap: all" is a no-brainer.
