I dunno what it is about this game but it constantly says the server is offline at random times during the day. My EVEMON program keeps telling me the server is offline once in awhile and keeps popping up even though i'm logged in. If i try to logout when evemon does this and log back in again then it says the server is offline....
IS the server **** or is it my ISP being ***?

One of our guys is with Virgin Media for his Broadband service, he has the same issue.
They're probably doing the same as Tiscali

Edited by: Error404 on 01/12/2007 12:27:32 Damn cause i had endless problems with BT's customer support, as in i could never get through to them and when i did they put me on hold for a hour and then hung up. So i switched ISP to Virgin because NTL used to be good and i heard they took it over. However now i'm having endless problems with playing EVE lol....
And my download speeds on FIleplanet are like 20kb/s instead of 2.5mb/s

I'm on Telewest (Virgin) cable XL Broadband, basically the most expensive package that you can get and yesterday I was having connection problems and experiencing the whole 'server offline' thing. This is very disconcerting.

I have been with Telewest/Blueyonder/NTL/Virgin for 5 years or more and have not had any problems like this.
I am on cable rather than ADSL so not sure if that makes a difference.

Edited by: Kumo T''sun on 01/12/2007 17:22:06 Virgin media throttle users who connect to peer to peer networks, so it is likely that eve-online is being confused as a peer to peer, hence the loss of connection. I get it every 5 to 15min after 5pm so I can't play much in the evening :(

I have had no problems with this at all, it must be because I dont download much to end up getting throttled.

you missed the point of previous posters, they didn't say they are downloaders but that virgin thinks the connection to EVE is possibly a torrent/download and they are being throttled
I am getting worried, will keep an eye on my Virgin account and if it happens then I will cancel too

the only real point that needs to be addressed in this thread is the OP's fail at noticing the 6 other threads on the issue

im on virgin cable.
Have been experiencing this issue for several weeks now, tho im not sure the issue is with virgins network.
also the issue only effects the eve-o forums and eve log in servers, if you are already logged in then there is no issue.
I have done a traceroute when this happens and it progresses right through to the ccp ip and then gets no response.
maybe the eve servers are getting overloaded and kicking in that load balancing thing and not responding when overloaded.
blackouts can last anything from a few seconds to several minutes.
I have no major lag issues in game, eve when running all 3 of my accounts simultaneously except when i have to pass through or shop in jita
