Patched to latest sis version, got the correct patch for classic to premium, have latest directx 9.0c and latest of all drivers. all vid drivers are set to application settings. system specs follow. in the main menu (esc), get the message Your computer does not support premium graphic content.
Specs: P4 3.2 Extreme Edition 2gig ddr2 X800XT SB ZS Gamer SATA XP PRO SP2
Anyone else had this problem and come up with a solution? Don't make me get my flying monkies. |

your graphics card cant support shader model 3, which is required for the shiny graphics. youll have to get a new one that supports it

The best two ATI cards I know off are at a relatively cheap price are: ATI Radeon AGP 9550 Pro ATI Radeon AGP HD 2400 Pro (or 2600)
I'm sure the High Def card would do the trick. --- Too lazy to resize |

The 9550 card doesn't support SM3 but the X1xxx series cards do. The X1650 is quite a good cheap card altough if you can stretch to a X1950 all the better.
There have been problems with the HD series cards and EVE so personally I would avoid them and see if any users of these cards post any problems.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I wasn't able to find any of the ATI cards in stock anywhere (even newegg was out of stock), so i just went out and bought a 7600GS Don't make me get my flying monkies. |

There were hacks to run Oblivion in lower shader models for graphics cards that did not support shader 3 so you might want to take a look at that. |

How about better implementation?
Just the special effects that your card can't display are disabled?

erm...its like all the textures are shader 3.0 so it would be everything! As for better implementation, if its good for EA and Bethesda i guess that CCP is just following industry standards.
If you have a legacy graphics card, you can keep playing with the old graphics adjusted to DX9 which makes the game very fast.
If you want to try and find a way to get older version shader textures to work, there are hacks that do this.
Cant really see how Trinity could be better implemented there! |

I've decided that I need to build a shrine to the x800xt; it lasted over 6 years before having to be replaced. In video card years that makes it an ancient artifact.

Are you running Windows? Because with the Mac you don't get Premium. Also AFAIR that HD2600 build into macs may be a special version with reduced specs/power.

Why couldn't they build the new engine to support ati cards as well. An equivalent or better ati card won't run new graphics whereas the nvidia card will due to a different shader set.

Is there someone I can go to check and see if my whatever supports the stuff it needs? I'm not so hot on computers and the only thing graphics related I've found that might be what is being talked about is that my computer has an Intel 82845G Graphics Controller. I'm so very lost and confused.
