Quote: Okay, why does it feel like at any time, I could just take away all the NPC’s, and this game would still be exactly the same as it is now, except without the slow and totally freaking random way that tech2 blueprints are ‘raffled’ out?
Because really, you can. The only effect that NPC’s have on this game is the sentry guns. Concord is slow, stupid, and like a battleship trying to point massive guns at stray dogs.
I understand that CCP wants players to provide content, but RELYING on it is a sure way to get the least amount or the kind of content that gets BANNED.
So, why have agents if ultimately, they are only being used to add items into the game, through the stupidly easy and simple missions, or through the insanely random and half hearted BP raffle?
Agents should provide services and tools to players that need or want them.
Agents should have been a webbed network of combined faction and personal standings that would lead to better, not leveled agents and contacts, and through these contacts there should have been cool things to do and get, not point adding machines and percentage of mission A being offered.
Here are some examples of what should have been in before this game went live, and certainly top priority instead of shiny new modules.
Pirating tools: Bad guys need bad people agents. Why can’t security of certain systems be available to be shut down for a price? The lower security the area, the cheaper the price. During this time, no guns go off against you or your gang. During this time, people would need to report crimes, and not rely on some super ability of Concord to see and hear all.
Insurance: Good guys and legal employees should get legal insurance. Pirates, terrorists, and para-militarry forces should have to find other ways to cover losses. Why? Because why the hell would any sane person insure a crazed killer’s weapons of destruction and mayhem? Are you nuts? Let them build contacts with their other bad people network. Oh, helps to have a bad person network.
Bounty hunting: Why can’t players buy a “I get to kill player XXXXX until XX:XX on XX/XX/XX” license? The price is lower for the lower the security rating. So player XXXXX who has a -.4 security would be cheaper than ZZZZZZZ who has a -.2.
Bounties, of any amount, should make getting these licenses cheaper, but bounties should not exceed the level of the security status. So XXXXXX’s bounty can be twice as much as ZZZZZZZ’s. If that doesn’t make sense to you, then sorry.
The possibilities and potential for this is amazing. Also, it should take weeks, if not months, to move up in the agent networks. However, players should be able to refer other players to their agents, and companies should build good reps with those they work with most often.
Don’t get me started on how almost pointless it is to be a certain race or how racial faction points seem to do nothing at all. I will save that for later.
Just post your thoughts on how this game could be more interactive on the player to NPC level. We already got all the ganking and carebear crap worked out for player to player interaction.
Also, I didn't post this in the idea section because frankly, I have never seen anything mentioned in there implemented, sorta like the galatic sized joke from CCP.
