Hello EVE-O,
i hope its the right forum to post this. Ok, i've got a new graphics card, new CPU, Mainboard and a new RAM. Now i tried to record something with fraps.
Graphics: XFX nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 BE-2400 (AM2) Mainboard: MSI K9N4 Ultra RAM: Transcend 4GB Dual Channel
I thought it would run on this new system.
EVE-Online on station with FRAPS disabled: max. 200 FPS EVE-Online on station with FRAPS enabled: max. 10-15 FPS
and the videos are extreme blurry.
Can someone help me, what can i do to get the full power with FRAPS and my graphics card?
My old card (FX 5900) got ehrm, 20-30 FPS (but blurry :/). I want a 30 FPS video that is not blurry.
Best regards, Alphrenel. bye Alphrenel.
Its a nice picture, gets a place in my Sig :):

Edited by: Alphrenel on 04/12/2007 13:13:12 Ingame resolution is 1280x1024 and out of game is... the same :D
EDIT: Ingame resolution to 1024x768 does change nothing... only 10 FPS max.

What do you have your FPS level set at inside Fraps? If you don't want to nececarilly Fraps at fullscreen, you can try half-size as well.
And do you have the latest drivers for your Graphics card?

Fraps will limit your game framerate to whatever you tell it to record at.

Very strange, you should be able to fraps at 30fps(more even) at quite a high resolution without a lot of lag. What kind of harddisk are you using to fraps to? And what type of fraps settings do you use in the 'movies' tab of fraps? __________________

Do you have multiple monitors? Do you have any programs that use the overlay (e.g. Samurize, etc?) What OS are you using?

Ugh, this is ugly.
Have you tried turning on "No Sync" and/or turning off "Record Sound"?

Try playing a video back in something like Media Player Classic, and make sure Overlay renderer is being used (this allows you to FRAPS the video playing back). Do you have the same problem doing this (speed) as you do FRAPSing EVE?

Expressing interest in this topic, since I have a similarly-specced computer that also will not fraps above 10fps. ---

Just in case it needs to be said, make sure that as many background services are offline as possible before trying to FRAPS with the new engine. You want as much processing power as possible dedicated to just EVE and FRAPS. -----

I got the exact same problem using Vista x64 with latest graphics driver.
And I'm using a overclocked QX6700... Quad core that is.. In space I got about 300FPS, as soon as I push F9 (record), it drops to 10ish... ------------------------ |

Problem solved.
I formated my second hard disk to test if i can record on the disk, it worked. I came from 10 FPS to maximum FPS (30 FPS locked). So, maybe you should try it with your second HDD if you have a second, if you have no second HDD, try to defrag your main HDD with PerfectDisk or other defrag programs (I wouldn't take the Windows Defrag). You should take online defrag (running windows) and offline defrag (when windows starts, in the options you can start a offline defrag. If you reboot it defrags at next windows start.) I hope i helped everyone who couldn't record with FRAPS.
