Edited by: d1v1n1ty on 06/12/2007 03:55:49 I read that vista doesn't use boot.ini anymore... Has anyone had issues with Vista not booting?
edit: wild...boot.ini is in the above stated folder ^^. I wonder if this is causing issues!

Originally by: Laeren Meraki Yes, I applied the premium patch and now my windows boot.ini file is gone. The patch appears to delete it during the patching process instead of EVE's boot.ini.
First three lines of patch details: Output folder: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE Delete file: \boot.ini Extract: boot.ini... 100%
What's up with that!?
Oh my...that's a bug for sure. the slash shouldn't be there I think. Should be the full path or install directory path...wow

i just have to laugh this has to be the single biggest os destructor patch caused by a typo. Anyhow is this affecting only ppl that had classic client and patched it? or its also problem with the premium client as downloaded
the CCP boot.ini file in the eve install folder looks to be a config file for the premium, and it sounds like it only affects people applying that.

Seriously. You'd think they could have named it eveboot.ini or something.
That's what I said on pg1...hehehehe

So, us whom have had our XP CD's scratched to nothingness, what do we do?
Well, there's always less reputable ways to get an xp cd
Well duuuh, I'm thinking of downloading a pirate version of XP, and if M$ feel like suing me I'll send the bill to CCP.
Dood...you could just make up a boot.ini file...it's just a text file...as long as you know your harddrive setup...see above post.

Originally by: CCP kieron We have received petitions about this issue and have alerted the proper staff to investigate. Unfortunately, I don't have further information at this time, but I will provide updates as they become available.
CCP, you need to take down your patch now until it gets this fixed. To your average windows user this will kill their computer and they won't know how to fix the problem.
This is a good idea...before UK wakes up (sort of). Unless someone can recompile the installer and get it out to mirrors quickly...

Originally by: DirtyHarry rofl same issue, XP64, how ******* stupid can you be to program "delete /boot.ini" instead of "delete /Program Files/CCP/EVE/boot.ini" into your installer, prepare for a massive influx of whine about this tomorrow when people switch their PCs on after work/school/waking up.
Yea....it's the one \ before the boot.ini delete command. if they left it out...would have been fine...but then again, the whole name a file after a system file thingy...
