Since having muchos troubles with some versions of ATi drivers with my 9700, I went back to 3.9.
Now, I want to ask you brave souls updating to 4.3 - any problems? Difference in performance? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I am using 4.3 and have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Ice Q.
And i have absolutely no problems whatsoever! with this new driver. Try it out. You can allways go back if it sucks for you.

After reassurance by Zyanid, I grabbed my nose and dove into the great (relatively) unknown.
The results so far: 4.3 seem to run a'right.

8500 (=9200) locks up with 4.3. 4.1 seems to work just fine.

I have a Radeon 9200 Second Editon, and the new driver doesn't work for me either, haven't been able to get the old drivers to work either. Seems that the old drivers don't have Direct 3D enabled, I ran dxdiag and I couldn't even run the Direct 3D test, only the DorectDraw test would work. If any one can give any advice on how to get the older drivers to work let me know. Thanks everybody.

Make sure you uninstall both the driver and control panel before installing new new driver. Preferably in safe mode.
Whack F8 while booting up, select "safe mode", open control panel - add remove programs, remove both ATI driver and ATI control panel, reboot normally and install new driver (which you have of course downloaded earlier).
Hope this works.. if not, try emailing [email protected] .. or post here on the forum.

Edited by: Ghanima Alaric on 29/03/2004 02:44:00 I completely formated and still have no luck with the 9200 radeon (with most recent drivers) Where do you find older versions of drivers?

Ghanima, Catalyst 4.3 will NOT work with EVE, period.
You need to use 4.1, you can propably find it at www.guru3d.com

Running an 8500DV 64MB, and 4.1 works.. anything after doesnt.. Which really is a real bummer since the game I just got, Far Cry (AWESOME), requires 4.3 or else it freezes. Anyone have a fix to make 4.3 work with EVE?

Recently I remade a system that has a 9600Pro in it running 4.3's. Was running faster then my 9800pro. Well after a driver clean of all the video drivers I got a 33% increase in preformance to what I had before when the 4.3's where installed on my main rig.
Might want to make sure you whip out all video drivers before installing the new ones using a cleaner of sort to get rid of all video driver related files in windows.
BTW running 1280x1024 with both comps and pulling 20-25FPS on 9600Pro and 33-40FPS on 9800Pro with 1 account running in full screen mode. Fear The Bunny

I just started the 10 day trial and had same problems with catalyst 4.4. Downgraded to 3.9 and now game works just fine.
Although I would prefer that either developers of EVE fixes this problem or ATI than using old drivers. As those older drivers cause problems with other games...
