I'm sure someone else has run into this one, but I thought I would share.
Occasionally (and this has happened well before Trinity) I will flip up the star map, and get nothing but a black background. Zooming in and out does nothing, and I can't see anything by dragging. If I un-flatten the map and drag around a bit, I get THIS. Usually a client reset will fix it, but it seems to be so random.
Anyone else seen this?

Grumble grumble thread pirates.
Cut it out. I would like an answer to my question and don't want a mod to lock the thread.

Oh well, to answer your question, yes I have seen it, think it happend last time I jumped via a stargate with a map open, and I've only gotten a client restart to fix it.

I've had it in Stations too. Seems to be totally random, but it's definitely restart time when it does happen

I had it a few times, i think it happens during a session change with the map open. Zooming in and out and/or docking/undocking fixes that sometimes. Don't remember exactly how i fixed it without a restart.

I thaught I was the only one that gets this problem, it's extremley annoying and like OP said it does seem completley random.

I have had it happen to me quite a few times... and I depend on the map to chart my ways around pirate camps...so annoying is not a strong enough word. It does seem to be random.
I also get the same result with only Skarkon being shown...I hope they will fix this problem someday.

For me this happens while scanning for Cosmic signatures. Say you have a multispec out, and you open your map. Everything is fine at first, but go to the solarsystem map and back to the EVE map and it's totally screwed.
Workaround: Never open your EVE map with any probes active. If you have to open your map, open it without probes active, then go to solarsystem map, launch probes and when your scan is done DESTROY all probes. Then you should be able to open the EVE map. ~~~~~~~~~ Hi. I'm Rock. Make Eve good for rock. Give me scissor arms! |

Yes, I have had that happen to me several times. Only fix I have found is a client restart. I would suggest posting this in the bug forums.

I'm getting this same starmap problem at least once per session. Totally empty map, except for system Skarkon. |

Edited by: Nizar on 06/01/2008 09:01:06 Edited by: Nizar on 06/01/2008 09:00:51 i m not sure but as i know this is a known bug that occures when you use "no region names" option in the "region labels" tab. change it to something else and it should fix the problem.

Happens to me as well, as others have noted it seems to be related to session changes but I've never been able to figure out precise repro steps or I'd file a bug report on it.

Happens quite often for me when exploring, which isn't very nice since that means I'm in low-sec. If it doesn't happen, usually some other bug will, like the tactical overlay or the probe range bubbles not appearing on the system map. It's fun.

For me this happens whenever I've used the solarsystem map and then had a session change. Whether or not the map was open during the session change seems irrelevant.
