One of the welcome changes in the trinity patch is that modules at destroyed POSes can be unanchored and scooped. However, there is one large problem with this. To unanchor the mod, it cannot be incapacitated.
In POS warfare most, if not all, modules are incapped prior to destroying the POS. Thus, in order to scoop the mods at a destroyed tower, millions of armor HPs must be repped back up.
This is quite simply unfeasible. The time required to do this is enormous and not worth it. In the south alone, roughly 250 POSes with modules have been blown up (not including ones without mods). Rather than looting these, they are simply going ignored, because the time spent repping would be far better spent mining or ratting.
For example, a medium gun (a few dozen of these are typically anchored at a POS) has 750k armor hitpoints. A large remote armor rep can rep 384 hitpoints every 5 seconds, for 76.8 hp/sec. With one such LRAR running, it takes 162 minutes to rep a single medium gun. Even with 8 LRARs running, that's still 20 minutes.
Considering that the cost of modules is only a few million ISK, it's clear that the time needed to rep them is not worthwhile.
Thus, I am pleading with CCP to allow modules to be unanchored & scooped while they're incapped, as long as the tower is not present. The modules could then be repaired in a station quickly.

Edited by: William Ortega on 10/12/2007 03:38:51 Explain to me why you are picking up modules that are not worth your time instead of scooping up the ones that can actually turn a profit?
For that matter I think CCP should do something make sucking veldspar equally as profitable as sucking bistot (they've done some steps in that direction but not nearly enough).

So they did have a reason for reducing their health to 1/10th of what it was.... it retains the isk sink....
They should just do away with the un-anchoring TBH.

I actually like the unanchoring idea. It should promote more pew pew, both in empire and 0.0. To the victor go the spoils as it were. You just have to work for it.

Who cares? POSs are so FUBAR at this point its not even funny. I laugh at CCP noobs and what they do to this game with all changes.

Except it's not worth the extra effort to rep them up. Destroying the POS is worthwhile as it is, and the modules can be reasonably destroyed as well. It's the concept of needing to rep up the modules in order to unanchor them that is the problem, because in the time you spent repping the mods you're better off ratting or mining.
Obviously different mods are worth different amounts of isk, but 7m isk for a large gun, which has 1.5 million armor hitpoints to rep, simply isn't worth the effort.
