I was under the impression that the "focus fire" check box was to get all your drones to attack a single target at once.
So far tonight on Singularity I've had 2 hammerheads and hobs from my eos attack one target and my ogre attack a second target and more recently I had a 3/2 split between two ships.
Am I missing something, such as the game not recognizing the "focus fire" command if it results from a preference/settings copy until you manually enable it in the game client, or is the drone AI still a little twitchy?

not absolutely sure about that, but I have the option focus fire unchecked and they stick to the same target. maybe the function is switched so checking the box has the opposite effect of turning it off instead of on.

Having focus fire checked should make your drones focus fire.
What you are most likely experiencing (my guess) is the bug whereas drones will change targets. And it just so happens that some of them decided to change to the same target whereas others would stay on the previous target. --- How to resolve Singularity character syncing

Have you tried setting them to passive (the mode so they don't attack hostiles on their own) and focused fire? -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

They are better than they used to. I was pleasantly supprised when they all picked the same target. However, a few moments later one of them went astray and did it's own thing.
I just wish the options were directly on the drone control panel rather than within a menu. I quite often like my drones to split up, for example dealing with frigates.

Same happpens to me.
"Usually" they focus fire, but sometimes did not work. And still happens often that u send them to attack someonea nd after a bit of travel they change mind and decide to attack someone else.

i have this same issue, when focus fire box is checked, drones go 'willy-nilly' and pick random attacking targets.
when focus fire box is unchecked, they stuck to an singular target. i think ccp accidently got this setting reversed, and it doesn't surprise me with all the other stuff they got messed up atm. (overview issues, UI issues, actually seeing ships in space that aren't there, malformed killmails involving players and npc's, ect. the list goes on) [-Sio-] Oser's Shipping and Manufacturing Inc., CEO Endless Horizon |

Have the problem too, thats what is causing it:
Drones are set to agressive and focus fire
you have your drones on your target and your shooting that target too with guns missiles. When the target dies the drones will look for a new target.
the problem here is that they dont look for a new target all at the same time!
e.g. target A dies and 2 of your drones choose to attack target B, while the other 3 drones havent decided yet to attack target B. IF you attack now a target C those drones who havent decided on a target yet will attack target C and not target B.
I've petitioned it and BH said its an intended game feature. So you gotta life with it.

I've noticed that devs, GMs, and bug-handlers have a decided tendency to refer to any problem in a game that they do not, can not, or will not fix to be a "feature."

What the devil?? I haven't seen that yet, but I am VERY sad and angry that this bug is STILL in the game, going for 5th year now I think Do I have to come over and fix the god damn code??? It cannot be that hard, ffs

Well.. yeah, welcome to the Game develpment forum
I've had the same 'issue' tho. I just dont complain anymore. Drones havent been working for years - now they work 90% of the time.. It's good enough for me..

My sentiment as well, happy that they are better, but still room for improvement. I wonder how many ppl don't yet know that the drone options are availabe on that little white triangle thingie...
