Mobile warp disruption bubbles.
Are 'Micro warp drives' not 'warp features'?
I say, when inside a Mobile warp disruption bubbles. MWDs become inactive and useless.
Thoughts?

I agree entirely. Lets change the name of Microwarp drives to Super Booster rockets and then they can stay active in a disruption field just fine. -------------------

How about just make a new bubble with a webbing option. T1 warp/web bubble slow by 60% and the T2 version slows by 90%.

So... one is micro warp drive and other is mobile warp disruptor - as it says it disrupts warping. mwd = micro warping - so.. the ship will actually have tiny warps to get speed up.
conclusion: m w disruptor should disable mwd-s in radius?! ----------------------------------------------- Limit cloaks to cloaking ships! Or Make covert ops`s to scan prototype and improved cloaks!!!

Edited by: Chodie101 on 13/12/2007 18:43:17 I think micro warp drive is just a name - I don't see the use of it as being a 'warp' in the true sense.
Why?
Well, a true 'warp' involves your warp core locking on to a warpable object (stargate, planet, belt, whatever) and then warping to that specific object - whereas a micro warp drive, despite it having the word 'warp' in it's name is, in terms of it's operation nothing more than a chuck norris afterburner, which already gives increased penalties over a normal afterburner in exchange for the speed benefit it yields.
On that basis, a not signed from me on that one.

From what I understand of the (pseudo-)science, a warp core requires a quite a bit of positional computation in order to initiate warp. A warp scrambler hopelessly screws up any signals that the computer would use to figure out where the ship is in relation to anything else. Without knowing where one is in the universe (and any hazards around) one cannot warp.
Micro-warps form a low-level bubble with similar, but much weaker, properties than a true warp field. The module doesn't have to figure out any navigation, it just puts up the field for as long as power is supplied to it.
That's my take on the two. Constructive criticism is welcomed. _______________________________

That sounds believable.

Sorry, it may be called a Micro Warp Drive, but no actual warp take place, it's just a really big rocket shoved up the ass end of the ship that's using the word 'warp' to sound good.

Not signed, for balance reasons.
Bubble camps are strong enough as is. Burning back to the gate is one of the few means people have to escape them. This would reduce escaping bubble camps to either being in a Covops frig or having enough backup to wipe the camp out.
Same deal with web bubbles, those would be ridiculously overpowered if they could be combined with standard warp bubbles. -------------------- ICE Blueprint Sales FIRST!! -Yipsilanti Pfft. Never such a thing as a "last chance". ;) -Rauth |
