yeah a separate client is a must, the integration level is good - so that has to somehow be kept while allowing access OOG

Standalone client to be able to communicate when eve crashes. That's about what's holding most from switching.

Not having a standalone client is the main reason I dont use it for ops. Having it is key for people to use the fleet functions you have put in. Other then that only reason I use it for is to talk to some new recruits. If God was a number he would be over 9,000!!!!!!!!! |

A standalone client is what I would want most.
I won't use EVE Voice otherwise.

Another vote/request here for a separate client, biggest thing IMO. If you do this though, make sure you do it properly, be careful of locking up the UI if you end up using a mutex. Call MS, get an ADC involved if you don't have one already, it'll be worth it.
I'd like to be able to bind to ANY key and not just a few pre-selected ones. For instance, for TS I use the windows key, yes that silly little key MS thinks we want on gaming machines. I turned it off via a registry hack and instead use it for others things.
I'd like to be able to control just the EveVoice volume separately from any other volume controls. Perhaps, as the DevBlog, suggested having a difference in the FC's volume versus others, is something the client can control. Let me decide how loud the FCs are compared to others because some people speak more loudly and others do not, something CCP or anyone could never properly guess from one FC to the next.
Another thought on volume control, perhaps add volume compression so that everyone, even the soft speakers sound as loud as some guy yelling and screaming. You'll need a noise gate that drops anything below a certain threshold, but if you end up doing voice modulation, you'll have one of these anyway.

If you guys could make it so that Eve doesn't make my computer bluescreen when I turn audio on, I'd use it. Otherwise, probably not.

Client side voice morphing or banning of cross-gender accounts :)
But based on the 90% other posts I guess you'll have to work on this after making it a separate client. Pralay |

one thing only: uncouple eve voice from eve sound. currently activating eve sound incurs a 5% fps penalty. activating it only to get what an outside application can give me for a *0*% fps penalty is not worth it. additionally: uncouple eve voice completely from the eve client. i usually have teamspeak set up on my laptop, while my desktop runs eve.

Edited by: Sorela on 15/12/2007 11:20:06 1) Option to mute game sounds when hitting push to talk. This is pretty useful for non headset users who want the game sounds on. 2) Individual volume levels for players. This must include the ability to volume boost certain players who are way too quiet. If you could do some sort of normalizing system that automatically fixed everyones volume I'd kiss you for outdoing Vent. 3) Better UI for out of fleet voice chatting. 4) I don't care about an out of game client but nobody will use it till you do this so I guess I'm stuck saying you have to do it.
Another idea for the volume problem of some speakers would maybe be a hotkey where you could hold it whenever someone is talking if you want their voice boosted. This won't help with those really annoying people who are so loud that you almost have to mute them though or you can't hear anyone else. In general though the whole volume thing is central to what I want in a voice system. I'm not as young as I used to be and I can't stand teamspeak anymore due to it's inability to control a certain speaker's volume.

Options for 'Push to activate voice activation' (only current option?), *or just Push to Talk (with volume control)*, or just voice activation. At the moment it is kind of confusing how you even get EV to work and make noises, but with the option for just PTT with a simple volume control gets rid of messing around with voice activation for thems what want it simple.
And maybe a master EV volume, along with the music/UI/voice/master volume controls. And while your at it ADD A BACKGROUND NOISE VOLUME CONTROL! Sorry off topic a bit there lol

in order to be able to recognize what squad is currently speaking u may add a sound in the background. Quiet and gentle sound that wont make the speaker not-understandable. Beeeep for squad1, byyyyp for squad2, tiiiii for squad3, deeee for squad4 and so on. Maby also quick larger (very quick - less than 0.05 second)two, three beeps when commnader or a scout is speaking.
another thing is to add some music to eve and give another track for each sqiad as a background sound :D
Just an idea ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥-☻VENA☺-♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ |

wow you know this is like 3 pages of people asking for a stand alone client for eve voice right?
p.s. can we have a stand alone client for eve voice?
p.p.s. if we don't get a stand alone client after being asked what we want for eve voice it'll probably just stop being used alltogether.... cept maybe as a second chat thing to talk to corp mates while you're on an op

Not all players can use an audio client, and any fleet management aid should avoid discriminating against those who cannot join in audio comms.
Ie, give a full set of fleet, wing and squad chat windows to permit audio-enabled members of a fleet to permit comms with those who are not.
If EVE Voice becomes available OOG, make sure the textual chat windows are available there too. Join channel: "Eve University" or read here |

My vote is for having eve voice seperate from the client so that it can be used without starting the eve client, or to have it still stay connected to voice if the eve client crashes. --------------------------

Instead of having EVE Voice integrated with the client, make it a seperate process running alongside EVE (whether there's 1, 2 or more client running, you only need 1 voice). But instead of just moving Voice to a separate process, how about creating a nice and open interface between the EVE client and the Voice client?
If there's a clear interface between the two, other clients could be developed (for Vent or TS) that respond to the ingame commands and give the proper feedback to the EVE client to integrate just as well with EVE as EVE Voice does. Put a little thought into this and some work and it would be doable.
Of course, this is not very likely to ever happen, since you probably have some sort of exclusivity contract with the current provider, but it -is- what I would like to see most :)
Greetings, Grismar.

weve been telling u from its inception that if its isnt stand alone its not gonna get used. ts vent is mainly used in pvp and if the server becomes laggy or goes down the last thing u want is your voice coms doing the same untill it becomes stand alone i for one wont bother with it even with the great features it has.

Complaint #1: Fix thumb buttons to be used as push-to-talk keys.. I own a logitech G5 laser mouse, my thumb button is not bindable as push to talk with EV.
#2: OOG Client so comms remain stable through game crashes
#3: Ability to adjust your own bandwidth limitations for the client. 80% of my corp are dialup users who can't even hold a stable 28.8kbps connection.. This makes it a typing game for them, as its always been. (people on connections like this could care less about the quality of the chat as long as they can listen and understand.. crystal-clear quality means nothing if you can't make use of the feature to begin with.)
#4: semi-unrelated to EV but is at the same time. I own a Logitech g-15 keyboard with the lcd display. add features that vent/ts have available for people with these keyboards to see whos talking, ect. (and while your at it, add full g15 support for eve client. even having the 'watch list' on my lcd would make my life easy because more windows on my screen = bad, mmmmkay?)

Edited by: Crumplecorn on 16/12/2007 05:35:47 The lack of a mention of an OOG client in the blog suggests to me that CCP don't want to talk about it. They couldn't possibly not know people want it, its the one thing that comes up every time EVE Voice is mentioned.
Thinking about how one might, in theory, implement an OOG client which hooks into the game and relies on in-game structuring to organise its channels, but still works when that in-game structure disappears (crash), and doesn't have conflicts when that structure is being rebuilt (relogin and regang) gives me a headache though. Perhaps why it is not in the blog?
Voice modulation would consist of epic win and earn CCP over 9000 meme-based expressions of gratitude and excellence.
More options for push-to-talk, and automatic silencing of other game sound would also be nice. -

what I think we need is a new window similar to broadcasts or overview for eve voice which dislpays who spoke as well as the option for columns such as corp, alliance, system, standing (color coded or something in fleets to show WC, FC, SC or scout). this would work in well with the idea of repeating something said as you could r-click repeat on the fc order. might also wanna be able to aply filters to this window if there is to much talking going on make only fc/scouts appear. Also no matter how many times I tell ppl to use broadcast if they want armour they still shout it over ts/vent instead, pls allow r-click target if you make this new little box.
Other idea is add filters and priorities to eve voice eg. filter so only fc's hear scouts eg. priorities only here fc
Lastly can we get a way to mute ppl or do we already have one? and last time I tested I couldn't use my mouse 4,5 buttons properly for eve voice.
get to work my pretties u have much improvements to do. My Opinions are my own, not my corp's, not my friend's, and not my pet fedo's

Not sure about this, cuz i haven't really tried the evevoice thingy in depth.
I have 2 clients running (yes yes i am one of those gazzillion people who have 2 accounts, so what of it, ccp likes it that way) and i was wondering if it is at all possible to just set one of them as primary voice, even when it is minimized. So when i am busy doing something on one char i can still talk on the otherone.
atm thats the main reason i'm using ts over the eve voice. CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!! Magners is now recruiting, evemail me or Dagazbo ingame.

Originally by: CCP Wrangler The ability to communicate using your voice has been out there for a while now. With some recent improvements to EVE Voice we are planning to take it even further. But we want you, the users, to tell us what you'd like to see happen to EVE Voice. Please read the EVE Voice Feedback Dev Blog by Zulupark and then return here to give your feedback on what the future of EVE Voice should be.
Lots of good thing!
I would love to see Rolling Buffer introduced! Since I am a Norwegian, and not a natively english speaking person, different dialects and slang or just fast speaking people make it difficult for me to catch what the fleet commander said when I where doing fleet ops in my "earlier" days. Add to it interference on the line, cross-talk and that I hear very bad on one ear and not good on the other, makes this a thing I would love to see introduced!

Not all speak English fluently and being recorded creates pressure to speak at all.
Most important features would be more bindings and private messages to invidual users in same channel (with bindings preferably).
Out-of-game client seems to be must thing to have or atleast somekind of possibility that you can use eve voice prior to actually logging into space. Perhaps somesort waiting screen (like station, but with limited features) so you have some functionality available like chat channels, character sheet, evemail... That way you could avoid that nasty camp while still being able to enjoy some of the Eve's features and talking with your friends.
