Bullet please. Seriously, just think about it, to eat you literally have to have stuff shoved down your throat. And how the hell are you going to tell someone you need to **** in the middle of the night? Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. ~Andre Gide |

Well in both of those cases he would have a tube for nutrients and a cathader for relieving himself. I couldn't imagine the itching though, that's gotta drive a person mad. And who does the scratching for you? I mean what if your balls itch or something? ___________________________

I see all these articles about implanting chips into brains allowing people to type what they think or be able to move a robotic hand I wouldn't be surprised if within 10 years they are able to make a sort of exe-skeleton for people with paralysis. ___________________________

Hell, just hotwire a connection between the motor centers of the brain and the highest point of undamaged brainstem on the body. Running a bypass around the damaged parts.

Don't think it would work like that. The brain isn't like wires in a computer. Its more like a bunch of radio towers sending signals to each other. You'd have no way of making sure the right signals get to the right "tower"

Are you talking about the exoskeleton or just hotwiring around the damaged nerves?
Either way the article kinda describes what your talking about. They are working with the kid to have him think of certain vowels and they gather the information on the brainwaves associated with those vowels. I could see this process being done with any other function.
Results could possibly vary slightly from person to person like a fingerprint but I think a general template would work. ___________________________

The article only indicated that he thought about it, never said he wanted to die.

I can't imagine how terrible that would be, tbh. I think I'd welcome the insanity that would inevitably strike me; at least I'd be disassociated from my plight to some extent.
At least he could communicate with eye motion. Thank god for brain scans that show conscious activity... just think of being classified as vegetative when you were in fact aware but utterly unresponsive to the outside world.
living death :(

There was a reference there to another lock in case that had published a book that was recently made into a movie "The Butterfly and the Diving Bell".
He wrote it by blinking his left eye when the right letter was shown to him. Painfully slow only begins to describe it.
