Actually, there's an island in Lake Huron off the northern coast of Michigan's lower peninsula called Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw). Linkage
During the cold arse winters there, the lake freezes over and the ferries cannot get across to bring them supplies.
On a side note, the only motorized vehicles on the island are emergency vehicles. The rest is done w/ horses and bikes.
/been there a couple times, nice place.

USCGC Mackinaw (WLBB-30) is a 240-foot (73 m) vessel built as a heavy icebreaker for operations on the North American Great Lakes for the United States Coast Guard.
this is what the Mighty Mack has to be named after, an ice miner named after a real ice breaker? i think this makes sense.

Edited by: RedWyvern on 14/12/2007 21:13:46 on that topic, does the design of EVE pay homage to EV Nova? There are a few similarities scattered here and there. Take the Thorax and Valkyrie, for example;

Ochre is also a real type of rock, Bistot may also be but I'm not at all sure.
And Pyroxene is a type of mineral, similar to Feldspar. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?
