Edited by: Tzar''rim on 17/12/2007 01:14:38 I know that on the grand scale of things it's not important at all and it's just a few kills but the whole operation just made me smile. In total it took over an hour, here's the rundown what happened. Yeah it's a long post and no I don't do the short version :P
After being in low-sec for a bit I ventured into high-sec near Amarr and found a small mining OP, a Hulk with a Retriever both about 10 months old. Ofcourse they were using mining drones and ofcourse they were jetcan mining. I came in close and nicked 1 unit of ore from their can and got some distance again.
The Hulk pulled in it's mining drones and spewed out 5 T1 lights, the Retriever was still happy mining away with his mining drones. So I figured I'd play with em a bit, I targeted the drones, got within the Hulk's targeting range and waited for things to happen. Sure enough he locks me and sends in the drones, I align for a planet and kill off 2 drones before I have to bugger out.
I wait for my cap and shield to come back a bit and go back in, right away he sticks his 3 remaining drones on me, again I kill 2 and run like hell again. While at the planet I see something stupid on the scanner... He put out his mining drones again??? err WTF? I guess he didn't 'notice' me taking out his drones. So I go in again, scramble him and have at him, ofcourse he has no real tank whatsoever and he doesn't even switch to his 1 (lol?) drone. So I offer him a 50 mil ransom.
In the mean time his Retriever partner had warped out and the Hulk was stalling like mad, so I kept him at 20% structure while shooting him at times to negate his shieldboosting. I explained to him he had 20 seconds left and if I would see ships on the scanner he'd die regardless.
To my amazement I saw the retriever back on scanner, since I didn't expect that I was startled a bit, the retriever pulls up next to me, starts to target me, launches drones and scrambles me. At that point I start wasting the Hulk but couldn't keep myself from losing the Rifter. Turns out that that hulk was using T2 strips so quite a nice trade for a standard fitted Rifter.
I jump out, grab a new Rifter and head back again, hoping to catch the retriever but I missed him, after joking around a bit (waiting for my timer) I rush back to the belt, only to see that same guy again in an Impel, so I MWD to the remaining cans, jettison 1 emp S and flip the cans. At that point they got a corpie to help out in a Cyclone so I had to bugger off again. I waited till my timer ran out, then warped back to the belt to see a nicely red flashing Impel \o/
So I MWD to him, scramble him and start attacking him while his buddies couldn't do a thing. Sadly he was packing WCS so he warped off. I quickly opened the market window to buy 2 7.5k scramblers.... 2 jumps away GRRR. I rush there, quickly refit for 4 points, undock rush back to the system again... but that guy is not in system anymore AAARRGH :(
I go to a remote spot outside their scanning range, wait 2 minutes and low and behold... there he is again. Since I expected him not to be completely stupid I warped to the planet first to see what he was flying but... WTH, he's still in his Impel
I warp to the belt, put my 4 points on him and ransom him for 30 mil, at which he says he doesn't have it... so he gets blown up again while his friends could only watch looking real buff by having me targeted.
To give the whole episode some more flair I decided to nick the 2 T2 expanders right under the nose of that Cyclone (who still had me targeted), he didn't even open fire when I nicked the modules and aligned to warp out.
Now the GREAT thing is that in this whole thing (and I got a thorax just before that using the can trick) I didn't lose one ounce of sec. status, so that means more high-sec fun
screenie
That just completely made my day :)

Nice work! Not bad for high sec but because of the stupidity of those guys, you didnt get killed and got lucky.

indeed, note to self, fit hulk with scram and web
not worth messing with rifters most of the time as they can always just go back to station and get something bigger

Pretty stupid of him, or his friend, to warp in and engage you again while your holding him at 20% hull.
The outcome there was obvious :)
Good work though, it's always fun and exciting when you get to whip a fight out of someone in high sec : ) -------------------------------------------------- "Every complex problem has a solution which is easy, neat and wrong!" |

flipping cans used to be relatively high income too before invention when those tech II expanders cost 25 mil a piece ... sometimes you'd kill one of those haulers or mining barges and have 50-80 mil drop on you
