Today me and my mates have been experiencing some unusual server lag. Is this normal or is it just my internet?
Thanks,

depends on:
1. Where you are in the world in relation to the server...the server is in london btw 2. status of the net between you and london...alot of internet to go through for some people...a storm someplace no where near you can give you problems. 3. Where you are in EVE...Jita is notorious due to the number of players there, and the stuff they are all doing. 4. When you were playing. Some problems from the patch are slowing things down, due to be fixed tomorrow, and the number of players on at once on, say, a sunday, are much higher then normal as people are checking out the patch.

There is no lag. The game server logs say so. All 33k of you are deluded, and should continue to enjoy the slideshow.

Edited by: Lady Natacha on 17/12/2007 20:34:14 "Unusual" server lag was recently introduced by CCP to draw attention away from the "regular" server lag. This was marketing's idea.
Seriously though, it is probably going to lag every time the game gets more than 30K players on at the same time. With school letting out and the holidays approaching it is going to get worse before it gets better. Stay out of Jita and all the usual lag-reducing nonsense.
Classic client FTW!

you due understand that the amount of server lag thats present has nothing to do with if you are using classic or premium? Local graphics lag is very different then server lag.
in any case, as empire becomes more populated, Jita level lag will be present in more places then just Jita. Out where I live in 0.0, the server is as snappy as ever.

It's bad enough with so many players online without the server having to store locations of so many cans as well. --

Cans hardly contribute to server lag actually. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in Forum Warfare Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.76.2 |

Yes, I'd imagine that they only affect you if you are on the same grid as them, otherwise they are just sitting in the database. They take database space, yes, but otherwise I can't see why they'd affect much.

I'm not sure, but I think that cans are stored on the server...however, based on their attributes secure cans have about one tenth of the attributes of a player ship. So really, it would take ten secure cans to equal one player ship.
