Some people choose NPC corps for the 0% tax and because they can't get wardec'd.
Players in starter NPC corps are usually alts or they are training a character to sell (either legally or illegally)

For example, because he left his previous corp and hasn't bothered to go looking for a new one yet. Or because he's a solo player (lowsec pirate, whatever).

Since I never really have found a corporation where I can feel at home - I left and then joined a NPC corp. However, since I could not be arsed with the low intelligent NPC corp chat, I made my own corp untill the very moment I find a home.
1. I love eve and all its aspects, but I am horribly in PvP, so I decided to stay out of it for now. So living in a Deep space region is pretty much impossible for me atm. since I dont want to do PvP. I simply want to play EVE -My- way, not others way!
2. Yes I have friends in many other corporations. I speak with them. Sometimes fly with them. But since I like to do some missions now and then, mining now and then, PvP now and then - all when I feel for it and want for it - I want to stay where I feel comfy.
3. Deep space corporations have to much millitaristic presence for me. Do it our way or get booted.
4. Building a home in deep space is difficult at best since you always stand to loose your home and all your "inventory". Its EVE ofcource, and I dont want it to change. I know that to many this is EVE. So I have found it to play EVE the way I love it: In a more quiet enviroment.
5. For me EVE is freelancer and Elite Fronter, but in a larger online world. PvP have never been my strong side.
6. Again I love EVE. if I can play it my way. I wont advocate for making it more "carebear". I just want it to stay as it it. Let they who wants to stay in NPC corps stay there, while they who wants to stay in Deep space have that option.
There is enough entertainment in my honest opinion to suit the PvPer and the carebear!

In my case it's because I'm more of a casual gamer. I don't get to play much so I don't believe I'll have much to offer a corp.
Saying that as of the 27th I'll be able to blow bubbles from my 'dictor, which there's admittedly not a vast calling for in an NPC corp but this was one of my self-imposed objectives in case I changed my mind at a later date.

People like to have high sec alts that can always make them money without risk of wardec. Do remember that a lot of 0.0 heavy duty pvpers have high sec carebear alts, and given that you can make a good income from high sec, it mean that income sustainability is less volitile. I mean, how do you stop a npc corp alt making isk to give to his 0.0 main? The Answer is that you cannot. --

I have 2 accounts with 2 main players and 4 market alts in NPC corps.
I leave them in NPC corp for 2 reasons
1) Anonimity (is that even a word) 2) To not clutter up corp numbers with useless alts.
So even though they are 1,2,3 yrs old they have no skills trained, just an easy way to check market prices instead of moving mains around. -- eve-guides.com All about POSs, Outposts, Exploration, Mining, EVE Database + much more!! |

I'm in an NPC corp because it suits my play style, gives me an stream of interesting people to talk to, because I enjoy helping people new to the game and because I work for a RL corp.
If I want corporate objectives, ego's, personal politics, compulsory corp events, etc. - I'll go to work and get paid for it

In the npc starter corp because many corps don't like you just skilling for months at a time and not actually doing anything else. |

If I was in a player corp. I would be booted, many in npc/starter corps just donĘt have the time to commit 1-2 hrs a week 2 hrs at the weekend, some laid back corps say no problem, then request/demand your help with corp duties.
Fair point you join a corp to work together, so thatĘs one reason why so many are not in player corps.
Not everyone in npc corps has an alt/main in 0.0

What was stated here is very much true, I have one toon. Been playing sence 04 this guy was and will always be my main. Have tried in the past 2 weeks to find a corp with ties to 0.0. I have had offers then hook up with them in chat then it ends there. Why 0.0 I have 50mill in sp and would like to try to make some isk for cap and dred ship. But Im sure I'll never fly them.
And I have made and help start many corps in eve, so my history is a bit long. And have touched about every part on the pvp side of eve. Time is a big issue, I work 10 and 4 my last corp didn't think I was putting out. So I left, tired of the bs on vent. So there are many issues as to why people just stay in a noob corp. I just cant find a corp that can deal with my play time.....

PPL that stay in NPC corps remind me of the sad tossers aged about 20 who'd hang around the school gates at closing time to pick up the 13 yr old slappers thinking they looked cool!

1. I don't play well with others.
2. I'm a casual player and when I do get a free hour, I'm not going to spend it helping someone who could probably accomplish their goal on their own if they'd spend 5 minutes thinking about it.
3. The most interesting part of the game for me doesn't require a corp. I like to play the market and make cash and frankly, I make more money if my helpers are employees rather than grubby guildmates who expect handouts.
I just don't have much need for a corporation. I've joined a few in the past, and I always found that I was losing more than I was gaining, in terms of time and resources.

I stay with the an NPC corp because they are my friends... they talk to me when it's quiet...
They warned me when the chipmunks came back-- and when my food had that poison in it. Haha-- oh, silly Satan.
Yes. Yes, the NPC people are my friends. Why do you think I should ignore them? I think you're ONE OF THE CHIPMUNKS
