I am going out of town for a two weeks and would like to train a long skill. These are my options: - AWU5 - cruisers 5 - med energy turret 5
I have about 5.6 mil skill points, and I currently fly an omen running level2 missions. I would like to move into a battlecruiser and run level3 missions soon. I have been focusing on fitting and cap skills.
As T2 hacs are expensive, I probably won't be training cruisers to 5 just yet. I'd rather progress through battlecruiser and then battleship first.
I guess what I'm asking is whether it would be better to train AWU5 at this stage of my character (about 24 days to finish it), or attempt to get T2 medium lasers for a battlecruiser. I've haven't flown battlecruisers yet, so I'm wondering what all of you think is best.
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. --- "Eat a third and drink a third and leave the remaining third of your stomach empty. Then, when you get angry, there will be sufficient room for your rage." -Babylonian Talmud |

Edited by: Cleric JohnPreston on 22/12/2007 12:17:25 Id go for AWU5, makes a hell of a difference in Fitting the nastier top end weapons etc. Youll benefit better in the long run when you hit BS etc.

Agreed in fact try and max out all the skills you use for fitting out the ships you fly and the other support skills as well like cap and grid etc etc.

T2 guns will make the single biggest difference, will be useful for your battlecruiser, later HAC and are prerequisite for T2 large guns.
AWU V is nice but boring. Cruiser V is nice, but not quite as useful as T2 guns as you won't fly a t2 cruiser without t2 guns anyway.

if you want to fly BC's then for the love of whatever train that skill!!!11!ELEVEONONE1!
the thing about flying maxed out ships only hold for pvp and you said you do lvl2's it is much more fun to get into a bigger ship and do some lvl3's (and for missions.... bigger IS better)

I'd say AWU5, its boring but helpfull. cruiser/med turrets 5 is also boring, but at least you get something shiney when you finish training it, so going on a break set awu5, that way it'll be 2 weeks closer to done when you come back and cant change it when you are gone cause it is boring 8) ----- GIEV custom ship paint jobs! cruiser 5 lets you train hacs, but you can't fly hacs until you can fit t2 guns. t2 mediums probably your best bet. I've been playing a year and a half and I'm still only at AWU 4 and I've never needed the extra 10 pg it'd give me.
So in my opinion, medium turrets 5

Turret 5 (allows for t2 guns on your hac later) -> crusier 5 (allows for hac, recon, etc, needs t2 fittings anyway), awu 5, not much of a bonus for 25 days of training, but eventually needed for dreads)

Train Med Engery Turret 5.
If you don't plan on using hacs, then wait on cruiser 5.
AWU5 is silly. If you have your electronics and engineering up and have up to AWU4, then it's rare to find something thats hard to fit. Only in rare cases of ceptors and other crazy off-the-wall fittings do you ever really _need_ AWU5, and in those cases you could even use a hardwire instead. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have, but other things are more important in your current stage of training.
Go for medium guns, and get your medium spec to 4 and you'll be set running your missions with t2 guns. When you're ready to spend the isk on hacs, then go for cruiser 5. Wait on AWU5 until you don't have anything else to train.

hmmmm....
if you haven't learned Cruiser V yet, that might be a very good choice. Tech 2 cruisers (and after that, Command Ships) are extremely fun to fly ;)
that said, you *can* skip it and go directly to battleships, in which case you'll probably want AWU 5.
but for me, I couldn't live without my zealot and curse ;)
