Eve is not designed to appeal to children, nor are many, many other games.

Verdict: FAIL!
Yeah. Who would pay to play with imaginary things?
Oh, wait...
Well, it was obviously a fail gift for not getting something "real" like a tie or a sweater. _______________________________ I need new voices in my head, To speak my secret evils with. I need new lovers in my bed, To be my friends and special pets. |

As the in-game friend who co-ordinated this, thanks to those of you that "get" it. Cel and I were working on getting him his carrier when I got wind of his wife's idea. To be frank it seemed like a great present for a wife to get her avid gamer husband. Regardless of it's lifespan it IS the thought that counts.
Merry Christmas everyone, even you bitter, mean-spirited trolls!

I feel sorry for the people who don't appreciate the wonderful sentiment and effort his wife went through. For most of us this is merely an enjoyable hobby. The fact that his wife was willing to indulge in his hobby is nothing but ultimate win.
The losers and malcontents in this thread can't do anything other than try to crap on it. They don't understand it and aren't in relationships where their significant others are happy to help them enjoy their hobby. Instead of trying to **** on this thread perhaps you should try to learn something instead...

Originally by: Celeste DiTaken I don't usually post a whole lot around here, but the whole EVE world needs to know how awesome my wife is.
She doesn't play EVE, she plays the occasional puzzle game. She doesn't much care for games at all really, but this year she got me a Chimera for Xmas!
For months she conspired with in game friends to sell time codes, buy AND fit the Carrier.
That's it, I just could not let that go without telling anyone who will listen (or read).

that is too cool dude, alot of times a game like this would kill a relationship, nice to see that your wife knows how much ya like the game. i hope everyone has a safe holiday

Seriously, I don't know why people are randomly flaming with alts in here.
Myself and my (now ex) GF used to buy eachother random stuff all the time as gifts. She put the price of two 8800 ultras together for my last machine I built, knowing full well I'd be hammering Eve on it.
I got her a PS3, and later a 360, knowing full well she'd be bashing buttons and waking me up to play at 4am.
We still speak constantly and buy eachother random crap all the time. My next present for her is probably going to be a Nvidia 9 series DX10 card when they hit the shelves cos she's currently dribbling over crysis and waiting for Half Life 2 : EP3.
I have no doubt in my mind that if we wanted stuff so badly in an online game, that one of us would get it for the other as a surprise gift, just for a laugh.
In Eve it's a gift like any other tbh.

Verdict: FAIL!
Has nothing to do with any of that.
What it has to do with is a guy who has a wife who is cool enough to think of a very creative gift and go to some effort to make it happen. More, she doesn't even see gaming as a hobby worth pursuing but doesn't question that her husband enjoys it and supports him in that enjoyment.
What we have here is a WIN for an obviously very cool wife (and we should not forget his in-game friends who also assisted). The OP sounds like a lucky guy to have such good friends (they could have ripped him off...many in EVE would) and what sounds to be a great wife.

What an excellent gift. She obviously put alot of time and thought and planning into this. So regardless of her views on EVE or lack thereof, she knows it makes you happy and went with it.
