I'm getting a bit tired of seeing how easy it is to deploy a cyno and have an insta-gank Cap fleet drop out. Carriers and Moms are not 911 or gankmobiles.
I've seen it mentioned before, somewhere, and I think it's a great idea.....
After a Cyno-jump the Cap ship(s) should have a 15 minute module activation delay.
(I might even settle for a 15 minute delay for only fighter/drone deployment.)
No ship as powerfull as a Cap should be able to wield its firepower so....... instantly?

15 minutes is a bit extreme. Maybe something like 3 minutes, or make it so the jump drive has to charge up before jumping you to the destination. (make it have a cool charging effect too!)

I have 3 alts that can. One of those has and lost it months ago. Never replaced it for fear of the then empending fighter nerf.

Actually 911 and gankmobiles are EXACTLY what carriers and moms are. I mean, they can assign you fighters, they can absorb huge amounts of damage, and they're on-board power systems allow them the ability to cross multiple systems instantly. Makes sense to me.
Cap ships are already vulnerable when emerging from a cyno jump due to their long alignment time, so an enterprising opponent still has opportunity to scram them and jump a BS wing on top of them.

Would be a cool idea.
As long as the Cap can still warp during this timeframe. So it doen't have to be a sitting duck, sort of.

15 minutes is easily enough to kill a cap ship, so your idea is essentially flawed, as it won't be able to defend itself.
Next: I mentionned something like this in an Awox thread, but I said 2 minutes. Which seems wholly more reasonable, also during those 2 minutes, they should not be lockable. Therefore essentially they're not in the battle yet, but you know they're coming. -- Banned since 2005, back by popular demand! They said it wouldn't happen!! |

Capitals are not powerfull at all. you gett more dps from a torpraven\megathron or any other gank battleships.
They shuld have a 15 min delay to when they jump into systems

I've seen more than one Cap killed in about 2 minutes. On a couple occasions too.
Why should a Cap be able to defend itself right out of a cyno drop? Isn't that what a supporting fleet is for ?
HotDrops just seem far too easy as it is now.
A Cyno jump should cause some sort of temporary module interference.... or some sort of JumpDrive charge-up before a jump, as mentioned a few posts up.

I agree only on the DPS, IF you're not assigning fighters. Also, NO Battleship can tank nearly as well as a Cap, even if the Cap sits passively and is unable to activate modules.... even though the Cap's tank is broke by incomming DPS most likely.
Originally by: Ricier They should have a 15 min delay to when they jump into systems
I could settle for some sort of JumpDrive charge-up or power surge or Cyno Jump Reconfiguration... Whatever the story writes come up with.....
BUT need to keep in mind of the Cyno deployment time itself. So the JumpDrive charge-up would have to be more like a couple minutes at most.

Well why not put the timer on the ship that is making the cyno? Say a 30 seconds before the cyno is made. Maybe 15. However I see no point as it would just force people to use uber plated ships to jump in a cap.

What I'm wanting, basicaly, is to severely limit the ability to HotDrop with Cap ships.
As it is, it's just too easy to deploy large ammounts of firepower instantly via HotDrops 'almost' anywhere within a few solarsystems. The only warning 'the other side' gets is the Cyno deployment. That warning, when done right, is only seconds and then local just blooms with ready to fight Cap fleet.
It's just too easy.

15 min with no tank after jumping... One lone HAC can kill a cap in that time frame.... Just and attempt to get handed an "I WIN" button.
that being said... Khatred.. A vampire Guinea Pig? Awsome pic.

If 2 people are coordinated enough, to HotDrop you, lock you and proceed to scramble you, BEFORE you notice a shadey in local and warp away to safety, they deserve to kill you for their effert and you deserve to be killed for your lack-of.
Rule of thumb in low-sec, chars that look like alts are generally a bad sign, and rule of thumb in no-sec, prepare to be ganked.

I agree with most of what you've stated. Dumm-Dumms deserve to get pwnd.
but with hotdropped moms ?!?! Jesus ******* christ , to use your own words...
For the record, noone cares anyhow, I have never been ganked and lost a ship due to this tactic.

then your whine is completely baseless, along with your suggestion. People train long periods of time to fly these ships, the least they should be able to expect is their weapons to be responsive after all that training, numb nuts.

I'm so glad you didn't also bring up the whole "But I spent BILLIONS of isks on my wtfbbqpwnmobile!!! I win Eve and will do as I please with it and without risk!!!!"

where did i say these ships should be WTFPWNMOBILES?! Im defending the fact that the months of training for these SUPERIOR ships, the least a pilot of these ships should expect is their weapons to be responsive.
You're just trying to nerf a ship with no rhyme or reason. I mean, after all you still have provided no reason to nerf weapons activation time, after all you WERENT ganked in low sec by a cap or super cap, right?

And why exactly is any of this a problem? Seems like a valid tactic to me. Isn't that the whole point of having a jump drive? Having mobility and being able to quickly deploy lots of firepower into a fight?
