Originally by: Cassidy Usaro its not just realted to ATI gfx cards, its also low-budget Nvidia. The issue itsself is related to dynamic texture loading a new feture of the trinity engine, which sometimes does not happen properly when more than 1 client is loaded.
This happened to me already on around june 2007. Not sure which GFX engine was running that time. But i had GF6600GT... so well... budget? ;p

If you're using dual-screen some Graphics cards create a virtual 'clone' of themselves (or so it appears, I'm not sure of the exact technicalities) so setting one client to one card and the other to the other should sove most issues, or certainly it did for me.
Another alternative would be to run two seperate clients if you aren't already, rather than two instances of the same client.

I get this with my Nvidia 7800 GTS 256M
Used to happen pre trinity when running 3 clients. Now it happens post trinity with 2 clients.
Pretty sure its memory running out related.
Turning off the graphics cache seems to help ( It happens less often ).

I have also had this issue when running two clients on my old computer and this was pre Trinity.
I filed many bug reports with DXdiag files and eve log server reports but always got the "this cannot be reproduced reply".

had this bug since around June 2007 aswell. Whenever i'm running 2 clients, 90% of the time one of them has all backgrounds white and that client runs insanely badly, seems random which client turns white. Have a x1600 mobility and been upgrading to newest drivers since then [This space for rent]

I had the problem with white ships and stations. but i was using 1 client. It took CCP about 2 weeks to tell me that my computer was not strong enough to run the game. I was low on RAM and CPU power to handle the game. So I got more RAM, over clocked the CPU and was able to play the game.
If you are Upgrading from the old engine to the new one. check and see if your computer can run over the recommended. If this is happening when you have 2 clients I bet that you are running out of RAM and CPU power.

Originally by: CCP Atropos Have you filed a bug report on this issue? We're keen to resolve issues that players are having with the Trinity engine.
PS: I'm Sorry Atropos. But CCP did not help me vary well when I had problems. I had to do about 75% of the work to figure out technical problems with the game. Another reason I don't like the CCP GMs is that they only can replay to me once per day when I needed help(Thats why I was waited 2 weeks).
I am vary surprised how bad Tech support is when I pay about $130 USD a year to play the game.

Also clicking ESC on 1st client helps you launch 2nd client (when otherwise youd get blinking screen and windows would die)
BUT: it doesnt fix white light appearing and only works once per game launch (so if you get white light again it wont help you this time)

I submitted a bug report on the same problem, long ago (x1950xt here), but after the few standard requests like clearing cache, /lua..., reinstall, I got no response.
However, a temporary solution to the issue exist: you have to use oblsolete graphic drivers: Catalyst 7.4 or older. Catalyst 7.5 or more recent, and you get this problem.
Note that this issue started when Eve started sharing the settings outside the installation folder, for windows vista. ------------------------------------------

Originally by: Nova Satar http://img178.imageshack.us/img178/9755/whiteownagene1.jpg This is what I get when running more than 2 clients, usually if they are in the same system but it can be very random. I have an ATI x1950 pro, its not the card as I have tried my spare x1950pro and it still has the same issue. Anyone else have this? ( I am using the latest ATI drivers ).
At least you can be happy, you only have that. Or not, you don't try long enough.
Habitually, there is too a FPS drop (the game is more slow than habitually). This bug always happens when you use the first client a good amount of time, so the second one will have this curiousity. But if you had launched the two clients at the same time, you would have no problem (at begin at least, don't know after some hours).
If you continue to use the first client a few more time after you have this white screen, you will probably encounter a Black Blinking Screen of the Death (something like this, very funny) : [Linkage]
When a BBSOD happens, kill EVE process is the top priority, if you manage to do it... I have to reboot or initiate a shutdown (while shutdown, when EVE is killed, monitor became normal).
The only existing solution to avoid this white screen (or worse) : Close periodically the first client.
If you do this, you will not encounter this problem, and can launch a second one at any moment. I practise to do this, same if it is really annoying.
Don't try to update drivers or other things, it is useless (tested with my Nvidia 6800).
Of course, I did a bug report with no success. They want a .dump that never exist (as EVE never crash in both situations, the client only relaunch itself indefinitely), and now I have sold my 6800 and still wait my 8800GT so I can't test anymore, but I am sure that I will have it again.

For logservers, all seems happen because there is a video memory leak (not RAM, I mean the memory of the graphics card). This line is reproduced nearly all the time in 15 Megabytes of logs created in less of one minut of BBSOD.
I think I can trust this, as I often open some EVE videos as the same time that I play at EVE, and sometimes when the EVE client was launched a long time, I can't play anymore a video, same if it is one who work fine... When I see that, I launch a second client and... O***kk, reboot.
This is not a hardware problem, or I don't understand why Crysis or others don't do this. They certainly use more power than an EVE client... _______

Try to click ESC (go to options) and click ESC again - back to game. After this i can ALWAYS launch 2nd copy w/o getting BBSOD (w/o ESC trick ill always get one).

Edited by: NightmareX on 16/03/2008 15:52:42 This might be a little necro, but that doesn't help when we still have this problem.
Well i went from Catalyst 7.3 that worked perfect for me in EVE with all of the graphic options on max etc to Catalyst 8.3 now.
I have a Radeon X1900XT 256 MB card from Asus, and i have found out that i can run everything on max on the graphic settings except for 2 things.
Catalyst A.I and Anti-Aliasing. The Catalyst A.I have to be on Standard, and not on Advanced. And the Anti-Aliasing can only be on 4x for me and not on 6x.
I also think this is a problem with the memory, since i know Anti-Aliasing and that uses alot of memory.
