Now I'm a coward, and being a coward I hate to fight, and would resent being station camped to no end like any sane person. I also loathe opening my "assets" page and seeing a billion different stations with stuff in them, with about 100 jumps to get everything. So to go against this I liquidate everything I own barring one Hulk /Covert Ops and the fittings, and travel around buying and selling what I need at the moment to avoid being "pinned down" by my personal assets. This leads me to have "Adventures" so to speak; daring POS Re-arming raids for a friend, massive amounts of travel to see the sights (Like C6 Worm Holes and all but one of the game's shattered planets) and I have such a wonderful time with absolutely no obligation to do anything or guard any posessions.
Now I've been thinking; this nomadic way of living may be more satisfying and more emotionally fulfilling, but I've come to this realization that it is "bad for business"; I don't have standings above or below 0 to any faction worth mentioning (Bad for refining my aquired Mercoxit and ABC), I waste ISK on buying ships only when I need them, then selling them immediately when I'm done. Above all, this nomadic way has prevented me from getting chummy with all but five people in the whole game, making me miss out on the more social aspects.
In your opinion, would it be better? Settle down, join a corp and do things with people? Or continue on my merry way doing what I do best? I know this is a sandbox game, and there is no set way to play, but I wish to have some feedback from the community The pie is a tautology |

Try it and see if you like it. It's the only way. I think you are completely right about the nomad lifestyle being a bad business decision. But if it's more fun for you, that should be more important than ISK/hour. If you go for the nomad's lifestyle, you should look into training for an Orca, though. These things are sweet as a mobile base, i hear.
Kind of a middleground (maybe even best of both worlds?) would be joining a wormhole corp and live out of there, taking advantage of the constant change of neighbour systems. It's The Legendary Extraordinary Me |

Understand what I mean when I say that's a difficult corp type to find. WH corps I find are just Null corps too small to exist in normal space, and they don't really roam much from what I've seen. I'll look at them again, and see what's up. The pie is a tautology |

I have been serious. I just had the idea about one week ago. A huge high sec corp, moving around, stirring up trouble, completely crushing the economy and markets where they show up, wardeccing every corp in the sector and then moving on. I don't know if someone has done that yet, but it sounds like a fun idea. But I fear I am not ruthless enough to pull that through- but I am working on it.

A) If your having fun why bother changing it other than to just simply see what your missing or to do it for doings sake. Its neither right nor wrong.
Yes you ARE losing isk on buying and selling immediately.
What you could do is set up a few things in a central region to each faction and keep stuff there and NOT worry about moving it. When I started Eve we colonized a constellation so to speak and staged out of a single high sec station. Since Ive branched out, moving wherever theres lucrative opportunities or just something different to do so I didnt get bored.
So I set up FOBs wherever Id stay for a few months at a time in a centralized area. After a while sure I had stuff everywhere, high, low, null.... but it meant that I could always just pick up and move to another area quite quickly and not worry about not having ships for combat, PvE or whatever else close at hand.... at least the essentials. So I was never but a few jumps away from whatever I needed. Strength isnt measured in numbers but in force of will. For if one motived willful individual stands many will fall around him that are weak.

There's no need to join a corp, as long as you know people you can do stuff with. :)
I'm pretty much always in my one-man-corp, but currently i'm having a blast with alliance mates i know. :D There's no need to join their corps or alliance, because the differences are only imaginary anyway ! :D

Do what feels most fun at the time, and don't be afraid of changing your mind on what it is that seems fun Try your idea out for a time, see if you end up missing some aspect or other, go do that, go back to being a nomad, etc. The beauty of this game, you're not really locked into a path unless you choose to be.
What you described is kind of what I do, and I hate having stuff scattered around just as much, uck! I do have a small group of alts in one location doing some industry things because I like to have that as a side project to sometimes shift focus to entirely (IMO industry is a fun challenge, and it's good money after a while). I have a location where I keep most of my crap and I like being able to take off and do whatever wherever might seem interesting, coming back to the "base" sometimes for supplies. I've had this idea of getting some people together with a mobile base of operations like a carrier or two and blops for quiet transport of people themselves, and jumping around various null systems that aren't cynojammed, stirring up "excitement" for local residents, farming said residents and NPC's. However, more people = more problems and I know I'll probably get bored of this soon enough I don't want to organize anything so I bum around the universe on my own, and having lots of fun.
My favorite place to live has become w-space, I like the stealthy aspect and it's always possible to find interesting things to do there and in all the k-space that can be accessed through wormholes. It's like a magic gateway to the rest of space. I think some people mind find my way of playing lonely, but I don't really crave social interaction so meh. You mingt find a number of like-minded people in wh corps, there are all kinds and types of wh corps out there, not just "I wish I were in null but this'll do for now" type of people. |

I do the nomad thing a lot.
Learn to fly an Orca, it can make moving to a new area SO much easier. In an Orca you can fit a collection of fitting parts and ammo in the 40,000m3 corp hangar and the 400,000m3 maintenance bay allows you to carry ready to go ships. There is also a potential of around 90,000m3 in the regular cargo bay which for a while I carried an unassembled battleship (50,000m3) which I would assemble at the next level 4 agent to grind standings (I would have to replace the rigs, annoying but not terrible).
In one series of trips I used the Orca to pack a Noctis and a T3 ship rigged out as well as a couple smaller ships for errands. I would enter a constellation and run around it doing exploration. If I found stuff I would deal with it, bring in the Noctis to salvage everything, pack it all up and move on to the next area. I would sometimes find Grav sites and would run throught the belts and find a couple miners that were interested and collected a few nice finders fees.
Also, worst case of learning the Orca, you have a nice unscannable cargo ship.
In low sec though I generally would enter an area with nothing more than a rookie ship and build up a fleet in the system/constellation . When I was tired, or got chased out, I would just move on. Everything on those trips was 'expendable' and 'what I could afford to lose'. I've met a lot of nice people in low sec actually, it isn't the total sewer that some claim it to be. Being a nomad doesn't mean you can't say hi in local. Hell, I've had some great conversations with people trying to kill me, it was almost like a bad gunfight scene from an 80's action movie.
One thing I can honestly say from flying in the nomad life, if I lost all my isk, ships, and 'stuff' I would have no problem building up again for another run at the game. Me, a Reaper, and a single trit ready to take on the galaxy again! Eve is a sandbox, what you build in it and enjoy is totally up to you. Why are my neocom icons so tiny? Oh, you can widen and narrow the bar. Cool.-á |

Try meeting other nomads on your journeys. Strike up convos in local and see if you find anyone with similar interest or join up with local fleets/corps if only for one time. Maybe live life as a mercenary and make some cash fighting war after war.
Honestly there are a lot of possibilities for a nomadic lifestyle. Trere are many careers that benefit a nomadic lifestyle. For example being a merchant nomad would have great benefits, moving from new place to new place selling and buying goods.
Or you could join a pirate gang. Warp into a system, slaughter everyone and take their stuff and move on before their back-up arrives. By never attacking the same spot twice (at least with frequency) people will never know when and where you will strike next.
Basically if you take nothing else from this post, try to meet people everywhere you wind up. The next time you pass through that system or bump into an old friend you could always fly with them.
Probably the greatest benefit I can think of for being a nomad in EVE is that each experience will be different.

The problem with a 'nomad' corp is that someone would wardec it.. The only reason I'm in a corp right now is to dodge the taxes, if I were to be war decced then my crop would go poof. Arguably the NPC corps are Nomad Player Corps.
But I can see it, 'Space Gypsies' or something. 'Pirates of the Kharma Being' maybe (yes, that was a corp of mine at one point). Why are my neocom icons so tiny? Oh, you can widen and narrow the bar. Cool.-á |

With the advent of CCP allowing dec shielding and corp hopping from war decs simply creating new corps on the fly wouldnt be such an issue imo. So really only the name would change. perhaps make an alt and poke your head into a few corps, see if they are worth even trying. Then maybe bring in your main.
Although, currently your not tied down to logging in and camping a systems (+1), you're not stuck bashing POS (+1), you're not bound down to one system (+1).
do what makes you happy. If you feel like you need more human interaction, perhaps your gaming style might be able to attract new people into a corp you are about to start. . |

A few observations.
One is that there is no reason, if you are playing solo, to be in a NPC corp. Peeps seldom dec one man corps. Even if they do all you need to do is use your 2 alts that come with your account to create 2 NPC corps. Your main than joins one. If that corp gets decced, move your main to the other one. Just quitting and creatign a new corp works as well, but I assume you came up with a neat name or something or just don't want to move stuff around.
I also spent much time corp hopping when I first started. Every corp I joined either fell apart or didn't do a damned thing...or wanted to exploit you in some way while offering little or nothing in return. For example, joining an 'industrial' corp where you have 10% tax but you are not allowed access to any blueprints...and they won't build anything for you at any better price than just buying it off the market.
I've been told I am crazy...because I want to belong to an organization in which I get some benefit for what I give up....so I went corp to corp and finally stopped because it was pointless and made me look suspicious.
So, I took a break from corps for awhile, created my 1 man corp...got wardecced a couple months later and so created the 2 corp thing I mentioned above. It works well.
I tried building my own corp but it seemed about 60% of possible recruits were just spies/corp thieves. Of the remaining 40%, virtually all of them were newbs. I don't mind helping newbs but it seemed once they got trained...they left. Much effort for no gain even if that gain was companionship in a corp.
I eventually found a good corp. Not perfect, but good and stuck with them for over a year now. However, 99% of the corps out there recruiting are crap.
====
A Second observation is that when I did this, I was very nomadic. I also didn't like crap everywhere. However, there is an easy way to consolodate. There are a large number of peeps out there that will courier for you. Just pick a station (Like Jita 4-4) and make courier contracts to move your crap there. They don't charge all that much and is certainly better than hauling it yourself. You can lead a nomadic life and 'clean up' without much effort every few weeks.
