Its beautiful!
I am blown away by the universe map and ship viewer. I can see the waves of new players already. Very intuitive, easy on the eyes, two huge thumbs up from me. Prospective players now have a much needed resource to tap into the eve experience.
Keep up the good work CCP! |

OMG When change of the central eve website was announced, i joked with friends "I hope whey will not make it same as all other MMO websites" And now, i see you did it exactly how i feared. Eve website was simple, informative, convenient. Easy and fast navigation. Now, it all gone. I see a typical scheme of asian MMO trash. Prevoiusly, i was always hapy to visit eve site. Actually, it was the first thing i usually did when start playing. I open it and immedietly see news about mass testes, about new features and gameplay changes. I see button for account management, Button for evelopedia, all i need! It was all on that page. Now it all gone. Because now, i opening page and see pretty picture.... i see movie.... i see big and meningless buttons. Because this new site made as an advert for new potential players, not for people who playing EVE for years. CCP, are you really want to add 16 years old wow and lineage players to your base so greatly? So strongly that you ready to spit in the face of the subscribers you alredy have? I'm really angry and im said enough. Hope you'll change website it to it previous form. Or at least make it as alternative. |

It was none of those things you say it was. You were used to it and knew where everything is, that's all. The old website looked like a child of early 2000's, with way too much content crammed into one page, and with almost every link to everything useful hidden behind an expandable category button on the left hand side (yes, some of them were auto-expanded by default, but that's beside the point).
There's such a thing as "contemporary", "fashionable", and "trendy" when it comes to things like clothes, cars, logos, interior design and, yes, websites. Few would call a boxy Honda from the 80's "nice looking" although it might have been decent in its time. Currently it's not even retro, it's just "lol 80's car". Keeping up with fashion and trends is good for business.
The EVE new website has some usability issues that should be addressed, but overall it's a much-needed improvement. The game isn't only for those who've been playing it since beta, it's also for people who've never seen it before. Should their first experience with a part of it be an experience navigating an outdated, cluttered website? If you think the answer is "yes" then HAHAHA no. |

Damn .... i was going to start a thread on how much i liked the web site but you beat me to it.
anyways it is a good site . it does its job well at driving new users towards a trial and the content for us older players is still accessible . whether one finds it easier or not really depends on how you deal with change.
overall it is slick could stand a bit more polish in some areas but they are just personal niggles. like "spaceship viewer" . i think it could be called something a bit more clever like "technical" or ships of new eden or something. .
The ship spinner widget under sandbox careers could be a bit larger and could stand a lil more oomph in the lighting as some of the ship models are hard to see. It should also link to the "space ship viewer"
overall its dynamic its informative and it has a hook to it . i would not be surprised if there was a increase in new subs due to this layout. |

I liked how the old site felt like an extension of the UI of the game (for what that's worth). The new style doesn't have the same feel but it does seem much more new people friendly. I just hope they have an easy way to see when they have a new fiction posted. Frequent squinting even in low light? You may be showing early signs of Brock Eye Syndrome. Talk to your doctor today. |

If that is intended for new players they going for teen player base which by default won't play EVE. There's just no way I would start playing the game if I would be looking for one and seeing such site. And it's by far less convenient for current players in terms of getting to the info. What a fail. |

I support this thread or service.
...but seriously. The new website is sick. It's really awesome. I think the CCP web design team hit it out of the park.
It's far superior to the old site... and I disagree with some of the comments dissing the site about how easily it integrates into the community. Whereas we used to start our navigation (at least I did) on the eve home page, now we have the community page to start. All the sales and marketing crap is on the home page (reasonably so) so now the community page can be focused 100% on players and the sales smack can for bringing in new meat for the grinder can be located elsewhere. I don't know why people are having trouble seeing the benefits of this.
blah blah blah if I find problems I'll be sure to go bittervet style and bit*h about it in GD, but I think the criticisms of the site are way off reality here.

" Sure. Yes. For a new players only. If you want to make an Eve page for "New players only", no problem - make it. Preferably without ruining website for old players. It is as simple as that. Now, once nearly perfect navigation, worked well to send me anywhere i need in one click is shattered to pieces and scattered through lots of menus and even other pages. Main page is a total failure. Eve community section is a badly reanimated corpse of functionality which is gone. |

Oh dear god could you be more dramatic?
The new homepage has shattered your dreams to pieces! Get over it.
Now I have to click my mouse twice instead of once! Get over it.
It's gonna bring tons of noobs in! That's what we want.
The purpose of the new site is to bring new players in and give them a taste of the game. It's going to do exactly that, brilliantly. Like it or not, there wasn't really a way to taste the eve universe before subscribing, prior to this new website. Unless you had a friend who plays the game, you don't get to see what eve is about until you download the trial.
This new website is going to do it's job; rake in many new players. We all want that. We all need a larger player base. We want to break 70k active players on a weekend.
I'm sorry the new website has "shattered" your world to "pieces" and "scattered" them in places you don't have the patience to look for. You've effectively become the elderly hipster of Eve. "MEEH! BACK IN MY DAY, THE FORUMS WERE BLACK AND BORING, MEHH!"
Seriously, your post is pathetic. Get out of the thread, this is a great addition to a great game and will help us all to see an expanded playerbase. |

The ship browser on the new website is very impressive. So impressive in fact it leaves me asking, when will the full client be implemented in HTML5 on the website?

They need to downplay the aspects of the site that current players use just a little more. It currently takes up the entire page and makes it impossible for new users to figure out what the game is about. I mean, there's not even a single reference to spaceships or MMOs. |

When I first went to the site I thought omg where has everything gone
But as CCP have said and as people have stated, the new front-end site is for new players to get a better understanding of the game.
As soon as I went to the community page everything that I want is there and for me easier to access no more remembering which heading I need to expand etc.
So I think its a job well done. |

I don't like it, apart fromt he star map it looks like a very basic CMS with a bog standard theme, the theme doesn't even match eve gate, evelopedia or the eve forums and the account managament pages are even less like any of the other pages. Please be consistent and use the same theme for the whole site, it makes you look very amateur otherwise. |

Usability of the website greatly reduced, and i have to be hapy about because it is more "fancy" and "modern"? Phh.
Fanciest thing for all websites is naviation. It was like that and will be. Now it gone, and this is not something unimportant, this is not a little detail i can't ignore. Wanna do website to attract noobs? np, do it without destruction of what we already had. That's it. |
