I hear a lot of people saying how much they love their Avdanced Weapon Upgrades skill. I know it helps you put a larger caliber of guns on your ship, but it seems to me that minmatar value their tracking a lot and go for the 180mm or 220mm as opposed to the 425mm for example. My question is: How relevant is this skill as minmatar compared to others?
I only use medium and small sized turrets, so your opinion on them would be of particular interest.
Thanks

Its a must, it helps you fit things other than bigger guns, IE better Tech II items that use more PG ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼ ▼

Edited by: Dromidas Shadowmoon on 31/12/2007 04:32:52 AWU 4 very necessary, for pretty much every ship I've fitted for pvp :P I only fly minmatar small/medium ships myself.
Edit: Actually, for minmatar, you'll need pretty much every skill there is that actually relates to our ships.. and some that don't. :) _______________________________________________ Minmatar will always go faster than you, get over it. |

Minnie only need AWU to fit artillery(for which you will want the biggest caliber), ACs are extremely easy to downgrade with minimal penalty, and indeed, if you take tracking into account 220s are for example, better than 425s.
But you must have awu if you want to use arty.

I think all skills that help with fitting are essential to max out ASAP.
However if you can fit out ships how you like them without using Reactors, Diags or Co-pros then learn something shinier!

AWU 5 is one of those skills you put on the back burner, but WU 5 (AWU 3-4 is easy to get once you do) is a MUST. When you start using tech 2 hardeners, mwds, shield boosters and such, cpu starts getting short in supply. ------------------------------- The opinions reflected in this post DO reflect the opinions of my corp...of one guy and a bunch of alts. |

AWU 4 is very usefull. When Fitting AKs the SKill wonŠt change mutch but on a T2 Fleet Setup it is more or less essencial. On Amarr or Galente Ships the Skill matters more because of heavy Powergrid use of the Weapons.
I only got a couple on setups that realy require AWU 5. Also ther are Faction/Cosmus Mods out there that use less Powergrid(Meditation MAR for example). So you donŠt have to loose performance in a special setup if you are willing to pay some ISK more on its Mods. Most time you will run short on CPU at the same time as in Powergrid on a powerfull Setup so you will need Faction/Cosmos Mods for CPU to so this donŠt make a significant diffrence.
So AWU 5 mostly save you ISK on Fittings some times and more importend it is a required Skill for the Sige Module on a Dread. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank! |

AWU 5, Engineering 5, Electronics 5 will open up entire new door ways for fitting ships.
for example, the difference between someone fitting an interceptor or interdictor with these is extraordinary.
We're talking 150+ shield on a sabre, 25-50dps on a ceptor.
On tier 2-3 battleships its not too much of a problem. Tier 1 it is a big difference.
If you can already fly your ship, train generics like AWU5, cap skills, ect --- History is written on the sands of Arrakis. A chapter has ended, swept away by the whirlwind. One door has closed, but another has opened. And on the other side... our future... |

Edited by: Lord Gendor on 31/12/2007 20:30:54 AWU is more important for large guns compared to medium guns. Most T2 sniping setups for example don't fit without AVU IV or 2 Rcu's, and if you have to fit 2 rcu's you should use a different setup/train fitting skills. If you want to fit T2 arty you pretty much will need AWU if you want a proper setup.
AWU V lets you use a few greats setups which are impossible otherwise.

Edited by: Miss Miata on 01/01/2008 06:13:51 i gotta admit with my minmitar char i was a year in and still hadnt (in fact still havent) trained awu, hell weapon upgrades is only trained at 4 so i can use t2 damage mods.
ill agree with a earlier poster this is because i dont use arti`s much at all, but i know from tryin to fit artie`s this skill would be worth its weight in gold.
i have fitted all my frigs, assaults, cruisers, bc exactly how i prefer without this skill being trained, but for other races im training it when 2-3 months in.
my advice is if u wanna use artie`s get training it, if ur a ac freak like me wait till you cant fit what u want and training it is the only way. lets be honest im sure ur not short of skills you want to train :O)
oh and no its not cuz i use fitting mods, i have never used a fitting mod , i dont belive in them.....well, i guess `you` cud call power diags fitting mods, but im not :p (i fit em cuz i like em, the pg is just a bonus :p )
