Hi there!
I'm sort of a newb when it comes to these things, so could someone enlighten me as to how I can:
1. Install Wine with separate folders (for running 1 game in 1 wine folder/install) 2. Install EVE into two separate Wine folders 3. Run two clients simultaneously with separate settings and cache (should be possible if I manage to achieve the above
I haven't gotten past 1 yet, so...halp?

you normally just need to install one copy of wine (there is away to have multiple versions of wine on hd but that is a bit more complicated)
for the other thing you might want is: WINEPREFIX="/home/user/.windows/EVE1" wine setup.exe WINEPREFIX="/home/user/.windows/EVE2" wine eve.exe WINEPREFIX="/home/user/.windows/bla" wine eve.exe
the default wineprefix is "~/.wine"
don't forget to switch to the dir holding the eve.exe first (cd or working folder if you use a shortcut)
----------- - server side event filtering for turret and effects - module grouping for less server calls - fix grid loading isses - document the SM3 detection |

How do I use the Wineprefix stuff? Do I need to install two EVEs, or simply just run them with a prefix? (like I said, I'm a noob >.>)

From my side worked: export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_alt wineprefixcreate
This creates a second wine infrastructure Copy to ~/.wine_alt/drive_c/windows/fonts the Arial fonts from windows Create with wine regedit the necessary keys Link the binary dir from the normal .wine dir to the new ln -s ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP ~/.wine_alt/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP Create an start alias in .bashrc alias goevealt='export WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_alt; cd ~/.wine/drive_c/"Program Files"/CCP/EVE; wine.exe'
With this the binary part is still in ~/.wine. Only the local settings and the cache is in ~/wine_alt

Thanks a bunch for the help! Now I only need to know how to start the two separate EVE clients. I run one on my widescreen monitor, and one on my other, normal TFT screen. Will there be two different starters for EVE, or how will this work out?

I'm using multiple clients with only an istall folder. Set your eve to window mode. Restart the application(you'll have a correct resolution then). And then press the Eve-online icon again.More clients will open(you set them all to windowed mode. Its better because wih one prefix I think you will only need to set the graphics card memory to its value(and not divide throughout all the install folders!).It seems that with cedega wrapped client you canno do this.

That works, of course, but I run on two different screens (one 22 inch widescreen and one 17 inch 4:3) and have separate X windows for both (as to avoid the screwed up resolution settings in EVE). I'd like to run one fullscreen on one X screen, and the other on the other.

I can also run dual clients on wine from the same install, and the same launch icon. They run on separate desktops too, and even in premium. No idea how it works though

After reinstalling my entire system (cleaning up fiddles and changing filesystem), I installed Wine, Nvidia drivers and setup my two screens as before. I also did everything in this thread, and now I can launch two separate, full screen EVE clients, one on each screen and run both simultaneously. Marvellous! ^^ I did it before, but then I ran one Cedega (the wrapped "Linux" client) and one Wine. Now both are Wine and stable.
