Edited by: Rhyarkh on 05/01/2008 22:42:15 Hello folks!
I am working now on this issue for more than 1 month! I already contacted the in-Game support, but they only send me an auto-reply message twice...and they asked to send a bug report...this was...let's say "very, very helpful" ;-). Now I tried to contact the German support...maybe try to help me. But my real hope is in this thread.
Now I hope that here are some guys who might help me, because I don't want to continue playing when my GTC runs out (in a bit more than 1 month) and this issue isn't solved. It rapes the fun of playing.
At first, I'll write my computer components (bought a new one - about 4 months ago):
Intel E6750, Dual Core 2x 2,66 GHz (I guess it was the E6750, but not sure, though) Asus P5N32-E SLI (Mainboard) 2 GB RAM Gainward NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS, 640 MB RAM
in-game settings:
Shadows set to "normal". Cachse size set to "extreme".
nHancer settings:
AA: 8x,Gamma,TranspSS (==> usually I have 16x Coverage Sample, can't remember why I have now 8x *g*) AACompat: 200 (==> Splinter Cell 4) AF: 16x VSync: Aus SLI: AFR [0x02400001] (predefined) MipMap:Tri CPU:MultiCore
Ok, now about my troubles:
1st: Anti-Aliasing doesn't work (this is now somehow solved, but lead to another issue) 2nd: FPS are very low (about 15 FPS and less in a station and about 30 and less outside a station...sometimes it's higher than 30 FPS, but in most cases it's 30 or less - while fighting mainly around 10 FPS) 3rd: When my ship is burning (means has hull damage) the FPS falls below 10 FPS. I was even fighting with 3 and 5 FPS...even 1 FPS! o.O wohooo this was quite a lot of "fun". 4th: It seems that HDR doesn't work
But what have I already done?
==> 1st issue:
Well, for quite a long time, Anti-Aliasing didn't work at all! I had lot of troubles with that. I've updated the nHancer version and my video card driver. This didn't help, too. It was like a miracle but all of a sudden Anti-Aliasing worked! I tried to follow a lot of guides to activated Anti-Aliasing with the GT and GTS cards, but nothing helped. It just worked suddenly. This surprised me a lot and I still don't know why it works now, because I haven't made anything diffrently than before.
==> 2nd issue:
But when my 1st problem was solved, a 2nd one appeared instantly: My FPS dropped to a very low level. I can't believe that my computer is so weak that I can get only less than 30 FPS most of the time.
I tried to change the Anti-Aliasing mode...but it seems that every setting I change in the nHancer does not influence my FPS. It seems that nHancer doesn't give a f*ck about changing the settings. I have the same FPS, even when I use 32xS Supersampling Anti-Aliasing or 2x Multisampling Anti-Aliasing.
Also, deactivating Premium Content Graphics increases the FPS just about 10.
I cannot increase the FPS and I need at least 10-20 FPS more to have fun at playing. Can anyone help me here?
==> 3rd issue:
Nothing...I don't know anything. Can anybody help me here? It s*cks when my FPS drops because of damage, because it takes lot more time to hit any button in-game.
==> 4th issue:
Well, when using "Oblivion (HDR + AA)" and I start EVE, I have no AA and no HDR. But when I activate HDR, I have AA. But I never saw any diffrence with HDR, so I guess it doesn't work. It even does not work if I deactivate AA and activate only HDR.
Can anybody help me with this issue? I'm flying Minmatar ships, but I can't believe that there is no diffrence viewable with HDR activated and deactived.
Okay, there I am...
Can anybody help me?
Right now I have troubles to fly missions so I cannot enjoy the game very much.
Best regards

Edited by: Anastasiya Makalov on 06/01/2008 00:21:51 turn off hdr and aa, disable all of your driver level graphic goodies. set them all to application controlled. when i crank all of that up and run a mission, it's about 30 fps. when i turn it off, i'm at 60 fps. I run a dual core 4400 amd, and the 8800GTX. may not be what you wanted to hear, but it's the only solution i've been able to come across.

Hm...well in a mission I usually have 10 FPS, not 30.
But I don't want to play EVE without AA, it just looks bad without.
I haven't set a lot graphic settings very high...and even when it wouldn't influence the FPS :/

Hm...not really, I think.
My FPS doesn't work sometimes correctly and sometimes it's down. It's always the case that my FPS is low.
I mainly have below 30 FPS, while fighting mainly around 10 FPS. Only when nothing is in the background (just stars and deep space), I have 40-50 FPS. When deactivating the Premium Graphic Content I have +10 more.
But I think my CPU isn't running on 50% (when pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL and looking at the Windows Task Managar).
I already used nTune to watch the heat of my CPU, video card and my computer. Nothing special I think. But for correct number I would need to have a look on it, again :D I just can remember that the CPU was 20-30¦ C and the GPU/video card around 60¦C.

Bump :-)
Because I haven't solved this problem, yet :(

Another bump.
I've found some threads were people told that their FPS is falling down for some seconds, then it's normal. This is not the case. My FPS are constant, but low.

Hmm, well for starters i'm suprised your fps is so low with a system as good as yours. It must be those shadows that cause all the problems - try ticking 'Use LOD' (I think thats what its called). Perhaps the engine is trying to draw shadows on models that are very far away, which is useless really.
My problem is rather similar - I have a 6600GT with 1GB RAM and an AMD Athlon 64 3400+. Average by today's standards really. It runs Eve really well actually. I have the problem of the AA not staying on, and EVE looks so jagged without AA. I can't for the life of me wonder why the developers don't include an AA option in the graphics settings!? Are they still living in the 90s or what?
If I force AA with nHancer, it remains on until a new model has to be drawn, then it drops off. My solution is to Alt-Tab to desktop, then Alt-Tab back into Eve and as if by magic my AA is back on! Oh, until I enter a station, or jump, or warp, or pretty much move anywhere lol.
I have posted this in another thread because there are many people having exactly the same problem. CCP wake up and give us AA on the new content!

Hm support told me that I might also force something with the original driver settings that decreases the FPS so much. I'll have an eye on this now...maybe it is true...maybe not.
But...as you said: A system like my one should result better fps :(
And...I think I cannot help you with your issue :( Have read about that problem...maybe other compability modes solve this issue? Dunno.
I am really confused why CCP haven't added AA to the game. Even SWG has got it after some time^^

Edited by: Taearaa on 18/01/2008 00:31:23 Hm...okay I did it and the result is:
AA doesn't seem to work properly anymore...a bit maybe...but it's still really bad.
FPS is now a bit less 30 in stations, around 40 FPS outside a station. But: AA doesn't work properly.
Hm...I am helpless.
Well, my account expires on 02/24/2008 and I think I won't renew my subscription. Let's see how it comes.

Edited by: Bambi on 18/01/2008 14:29:30 Try turning your cache down to High, I read a post somewhere recomending extreme for PC's with 4Gb of ram or more. |

Hm...this won't help. I already turned the cache of, but it didn't influence the FPS :/

Well no cache aint gonna help at all, but if you have a cache and its using too much of your memory you are gonna get a performance hit

I got the same issue, except well i had HDR work for me the whole time. The issue only starts occuring when i run 8800GTS 640MB in SLI though, otherwise i get excellent FPS on maxed settings.
My system is: Core Duo 3.0GHz 8800 GTS 640MB 4GB RAM
This is clearly a bug in either the drivers or the way the client is running. But i would have to assume its the latter because all other games i notice a FPS increase, in EVE, the opposite. It happens as soon as i start EVE in SLI, whenever i disable SLI, it stops.

Hm...how do I start EVE in SLI mode or how deactivate it?
I have got just 1 graphic card, but my mainboard has 2 slots for 2 graphic cards.
I've got in the original driver settings something with dual-view monitoring or something like this. Don't know what this is...haven't sound the setting in the nHancer, yet.

try messing with your "present Interval" in graphic settings. when i reinstalled the prem client I got realy nasty fps lag even with my decent hardware. but it was gone once i set my present interval to "Interval immediate" "RAWR" is my keyword, and also my second language |
