Hi,
I was trying to work out building cost for a jump freighter. I know the estimates but wanted precise checks via jita market prices.
I tried to look up prices for various capital t2 components, but to my surprise none were found of the various needed types, and more so, no market history revealing sales etc.
My question is, am I missing something ? There are bpo's so they should be built. Are they in demand that much or that hard to produce that they are sold straight to customers, not via the market ?
Who is selling the t2 components for the Ark and where do the existing ships come from ?
Thanks for any help.

1st off, jump freighters are still relatively new, as are the t2 parts and parts bpo's needed to produce them, so alot of those bpo's are still being researched before they're put into production, which is why you haven't seen any on the market or a market history for alot of those parts for that matter. Just have some patients and give it some time and you'll eventually some spring up on the market. Demand for the JF's are kind of low atm, or at least for the prices they're currently going for. If you're REALLY in need of parts because you want to produce a jump freighter right away, check the sell orders forum, iirc there where a few capital t2 component makers selling their goods there.

there was at least one on the market the other day, If I remember correctly it was some crazy high price that I couldn't afford so didn't pay much attnetion to it.

Contact me ingame if you are interested in a BYOM deal on these. Im sure we can build for you for a fair fee. The BPOs are partially researched (ME10-30 atm), can get exact stats and build quotes for the 7 used for the Ark if you want.

Most people who are building jump freighters are building their own components so the market for selling them seperately is small. The materials going into them are falling in cost at the moment, so having a built item on the market without knowing you will have a buyer is risky at the moment.

This, I built my own comps and the JF, sold it for 8.5bil too. Some have gone for as much as 10bil, but I think the price will come back down a little. Maarud.

Especially now that people realize the rorqual can be used as a jumpfreighter with 100k m3 available. ----

I didn't think rorqs could go high-sec, eh? ----------------------------------------------------------------

thats where the the alt in the normal freighter is waiting - in low sec.

Being able to jump highsec right to 0.0 gives the jump freighter an edge, but the actual highsec leg you are far better off using a normal freighter, as a jump freighter is not alot stronger but makes a nice target for someone that really doesn't like you.
Rorqual is a decent alternative, but the skillset required for it is alot different to that your standard freighter pilot has, the skills required are quite abit more expensive also, and it will require twice as many jumps to be performed. It at least can defend itself to some degree though, which is a huge+

Just trying to understand here...are you guys saying a Rorqual is preferred to a Carrier to do this?
I would have thought a carrier would be better (even if you count in the coming nerf).
If you consider cargo / distance jumped / ability to defend itself / Cost / skillset it all comes out better than the Rorqual doesn't it?

The carrier nerf already came. Meanwhile the Rorq got its cargo capacity doubled so it became better than the carriers in the first place. The Rorq can't defend itself as well as a carrier or jump quite as far, but to the former either way you're going to need allies to come bail you out and to the latter you just have to suck it up. Carriers just hold too little to be viable large-load haulers. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Automated Influence Map |

If you're jumping charges the carrier isn't so bad. But for example a thanatos now has a cargohold with expanded cargohold II's 16,000m3, and a corp hangar 10,000m3. You can no longer store ANYTHING other than charges inside ships that are in the ship maint bay. So haulers loaded with stuff is now out of the question (which used to add another 48,000m3 to the carrier.
The Rorqual I believe now has a 40,000m3 BASE cargo, before you add rigs/expanders, so it's already ahead, and it can get over 120,000m3 (not sure exactly how much) when rigged/expanded. A dread isn't so bad. Carriers still go the furtherest, but the haulage space is tiny.
If you're moving any substantially sized equipment you're pretty much down to 3 options, expanded dread (revelation/moros are ok-ish), rorqual or jump freighter. Carriers and Dreads you really don't want to rig for cargo hauling unless that's all you do with them I guess. Rorqual having cargo rigs isn't a big deal, it's what it's designed for. The rorqual or a carrier are the only 2 that can really defend themselves in any way shape or form though, and the jump freighter is the biggest sitting duck out there, you pretty much need a carrier escort if it's going to be anything but an empty local at the other end.
