Edited by: Jonny JoJo on 10/01/2008 01:18:01 Ok Heavy interdictor needs MWD to keep targets in range, otherwise anything it bubbles or scrams will just MWD away.
It needs a reasonable tank and it needs to be able to take advantage of its damage bonus.
However it SEVERLY lacks grid. Other races have OMG WTF Tank and nano etc but as usualy, Amarr totally got bent over.
So can anyone name a "SENSIBE" Mwd setup for this ship? Is there even such a thing? The only way people can fit this ship is by using civillian guns on it.

Not sure exactly what you were hoping for, it has better fitting than both Amarr HACs. I don't fly Amarr and Quickfit doesn't have Heavy Dictors yet so I can't suggest specific fittings... all I can say is try using less demanding guns, or perhaps one less?

You mean a rack of Civillian guns? The ship struggels to fit Lasers. Its WORSE at fitting lasers than battleships, unless you fly a paper setup.
Projectiles fit perfectly though, which is crazy as you are throwing away ship bonus. Any why fly a slow ass Amarr hic in paper mode, when other dictors have OMG tank/Damage?

Lol something you should invest in is fitting skills then mate But Seriously check this out: x4 Heavy pulse II's x1 Warp Disruption field gen x1 Y-T8mwd x1 med cap booster II w/ 800's x1 Langour web x2 Medium armor rep II's x1 DCU II x1 Thermic Hard II x2 EANM II
x2 Auxiliary nano pump I's (or other rigs w/e you want really)
You need AWU 5 to fit all that on there otherwise i would suggest swapping a rep for a heat sink or swapping out guns. Thats an all out tank fit though like if you were told to tackle a nyx or were fighting under sentries. Im sure you could go with single rep gank setups and be fun just gotta play with it.
Please dear god mods dont nerf this sig too its the 6th freakin one ive put up |

Edited by: Cpt Branko on 10/01/2008 01:52:30 Edited by: Cpt Branko on 10/01/2008 01:49:41 With focused medium pulses it's TRIVIAL to fit PG-wise even with a MWD-ing cap injected dual rep setup. Train engineering V or something. Now stop trolling.
Yes, highest tier guns require AWU or fitting mods.
Maybe you're trying to fit beams or something? Pulses are the guns which enable you to fit a tank, you know? Same as the other races. Try to fit arties on it, it doesn't work either. Pulses are your friend, and you cannot possibly be whining about the inability to fit a T2 ship with highest tier guns and not have AWU trained, right?

Edited by: Antithysis on 10/01/2008 01:52:31 Edited by: Antithysis on 10/01/2008 01:50:11 I just fitted this out in EFT:
Highs: Medium Armor Repairer II Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Capacitor Power Relay II
Meds: 10MN MicroWarpdrive II Medium Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800 Sensor Booster II
Lows: Focused Medium Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M Focused Medium Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M Focused Medium Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M Focused Medium Beam Laser II, Multifrequency M [empty high slot] Warp Disruption Field Generator I
Rigs: Auxiliary Nano Pump I Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Tanks 709 Damage Per Second, 1 Rep can tank the sentries.
The capacitor lasts for quite a long time, at least as long as you have boosters, and if yer using 1 rep running (no guns or disruptor active) it can permatank the sentries without using a cap booster.
So please, tell me how this is hard to fit or a weak tank.

EDIT: Spelling
EDIT 2: And this doesn't even need AWU V. I doubt it would have trouble fitting with AWU 2.

And how many minutes is that going to last?29 seconds, or 1 minute with max skills with just 1 rep on, and lacks cargo space for sustaining it with cap booster charges.
And you never fitted a low and a high. Thats a cloak and a plate that it should be able to fit but cannot.
This sucks. Other HIC's are OMG and Amarr get the crap off the back of the barral yet again.

Love the 2k Armour buffer so it dies to doomsday, and the 32 seconds of life this ship has once it runs out of booster. With a infinite supply of boosters, it caps out after 1-2mins.

A Phobos can't fit neutrons + 10MN MWD II + dual MARs and NOTHING ELSE, with AWU V. You are complaining about not being able to fit highest tier guns + 10MN MWD II + dual MARs + cap injector + plate? Wtf? ALSO, your cap lasts longer then a Phobos when you run out of cap boosters (28s). So don't cry about cap stability of dual MAR setups, lol.

Actually only HIC which can fit guns, dual MAR tank, MWD, all the essentialls, and a 800mm RT plate. Strange Amarr have such a overpowered HIC...

Youve been near a DDD when it goes off eh? Cause resists do make a difference in dmg you take and that devoter with single rep is sustainible and with 2 its 5mins striahgt with max skills its 25. BUT if you fit a cpr in the low it gets increased even more so. Its not meant for dps its meant to stop caps from warping. So ina serious fight you wouldnt even waste the cap to shoot (as it wouldnt really even be helping) and focus on keeping the tank+point running. DDD are good but when you have 85% resists all around they wont come anywhere near to instakilling you

Can it? you call a 2k armour buffer a "tank"? You are aware that any titan it scrambles can instadoonsday it?
You are aware that other races have SUPERIOR tank that can tank MULTIPLE doomsdays?

Are you aware that the Phobos does not, in fact, FIT BLOODY HIGHEST-TIER GUNS, A MWD AND DUAL MAR SETUP, MUCH LESS ANYTHING ELSE AND SPECIFICALLY NOT A PLATE AND INJECTOR OF ANY SORT WITH AWU V? It's clearly overpowered, and you're trolling.
quote=Jonny JoJo]trolling
(a) Devoter with 800mm RT plate has 5235 armour HP. (b) Devoter with 800mm RT plate has 43306 effective HP assuming equal damage distribution. (c) If you were going against a titan, you'd either tank specifically for his damage or die to his doomsday. For example, vs explosive it's quite trivial to get a 96.7% exp resist, making you able to tank TWO explosive doomsdays with a 800mm RT plate, exp rig, two passive exp resists and a DC II. LOL.

Are you ********? No, seriously?
I said in my post that 1 rep would perma-run and can tank the gate sentries fine. With everything running (besides the MWD), it lasts as long as you have boosters. If it had an infinite supply of boosters, it would perma-run, so you can take your comment and shove it.
Secondly, this is not a setup to tank a doomsday. If you want that, take a repairer off and put on an 800mm Plate (If you are expecting multiple doomsdays, then you'll have to use a 1600 plate and drop either both reps or some of the guns. Since it isn't supposed to be a damage ship, I'd just drop the guns in favor of allowing it to do it's ******* job, which is tank a doomsday and keep super capitals pinned.
Also, your comment about the 2000 armor buffer is ******** as well. You don't just look at the armor physical HP. You look at the effective HP vs. the doomsday type you are planning to tank. If you have 75k effective HP (which can be done with 1 800mm plate and a specific hardener), then you are fine. Effective HP takes into consideration the level of resistance your ship has to a specific damage type, so it gives you the actual damage you would be able to sustain from that damage type before your actual armor HP = your effective armor HP. You can have 2600 armor, and have an effective 65k HP vs. Explosive with NO PLATE. Yes, that's no plate, and no specific hardener. A single explosive hardener would enable you to tank a doomsday without a plate.
So please, before you reply again, use your brain. At least a little bit.

Devoter fits perfectly fine. What do you want to do with it?
It should have 4 meds and 6 lows like the phobos which would make it a better lowsec tackler. But well i am not surprised. However this ship is ok for its job. As for the guns i'd fit acs anyway but it depends what and also where are you going to do it.

Funny that someone who never ever appears on killboards participates in so much fleet combat.
Anyway, you fail. It's very easy to set it up to have about 158K of effective armour (just armour!) HP over explosive with still a dual rep tank, enabling you to lol at two minmatar titan pilots all day long.
Without a MWD, guns or anything else? Sounds great. Even the TITAN will outrun it speed wise due to plates. LOL

You're just a little troll.
With FMP IIs, interdictor module, 800mm RT plate, two passive explosive resists, DC II, 10MN MWD II, med electrochemichal cap injector, dual MARs and a single explosive rig you get 158K effective armour HP against explosive if you set up for it out of your 5.2K actual armour.
Since last I heard titans don't go 1.35km/s, I don't think it's going to exactly outrun you
It's even not a unrealistic setup if you're expecting a minmatar titan on the battlefield.

1) My EFT setup DOES take reload time into calculation. Argument 1 thrown out the window.
2) Yes, it drops some of it's tank for a 1 shot buffer. News flash: EVERY SINGLE HEAVY INTERDICTOR HAS TO DO THIS.
3) Did you not read my post? I specifically took into account the effective HP buffer vs. a doomsday. Here, I'll quote it for you since you seem to be slow:
Originally by: Antithysis You don't just look at the armor physical HP. You look at the effective HP vs. the doomsday type you are planning to tank. Originally by: Orar Ironfist 1.His eft is right it takes into account load times 2.You can tank them too you just have zero skillz to do so cleary its you and not the ship 3.You fail harder becuase it has effective hp over that of ddomsday max dmg to an unresisted ship so its doing infact less to you 4. I can't really think of a reason not to, unless you are a roleplayer.

And my point was other races can tank MULTIPLE doomsdays in hics. 3. You FAIL as you never bothered to canculate effective hitpoints vs doomsday,
1) My EFT setup DOES take reload time into calculation.
But I guess you can't read properly, or you would have noticed that. My deepest sympathies to your family.
Shut up now your purposely trying to troll and everyone knows your wrong but yourself

Obviously you have no indication of reading. I am talking about effective hitpoints. The problem is, people like you still think titans do 45k damage like they did a year and a half ago. They do 70k+ damage, and last person who took a blast from shrike can confirm that he actually does do real world 70k+ "effective" damage.
Please show us your MWD, Guns, 152k effective HP, dual MAR, Plate setup. Unless its civiallian guns, and 1600 Plates that slow the ship more than titan speed, then please explain how this setup can lock a titan for 10mins+? (which is the shortist time it has ever taken to kill a titan)

OK.

Rigs: explosive rig. Not really necessary. empty

Guess what asshat? I KNOW. I KNOW IT'S 70K DAMAGE.
All of my claims of tanking a doomsday are based on that doomsday doing a 70K+ hit. Every single one of them. Would you like a screenshot? Here you go: Linky
Imagine that. It's got HP left to spare after it takes a doomsday hit. All I did was swap beams for pulses and put on a 1600mm RT Plate. That will tank any 1 doomsday, and 2 Minmatar doomsdays.
Want the exact fit? Here:

In conclusion you dont like amarr you have a few options, 1. train another race. 2. train more amarr skill so they work better 3. figure out what you are doing wrong with amarr

Focused Pulse? You guys even know what focused pulse is? People who use focued pulse are the types of people who use 350's on sniper ships. I.E its the looser module
Have you guys ever flown Amarr by any chance? next you will be saying Apoc = best bs as it can fit quad reps.
Way to CHEAT big boy - But your setup is not doomday proof. I put th enumbers into EFT and lets see the results..
Dies easaly to Avatar Blast Dies Easaly to Leviathan Blast Dies easaly to Erebus blast. Survives Ragnarok blast due to mass explosive hardners.
So your setups are nothing but a fraud. Next you will be saying that a apoc with 3 x EM Hardners can armour tank Avatars. Sure it can, but it will die to every other DD so its not doomsday proof.

You guys using cheat setups to divert the issue from the correct action - that heavy pulse Devoter setups lack grid, and that unless you use focused pulse or frig/civillian weapons, you cannot get the tank of other hic's, such as Oynx or Bradsword. I'm going to regret this, but here goes.
1. For all I care, take all of the hardpoints off of all the heavy 'dictors. They're not supposed to do damage, they're supposed to be an incredibly tough tackling beast. I don't care if I can only fit middle tier guns on them. To me, whatever guns I can fit are just icing on the already over-tanked cake.
2. If you are going into a fight to tackle a Titan, chances are you know how many and what kind(s) of Titan(s) to expect. Tanking to match your target's Doomsday Device is common sense, so is keeping back a HIC to tackle a Titan that hasn't shown up yet.
3. If you plan on using a heavy 'dictor for something other than tackling a super-capital ship, your tank doesn't need to be nearly as strong so you can end up fitting the bigger guns you so desperately need. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Cheat Setup? Are you...
Good god you are stupid.
No, Heavy Pulse Lasers are NOT the standard for medium lasers. Those ONLY go on high DPS ships, which the Devoter is not and was never intended to be.
You have to make sacrifices. You either choose to tank a doomsday, tank gate sentries, or do higher DPS. You cannot and will not have it all. No ship is able to do it all.
If you want the heavy guns on this ship, you have to be willing to sacrifice some of it's tank. The onyx does craptacular DPS, and if you fit a MWD onto it, it loses alot of it's uber tanking ability. The broadsword can fit a really nice tank (I know, I can fly one), but the DPS on it is nothing to write home about. The Phobos is actually not that good. It suffers from cap problems due to the need to use hybrids on it (which eat up capacitor).
And cheat Doomsday tanking setups? You really are ********. This devoter that I fit out tanks at least 1 of every type of doomsday, and it can withstand 2 minmatar doomsdays at once. Here, I will show you:
vs. Amarr Doomsday vs. Caldari Doomsday vs. Gallente Doomsday vs. Minmatar Doomsday
This shows that with this setup, the Devoter can withstand 1 of each type of doomsday at least, and against a Ragnarok, it can withstand 2. This is not a cheat setup, there is nothing wrong with setting up a Heavy Dictor like this, because this allows the HIC to do it's job.
You cannot have DPS AND Mobility AND tank a doomsday. You just can't. You have to pick.

You do realize that this proves the ridicilous fitting requirements of lasers is a huge issue dont you?
Because if ccp would have given our hic enough grid to fit the same tier guns as everyone else it could be abused and used for plates etc. Fix lasers so they dont have to pg gimp our hic. Bad news though, zulu doesnt think there is anything wrong with lasers. Fail. ---------------------------------------------

I agree, Focused Pulses need to be boosted slightly. My point was simply that the Devoter was not intended to be ZOMGDPS, and I think a sacrifice in damage is acceptable with the kind of tank you get on this thing.

I disagree with that personally. Look at Gallente blasters; dropping down a level (neutron to ion) is a pretty big drop in DPS (my main is specced for Gallente), so it's on the same level. That, and neutrons also have fitting problems, so I don't really think that Amarr are alone. It's the same thing with Siege launchers and cruise launchers, Heavy Assault launchers and heavy launchers, etc etc.
Amarr aren't alone in this problem. Not to mention, we don't use ammunition, whereas every other race does, and our pulse lasers can quickly switch from close range to long range when needed (no reload time). I think it's pretty fair.

How is on the same level, i.e. with perfect skills and no damage mods:
heavy pulse with conflag: 42dps fmp: 36dps ~ 16% drop in dps
heavy neutron blaster void: 49dps heavy ion blaster void: 46dps ~ 6.5% drop in dps
Of course the savings on pg/cpu are bigger too if you drop from heavy pulses to focused ones. But the problem as i know it is that you either have too much fitting left if you fit "only" fmps or you have too little freedom if you fit heavy pulses. I think a med tier pulse laser would be nice to have. Maybe then minnies should get a third artie too.
But generally speaking fitting on lasers should be made a little bit easier. Fitting a rupture or thorax is so easy compared to fitting a decent maller its not funny anymore. Ok maller would suck even if it wasn't for the fitting probs. But thats another story.

When you devoter is scrambling a titan, and a enemy cruiser shoots/neuts you, what exactly are you going to do? Tank the damage and hope cap lasts or blow the enemy away?
Why do Interdictors fit weapons if they dont need to? Why does HIC class have damage bonus if they dont need it?
Devoter has SERIOUS problems due to one thing and one thing alone - Lasers. Devoter without weapons - fine. Devoter with weapons = Lol. If devoter could use missiles it would be fine. In fact, other HIC's without guns are OMG. Devoter is a dull fart.
Gentlemen, as you can clearly see, Devoter is Gimped with lasers. Its Damage bonus should be removed and replaced with something better and viable.

You guys are all picking out cheat setups so you can either
1. Fit Dual MAR/MWD/Booster/Plates at the expese of smaller powered weapons etc 2. Fit Cheat DD tank setups against a single DD type
You guys using cheat setups to divert the issue from the correct action - that heavy pulse Devoter setups lack grid, and that unless you use focused pulse or frig/civillian weapons, you cannot get the tank of other hic's, such as Oynx or Bradsword. People use heavy pulse which is the standard for amarr medium laser pilots. But you know that would mean I am correct, therefore you run this charade.
AHHAHAHAHAHHA HAX HAX HAX, DEV, BOB, XPLOIT
edit: try fitting a phobos with a similar setup you suggested... _________________________________________________ Breetime

You CANNOT fit a dual rep tank+MWD+highest tier guns (neutrons)+interdiction module on a phobos at all. It just won't fit.
It is possible to fit heavy pulses on the Amarr one, but then no plate, or no dual rep, or some sacrifice can be mode; it's possible, though, w/out fitting mods or rigs. On a Phobos, it is simply NOT possible.
The Amarr HIC is SO easier to fit.

(b) Give me a HIC that can fit the biggest guns of its race with a MWD, cap injector and a dual MAR setup (although, if you want to survive doomsdays, dual MARs are stupid, you want plates). Amarr can actually do this w/out fitting mods and a named injector/MWD, unlike, say, gallente. A poster above showed you the fit.
(c) stacking extenders versus a specific damage type is hardly cheating, unless you think you go after titans unprepared
(d) A poster above has shown you a 1600 plate setup which will take any doomsday. Then you cry that it's got lowest-tier guns. Well, *all* of the HICs need lowest-tier guns for 1600 RT plate setups, and some of them need grid rigs/implants which the Amarr one doesn't.
(e) You don't PvP anyway, why does it bother you? It's not like you'll run into a titan, ever.
(f) You are trolling.

I have never once mentioned the Phobos as a goalpost as the phobous has fitting problems as well.
Yet you compare a cripple to a cripple.
I am saying the Amarr man is handicap because he has 1 arm. You are saying Phobos would WISH to have the 2 Legs Amarr Man has as phobous has 1 leg.
What a bunch of morons you guys are. You should be comparing something that WORKS with something that DOES NOT. Compare a cripple to a health Oynx or Broadsword which dont have these problems.
You guys want the 1 armed amarr man to chop his leg off to be same as 1 legged phobos man problems?
Or shouldent CCP fix The HIC's prenerf?
I have YET to see you complain about Broadsword/Oynx. Therefore I call you a troll as you have done nothing which discusses the problems of Devoters as defined in the OP. The problem is Lasers, if you havent guessed.

Actually - it is you insisting on this. I have never said it should have that. In fact, dual reps make it hard to DD proof Devoter, which defeats the point I am making. Devoter needs to be DD proff, able to defend itself and have a rep. It cannot rely on injectors due to laggy supercap battles taking multiple hours +
All you are saying is like telling a 1 armed man to chop his leg off so he can put in it in arm socket if he wants 2 arms. Yet you never question the reason why the arm was missing.

Ok compare cripple with cripple? Lets compare the eris with the heretic...
You should stop whining. I dont mind the caldari and minmatar ships having a far better HP tank. Thats because of passive shieldtanking. Why should every ship have the same tank?
Fact:
- A tiny percent actually uses these to tackle titans - These ships need to resist damage over a longer time, not have insane ammounts of HP, its nice, but its not necessary. - If amarr and gallente gets something better, it will make them better than minmatar and caldari
Serieusly. A decent phobos fit uses the low damage and ultra shortranged electron blasters. Why whine about it? Its cool being up close to targets and kill them in the face. (even when doing crap damage) Enjoy the game more, dont be such a whiny ***** and compare everything and whine that you cannot play the game cause you tank a bit less dps, which you actually dont... _________________________________________________ Breetime

I don't fly amarr. I don't wanna EFT this other did and i'm looking at their numbers. I know that in EvE you just can't fit superior damage AND superior tank at the same time. If you are fitting specifically to tank a doomsday (I think the thread derailed and only focused on that in the end), well calculations has been done : You can. Not only can you but with dual rep, mwd and guns fitted (maybe lower damage guns but STILL !).
You can fit this ship to perma tank and perma scram any titan ... isn't that enough already ?

Hey, Jojo.
Open your eyes, tell me what do you see! HICs holding down titans, or zooming away. You want so much now You don't give much back You don't even realize were watching your back So take our advice, or go take your own. 'cause with begging for bufzorz your all on your own!
but srsly, it IS possible. You want a mwd? The guy (in an onyx) who held down Shrike in that massive lagfest had no mwd. Sure he was a passive tank and all, but there are certain differences between amarr and caldari. I don't think any other HIC would be toping damage meters, so I dont see a reason for the devoter to change that trend.
Perma running a MAR w/o a booster is easy, but also fitting to have over 75k+ effective HP is a we bit hard on anything thats active tanked.
In short, stop lamenting over crap damage output and get your ass on the line and go pin down someone's MOM (I mean seriously, they were made to hold down capships, not pew pew them untill they died)
(Song thing was made with the deranged mind of someone who cant sleep and like 3 diffrent song tunes in one )

The smartest thing Jojo did is creating this alt to post with. It saves his main a lot of embarrassment.
That's even if his main ever actually does anything pvp related besides sitting in front of EFT and dreaming of things he might theoretically do. But then he realizes he's good for nothing and whines on the forums.

Firstly, your setup FAILS in EFT to tank any doomsday. Looks like making numbers up = WIN.
Secondly, your setup FAILS in real world - It has only enough cap for 1 minute with MWD off, oncec oyu run out of boosters. And if you tackled titans, expect at least half an hour of battle.

This is a forum to discuss setups. So far, nobody can find a Devoter setup that is competitive to oynx/broadsword for thier intended role of supercap scrambling.
This is because of broken laser fitting. If Devoter was a missile boat, there would be none of these problems. You just go on about Phobos - make your own thread - this one if for Devoter as it has to fit civillian guns to be competitive with Oynx/broadsword

Ehem, people have given you the 1600 RT plate setup with MWD, FMPs and everything which can tank a doomsday and you conveniently choose to ignore it, because you just want to troll and whine about Amarr.
In fact, the Amarr HIC definitely does a better job then the Phobos which has to use electron blasters which do utter crap DPS and at <2km range. So it's definitely not a laser issue of any sort.
You are not discussing ships (since you are very likely far from flying a HIC, I cannot find a record of you PvP-ing anywhere), you are purposefully trying to troll ships and modules to prove that Amarr are horrible, where in the HIC department they definitely don't have problems.

I dont need to say FMP's suck. We all know they do. Its like using Heavy assaults on raven, however you guys would beleive that to be viable. If the argument is that it does not need damage, then CCP need to remove damage bonus from ship and give it a proper one for its intended role.
I sure love these theoretical anti-titan setups, because they sure last a minute once devoters small cargo bay of chargers run out. Nobody posting a setup that can lock down a devoter vs supercap for more than 5-10 minutes?

think not.
to tackle a titan you need multiple HIC's. and if you have a carrier on the scene even better. ---

Yes. Other hics can tank titan doomsday and keep it scrambled for more than 10 mins. Phobos might have problems though, but oynx/broadsword no probs.

ok since i can fly a devoter and onyx i have put both through EFT to see what i come up with.
Devoter effective hp: em 120k therm 77k kin 162k exp 130k devoter dps = 162 cap stable aslong as 200 charges are available
Onyx effective hp: 109k EM 160k therm 102k kin 76k exp dps= 161 cap stable
both setups have mwd fitted but turned off.
onyx compared to devoter

It is not.
Heavy assaults are cruiser-sized weapons, Raven is a BS-sized ship.
FMPs are cruiser-sized weapons, just lowest-tier ones.
Just like heavy electron blasters and D180mm ACs, their DPS is a bit meh; they get preety good tracking to compensate though and have preety decent range.
All ships in the game must make sacrifices (typically, a fitting mod plus having AWU trained) to fill a full rack of highest-tier short-range weapons together with all the essentials. As a rule, it is impossible to fit for a full tank and fit the highest tier guns.
I mean, really. Cross-train a bit and see how easy the high DPS weapon systems are fitting-wise across all the races and you'll learn a bit about the game.

JoJo can you find a fault with this setup
its a setup thats cap stable has a mwd can tank all 4 titan DD blasts does better damage than a onyx with HAM's and can scram a titan for over 10 mins well aslong as you need it to

"FC" Can you call Enirjar Fighter Drone prmary?
1. "That's an Einherji, a Minmatar fighter used by carriers", to use a popular format. Not a cruiser with neuts. Though I suppose some carrier pilots would be happy if they could morph their fighters into neut cruisers as effortlessly as you do it the other way around. 2. Actually, the correct form would be "Get the freaking support wing on keeping my ass clean, wtf are they doing shooting the titan?" 3. Your last four posts fail exceptionally hard.

please boost Onyx it does less dmg with HAM's than a devoter does with its smallest guns devoter is overpowered and needs to be nerfed to bring it into line with the other HIC's
even though i hate using EFT to prove things i think i have proven that a devoter can have a cap stable setup that can tank all 4 titans and do good dps and even though some people will still try to say that onyx and broadsword are alot better then numbers do not lie. then again all this talk about being cap neutral is not worth the time spent writing about as you are going to get nossed.

Except that the Devoter has almost 25% less effective hitpoints and has to shoot in smartbomb range. Thats 80% range reduction over the Oynx.
Thats the problem with you people trying to use EFT to prove things. I am stating real world facts and useing EFT to back it up. If so much as a small neut from a frig get placed on that devoter, or the devoter needs to cycle a mwd 5-10mins inst scrambling a titan - its cap collapses.

oh and totally forgot.
I'm with the understanding that by "tanking a titan for 10 minutes" means tanking a DDD for 10 minutes?
you can only shoot a DDD once each 1 hour.
Taking a DDD blast is a requirement, and on top, the shortest time a Titan has ever been killed is 10 mins, so it would need enough cap to lock titan down for at least 10 mins. More realistically, a couple of hours, as was seen in the shrike incident which took over 3 and a half hours, and invovled 3 doomsdays during that period. I am not sure where you got a 10minute DD, however I assume you made it up to act hard in front of your internet forum friends

Without MWD. Sometimes you need a 1 cycle of MWD if target is getting out of range due to a bump or if you get bumped or whatever. Locking a titan down for 2 hours you can expect to get out of range though no fault of your own.

that was because i was using thermic dmg as that is the devoters lowest resist to test to see if it would tank a dd i could have posted the same pic but with exp dmage then then i could have said the onyx has 50% less HP if you put them both on uniform dmg then the effective hp's are: 93090 effictive hp for devoter 101549 effective hp for onyx

Well, at least it isn't using electron blasters like the Phobos, with their omg-imba 2km range... HAMs pay for the somewhat bigger range with smaller DPS and other inherent flaws that missiles have.
There is absolutely no reason to get within smartbomb range of a titan in any HIC.

First off, you're the EFT warrior. I haven't menaged to find *any* killboards involving you, so my guess is that you PvP against NPCs a lot. Basically, proof or stfu if you're calling on your PvP experience.
Secondly, stop playing EFT with all modules on.
My minmatar ships cap out after a minute and a half typically in EFT and practically never in RL situations because there's no real need to run all modules all the time. It's not a Amarr issue, you see, you are playing EFT wrong.

You and a gang have hostile titan locked down.
This is what is going to happen. You will get smartbombed. Not in smartbomb range you will get ECM drones etc on you - you shoot these with your guns. You will get doomsdaysed. You tank this.
And a hostile carrier will warp to titan at 0 in a direction that works best with the bubbles around. Otherwise they hostile titan will get MWD fleet to bump him. A carrer bumb to a non-fully bubble surrounded titan can easaly bump him 50km away. That is where you need mwd burst, as not all the HIC's on titan will still have lock, and as you say so youself, having 1 HIC on titan is silly, so you need to get lock back asap.

Utterly wrong.
I believe that as i was the first hictor to tackle shrike, i can safel put my knowledge here.
If you tackle a titan, you'll have roughly 10 minutes of being able to go afk. The lag will most likely be that bad. In those 10 minutes, you wont even be locked.
After that, you might get one or two locks on you. Nothing worthwhile.
As for bumping? You wish. The server cant accept commands for 10 minutes at a time...what hope is there to successfully bump?
All you need to do is orbit the titan at 500m, with the wdfg on. Thats all.
MWD is nice to get into range, but not needed. If youre fighting a titan, you should have a warp in point anyway, so best to focus on ure tank.
Sorry jonny, but the Devoter is fine, as are all the Hictors. Each have their strengths and weaknesses. Onyx + Broadsword are great vs capitals and titans. Phobos and Devoter are great for small roaming gangs. Thats just how it works.

even though i hate using EFT to prove things i think i have proven that a devoter can have a cap stable setup that can tank all 4 titans and do good dps and even though some people will still try to say that onyx and broadsword are alot better then numbers do not lie. then again all this talk about being cap neutral is not worth the time spent writing about as you are going to get nossed.

So you wouldn't refit for a specific titan (since you're unlikely to see a titan every day soloing in your HIC which you cannot fly)?
At any rate, people have given you setups which you can use versus any Titan w/out refitting, and they're still not good enough because you want to fit highest tier guns in addition to everything else?
LOL.
Really. You do EFT PvP, which is fine and dandy, but is not a reason to troll ships&modules; so, essentially, since you can't fly a HIC nor participate in fleet fights, wait for a year, train some fitting skills, and then whine.

ROFL.
Amarr have issue's allright, i know just as well as anyone. however the over exageration that all amarr ships are broken is utter *******s, espeically this ship.
I dont doubt that some HICs are bettr than others, however i really dont think the amarr one is broken, in fact i am generally of the opinion that all the new HIC's are pretty well done.
If you had noticed that i am amarr you see that i am pretty unlikly to be a anti-amarr troll.
the amarr have issues everyone knows this, HOWEVER - there is more sensationalism about amarr than any other race that coupled with a tone of amarr pilots that think they have a god given right to tank and gank all at the same time really gets on my ****.
the problem is i might have over reacted with sensationalism of my own and 2 wrongs dont make a right.
that said i think this HIC isnt a bad ship at all when you put in the role its intended for.

Sorry JoJo, but you obviously dont know how to fly nor fit HICs. Every arguement you have made just screams inexperience, and at the end of the day...You cant base arguements on that.
The HICs are probably the most balanced ship class out there righ now, and if you dont like your current one, then fine. Train for a different one. But when looking at the big picture, all HICs are balanced, and this whine of yours is not only misplaced, but does nothing for you or your alliance.
Might i suggest you quit whilst youre well...You arent ahead, so that phrase doesnt really work

Nope - Thats you guys making stuff up. Never said I wanted a HIC to do hac DPS.
I want a HIC that can
1. Defend itself from random small crap such as drones etc 2. Tank a doomsday 3. Have enough cap to lock down a titan for at least 10minutes, more closer to half an hour.
Broadsword does this. Oynx does this. Does Devoter? Nope. So since you fail at reading, you also fail at understanding. I have alreaddy said in this thread that the Damage bonus should be replaced with a bonus that helps it in its role to lock down Supercapitals.

What are you on about? You don't get random crap like drones on you when you're in a fleet battle with a titan. People don't just put a few drones on you when youre tackling a titan.
also - fitting frig weapons as suggested earlier would probably be more efficient for taking out drones. Job done. Go home - nothing to see here

have i not posted a setup that tanks all 4 DDD is cap neutral and does more dps than an onyx can with HAM's you say that a devoter cannot when you fail to read or look at all the setups that are looking you in he face proving that they can. my devoter can have its med armor rep runnign with all its guns and hardeners and scram 23/7 it has 7k less effective hp than an onyx but tanks better than the onyx does with its passive tank.

I've yet to actually fly it, but am I the only one who would fill that with full Nos, full webbers+MWD, and the typical tanking bottom already described? Suck the cap and speed out of things around you, not just cap ships, and you've suddenly got 2-3 more easy targets for your fleet to mop up.
Seems silly to try and make it do both tackling, tanking, and damage and expect decent results. Go roll a nightelf if you want that. ---------

Good luck travaling 100km to a titan without MWD before it warps. I dont know many titan pilots that would be happy to uncloak in scram range of a hic. Most titan pilots uncloak DD and warp/recloak or they warp/jump in, DD and warp out/cloak.
Also, in sever danger, a titan pilot that is not 100 fully bubbled can get a carrier to warp to him at 0, thus bumping the titan out of dangers way. This has already happened once before where a carrier warped into a titan from the top going down and bumped it 50km away.

After reading this whole post, I can say two things; one: your posts, jonny, have irreversably lowered my IQ. Two: there is overwhelming evidence against your case. And one more thing... a Hic should never EVER EVER EVER EVER tackle a titan alone. There should be multiple carriers, dreadnoughts, and hundreds of non-capitol ships ready to move in when it gets locked down. And another thing, there would be multiple Hics (at least if you wanted a decent chance of succeeding). All Hics can be set up to survive the doomsday; however most would have a bit of trouble being primaried by... oh... the entire support fleet of the titan. Which usually includes multiple battleships, cruisers, frigates, and maybe even a carrier. Your fleet's job is to help keep it locked down as well as keeping people from shooting you into oblivion. Taking down a titan is a TEAM effort, a HiC set up specifically for tackling a titan should be able to do only that TBH; tackling the titan is much more important that 500, 1000, 1500, or whatever DPS you can think of. If you actually want to tackle the titan, you must adapt your fit for the SPECIFIC situation; you shouldnt have the wtfbbq ship that can tank all. You must learn that specialized ships which are then FURTHER specialized for tackling a SPECIFIC ship are usually gimped in all BUT doing what your are setting them up to do. Hm... that was a bit more than two things... oh well. Sorry for the wall of text people.

I never said it's not necessary; I wouldn't fly a non-MWD cruiser-sized ship anywhere much (which is why full passive broadsword setups are preety stupid imho). You are putting words in my mouth.
I am saying you are theorycrafting about Amarr HIC being inadequate in general, by putting them in situations where they're being neuted, smartbombed, droned, doomsdayed and 100km off.
What ship is NOT screwed in the scenarios you mention to make Amarr HICs seem bad specifically?
Furthermore, you are trolling; you ignore any arguments and setups which go against what you're trying to say. Also, you have no PvP experience to speak off and talk about tackling titans as if you were the font of knowledge on fleet battles. Which stinks of 'EFT-only warrior' to high-heaven, and you cannot balance ships around EFT-wars and theorycraft.

1. I have never said 1 hic vs titan is sensible. It was the anti-amarr brigade that said that. 2. I have stated what a titan tackler needs. It needs to be able to tank a doomsday, and be able to lock down a titan for as long as it takes. 3. Of course you need multiple titan tacklers. Thats the point 4. Ad hominem attacks inted of the point that the damage bonus on Amarr hic is wasted as amarr cannot fit lasers properly and maintain any sensible form of titan tackling.
I am afraid that you guys are making your own stuff up, such as assuming that titans happily uncloak if ifront of hics, and that hics somehow work alone.
I have never said Hics should work alone - Heck - you need dozens of them. But the Anti-Amarr brigade are the only people saying it and now they are pretending that I said it. Shame on you.
Devoter needs its damage bonus changed or lasers fixed so it can take advantage of it. Otherwise its a wasted bonus.

But Jojo thinks that you should be able to spot a passing Titan, tackle it solo, take out the support and wait till the fleet kills it, and you can't prove him wrong, naaah naaah ;)
Why would you tackle a titan solo? Only anti-amarr people think that a hic sould solo a titan. I cannot see why.

Which stinks of 'EFT-only warrior' to high-heaven, and you cannot balance ships around EFT-wars and theorycraft.
nope - what has happened is that the anti-amarr people have made stuff up and pretend I have said it. This is called STRAWMAN arguments. My point all along, if you read my posts is that Lasers stop the Amarr hic doing its job. They should fix lasers or fix devoter bonus to be in line with what a titan tackler should do.
So people post non-mwd setups, non-doomsday tank setups etc etc all to try and somehow prove that lasers are not broken, and by implication, that the damage bonus is valid on a Devoter. So is the Devoter damage bonus valid or invalid as the argument swings about so much between the Anti-Amarr people

Oh, they're not proper lasers now. Well, you can fit heavy pulses by reducing your tank a bit. At least you don't need to put a RCU II and train AWU IV/V like the Phobos to fit neutrons and anything else

JoJo, just a few words of advice.
Cpt Branko is very anti-amarr. He is also pro-nano even though its obviously broken.
Grimpak? Same thing. Along with a bunch of others like ablestrom. These guys have the vast majority of their post inside of amarrian issue threads calling the advocates "trolls."
Just be aware, these guys are trolls, they will not stop using circular reasoning and attacks such as those in my signature as long as people speak out about how gimped amarr are.
You are doing a good job. Like the devoter, there is absolutely no conceivable reason for it to have 1 less turret hardpoint than all the other HICs, its not really a defensible position. Yet people will argue about it non-stopped. I might not agree with 100% of what you say, but keep the issues alive man, more people agree with you than the LOUD whiney minority of trolls such as those listed above.

Edit: I must say I'm hardly pro-nano; I don't even own or fly a nano-ship at the moment (did previously though). I think it's a very valid and very counterable flying style though.
My fastest ship in the hangar (a semi-nano/semi-gank Cynabal, gift from a friend) does a very mediocre 2.7km/s; most of my ships go somewhere in the 1.55 (Cyclone) to 1.7 (Rupture) km/s region.
Full nano-ships I don't like to fly but they really don't worry me much; I know how to pilot my ships to fend them off at any rate. I literally don't understand what the fuss is about and what the hell are you talking when you say that FMP IIs track bad (which track preety much as good as 220s with barrage M, which track nano-ships just fine as long as you're not sitting there like a jerk).

Damage output of a HIC is irrelevant. Every HIC tanks better against a certain race of Titans than others, it's called variety. If you know you're facing a certain Titan then set up for it by choosing the RIGHT resists mods and if possible the corresponding HIC. If you don't know which Titan to tank against, then you're ****** anyway because that means they have more than one...and tanking against 2 different race Titans is kinda pointless anyway. All that can save you then is a good FC...which is 300% more important than your single ship anyway.

Anyway, so that this poast isn't just a troll, like a different one I am thinking about right now, Please explain to me why the amarrian HIC is the only one out of the bunch that deserves one less weapon hard-point fewer than any of its counterparts...
Oh btw, throwing the phobos out at every chance you get does not invalidate the devoter's underpoweredness next to the broadsword and the onyx. Help me out there, can those tank a DDD (of most any type) while still fielding a 1k DPS tank and doing more damage than the devoter? Does that tank make those ships handle worse than a battleship, further decreasing their value as tacklers?

The Broadsword can outdamage the devoter, the Onyx, not really. FMP IIs > HAMs on the Onyx. You don't know what you're talking about.
Plus, 1K DPS tanks on a Broadsword are typically w/out a injector+MWD+web. However, yes, the Broadsword is probably the best HIC.
Onyx/Phobos/Devoter are all preety much on par as has been conclusively proven in the thread, but, trolls refuse to listen to reason.

So, on the one hand you are following an idiot accusing me of something he doesn't comprehend, and then on the other you partake in this exact thing.
You can not dispute the accusation I have brought forth about grimpak showing up in most threads that are about amarr's current state, so instead you use an logical fallacy to attack the person and not the argument.
So, do you understand the fact that even if the damage output of the HICs is immaterial, that the devoter having 20% less weapon hardpoints than EVERY OTHER ONE is still a problem.... Assuming that each devoter is equally as well equipped to tank a racially opposite DDD (or even their own) without being overshadow by another (LOL) this weapon discrepency becomes even more apparent.

Outdamages the D180 AC Broadsword by 1 DPS using FMP IIs and is outdamaged by the Phobos (as it should be really, the Phobos has basically no range after fitting electrons, the only guns it can fit).
Onyx outdamages it with Kinetic, just noticed it myself.

Hey, you still didn't change those missiles to kinetic did you? Here I'll help you out.
ONYX w/ 5 HM IIs and T1 kinetic missiles : 195 DPS. Devoter w/ 4 FMPs and T1 ammo (MF) : 167 DPS (both ships now have locked damage types to utilize their bonuses =)
ok, so you used D180s, the lowest tier ACs, and still failed. 5 x d180s do 175 DPS.

Why not? Excuse me i realize you have a witchhunt going on here and you truly have my sympathy as the man gets on my nerves too.
In my opinion devoter is mainly fine and there are no real fitting problems as the op states. However they do have weapon hardpoints, don't they? Why would you not balance these among each other like you would do it with any other ship in this game? I truly doubt you can come up with a persuading answer.
Devoter should have 5 hardpoints. The reason why it hasn't is simple:
Other hics lose considerable damage output to drones which the devoter does not.
So there you have it. Case closed. Claiming however that the number of hardpoints is just irrelevant only because its not a main dps dealer is flawed. And i think you know that, don't you?

Look up. Ok, maybe you are more a mathematical minded fellow.
We can assume that for instance, a broadsword is b(x+a) and a devoter is c(x+a). (x+a) is tanking, c and B are their respective damage capabilities. Assuming, as stated earlier in this thread, multiple times, that the tanking for their roles is roughly the same, then c=b should also hold true. The fact that the devoter was singled out among the HICs to receive 1 less weapon hard-point than every other HIC is just a smack in the face to all amarrians (whats new though eh?)
Now if we can think of these ships outside of merely super-cap tackling, I think we can see how this imbalance is unjustified and should be fixed. If you are stuck inside of the box, well then sucks to be you. An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. |

or you can go other way: the Devoter equals the damage output of his T1 counterpart when considering lvl4 HIC skill. However it is the only one that can do more damage (not much more tho), than the T1 version.
anyways, yes, the guy gets on my nerves because they try to do everything on the ship, when it CAN'T do everything. Like the Onyx CAN'T do everything. Like the Broadsword CAN'T do everything. Like the Phobos CAN'T do everything. ---

or you can go other way: the Devoter equals the damage output of his T1 counterpart when considering lvl4 HIC skill.
Once again go back one page, read my reply and try to come up with a convincing reason why the devoter should be singled out for a reduction in weapon points. So, are you saying since the maller has pathetic damage output, we should design all maller hull class vessels to follow suit? Seems like pretty weak reasoning to me. Originally by: shinsushi Look up.
EDIT: one post up also used the same logic. I am not sure where the whole drone bay thing comes from though, he must be speaking in reference to other vessels because i do not see any drone bays on these ships. Lets not even get into cargo space (200m3 less??? wtf chuck?)
Devoter has 1 less turret than the rest of the HIC's.
however the RoF bonus tied to the HIC skill provides that the devoter does the same damage as a laser maller (not stellar, I must admit) at lvl4 HIC. same for the phobos compared to a droneless thorax. same for the broadsword compared with a droneless rupture. same for the Onyx, compared with a droneless carcal (Bit of a oddity here tho, seeing that the Onyx has the carcal bonuses but the hull of a moa).
it is also to admit that the Devoter is the only HIC that can outdamage the T1 version in wich is based, considering HIC skill at 5.
But damage in a HIC is not that much of an important thing, so I would rather go even quads on the damn thing if that would mean a better tank on it. ---

Don't play dumb please. Thorax for example has 50mŠ dronebay. Maller has 0. Devoter and Phobos both have 0. Now if you can't figure that out well then its not worth arguing here.

So, what you guys are asserting is that WITHOUT drones, those ships out-damage the maller, which doesn't have drones, and this in-turn makes it just fine and dandy to equally gimp the devoter?
What planet are you guys living on, seriously....
I know, lets nerf the hell out of the sacriledge, or the vaga because their T1 versions can't compare, or how about all of the command ships?
This line of reasoning makes no sense. It also does not give a good reason why, all other thing being equal, that the devoter should suffer from one less turret slot. Wu something above even pointed out that the onyx is not really based off of the moa for example, throwing this continuity through hull class theory of yours right out the window. eh?
what the hell?
I said that in terms of damage, the devoter actually does more damage than the T1 version in wich is based, not like the other 3 HIC's that actually do LESS damage than their T1 versions. ---

You claim devoter got screwed because it loses a turret hardpoint against a maller. So i extended this viewpoint comparing a thorax to a phobos. Phobos (applying just your logic here) loses 50mŠ of dronespace which is about 3 x the dps of a heavy pulse laser on the devoter (with no dmg mods).
So on what planet do you live? Its really simple.

And both of you are under the misconception that these ships should be balanced against the T1 hulls they are based off of, rather than the rest of the ships in class.
If such were the case, and an important aspect in ship design, why the switch in bonuses for the Paladin. Why does the sacrilege compare favorable to its counterparts, while its T1 hull does not against it's?
You guys are looking at it from a skewed point of view, something i have no clue what gave rise to. Ships are balanced against others in its CLASS and TIER. If you have to say it 100 times then do so, and understand that. Hulls are only hulls. There has still not been one compelling argument as to why the devoter deserves to have a weapon hard-point removed, making it the only HIC with 4 weapons rather than 5.
How about I propose one for you. In order to give the devoter a 5th hardpoint, CCP would have to consider boosting it's fitting to a point that would allow it to fit yet another 1600 mm plate, just to accommodate one more FMP II. That is at least a plausable explanation, of course it then would draw light on another issue that is seperate from this thread.

Hmm.... didn't we just prove, back one page, that the onyx does indeed do more DPS (195 vs 167)... I think we did. When using EFT, try to fit kinetic missiles on the onyx and you will see it does more damage.
how about we use the same skills to compare two ships? I know its a radical idea, but it just might take the pilot out of the equation..... all lvl 4s perhaps? I don't believe it will make much of a difference. This is bad logic brought about by people who lost arguments months ago, because they had nothing else to say. As soon as I see nothing but personal attacks and people complaining about EFT, I know I have won the argument, and that I am right. Thanks guys.

I think you are making a "Jonny JoJo"-argument there.
More on topic, I have no idea why you spend all that time whining about one of those Amarr ships that is actually quite decent.

Devoter is the best HIC at what it's supposed to be used for, holding down Super Capitals. It's DPS is pathetic, just like all the other HICs. Fly another ship if you want DPS.
Ignore Jonny JoJo and shinsushi so they can go back to jerking each other off and complaining about Amarr. There is absolutely no argument that will work against them, period.

Edited by: Bronson Hughes on 11/01/2008 15:13:52 Okay, this is a first for me. A second reply in a Jonny JoJo thread.
1. Devoter can do more DPS than it's T1 counterpart. All of the other ones do equal or lesser main weapon DPS and all of the others lose all of their drone DPS. In this respect, the Devoter is actually superior to the other Heavy 'Dictors. Now, whether or not it's T1 counterpart is gimped is an entirely different discussion.
2. The Devoter can maintain it's damage at range far better than the Phobos. It's about on par range-wise with an AC Broadsword. A HAM Onyx should slightly out-range it. This is consistent with the other racial ships. The same relationship should hold for long range weapons as well, although the Onyx is the only Heavy 'Dictor that has an easier time fitting long range weapons. But this is true of all missile ships, not just Heavy 'Dictors.
3. The Devoter can tank a DD blast just as well as any of the other Heavy 'Dictors. Plate it, crank its resists up, and you have a huge effective HP buffer. If you're going into a fight to tackle a Titan, you tank to match that Titan. Devoters obviously tank a Minmatar DD better than a Phobos would. A Phobos would tank a Caldari DD better than a Devoter. Rock, Paper, Scissors.
4. What the Devoter cannot do is fit an anti-DD tank (i.e. massive HP buffer) and a good, sustainable repper tank. The Phobos has a hard time with this as well. The Broadsword and the Onyx can, however, do this because their passive shield tank grants them high HP and high shield regen. But this isn't a Heavy 'Dictor issue, it's a tanking issue that applies to pretty much all ships in EvE.
5. The Devoter also has some cap issues, especially if it mounts a MWD. So does the Phobos. The Broadsword and the Onyx don't suffer as much from cap issues because of their capless weapons, but if they fit a MWD they lose a module for tanking which offsets the cap issues somewhat. This again is an issue with the races in general and not limited to Heavy 'Dictors.
So is the Devoter crap? No. Is it balanced relative to the other Heavy 'Dictors? As well we it can be given the racial differences in EvE.
Are there general game design issues that happen to manifest themselves very well with Heavy 'Dictors? You bet.

What if you get your extra turret hardslot eh? Then you'll complain only the more that it is not possible to fit good tank + mwd and 5 turrets, therefore they want grid increases. Then you say "OMG devoter sucks!!1 with 5 highest tier weapons and tank and mwd its cap runs out in like 1 minute, buff plx!!", so CCP will increase the cap of the ship...
The only reason devs never (rarely) post in in ships & modules is that whatever they may do to support the whiners, every problem they solve creates even more other problems. True some ships really do need an emergency checkup (AF, anyone?) but to give in to the Amarr whiners with the demands they are making now is like stealing candy from 3 kids just to keep the 4th happy.
Also, some arguments are just rediculous beyond belief. I thought it was JoJo saying that the ORE mining barges were an Amarr nerf? Seriously that sort of **** doesn't make any sense at all. Rather than seeing everything CCP does as an Amarr nerf, try also to look at the bigger picture, gameplay balance, look at it from both sides of the medal. You will see that what they do is never really imbalanced for either race. Also not to mention that being of a specific race does not compell you to use the races' ships (read Sarmauls guide to cross-training to see what I mean). Generally speaking, there is one ship for every situation (such as tanking for a specific DDD), and depending on the frequency of which the situation occurs, some races' ships may be more usefull overall than others. Does this mean that the entire race is broken? Far from it. ------------------------- When EvE Online meets Real Life

With one more turret slot, you could still fit five guns preety easy (with plenty of grid to spare) with a dual MAR + MWD + cap injector + interdiction module + 800mm RT plate. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

That argument is invald as you do not include full dps from other races. For example, a Damnation does caracel damage. Should a t2 BC do t1 cruier damage?
See the logical fallacy there?
Devoter has 4 turrets and has to use 2nd class weapons or civillian guns to fend doff enemy drones etc in the event of a attack. In the real world, alliances have multiple titans, so having a tank that can sustain a blast of any titan is required. You could get a avatar or a erebus or a ragarok blast if you fight bob, and in the future, most powerful alliances capable of supporting titans will have multiple types. So you cannot assume that you know what titan is going to DD you at a moments notice. Its like assuming that a raven will shoot wrath cruise at you.
The Devoter shows the problems with crazy broken amarr lasers. CCP need to fix that ASAP or pump up the devoter or remove the devoter laser damage bonus and replace it with something useful.

Yes I do. I was comparing the damage output of a set of T2 cruisers relative to their T1 counterparts. These values should be expected to be roughly equal given that all of the T2 ships fill the same role and are based on the same types of ships. You're comparing the damage output of a Fleet Support Command Ship with a T1 cruiser that it's not based on. (BTW, the Damnation actually does more damage than the Caracal) The fallacy is yours.
Also, how did I not include the full DPS of the other races? Aside from drones and ship-board weapons, what other source of DPS is there?
There's also the little part where I said:
Originally by: Bronson Hughes Now, whether or not it's T1 counterpart is gimped is an entirely different discussion.
I'm staying away from whether or not the Maller is on par with the Thorax or the Moa or the Rupture because that's a whole other discussion. I'm here to talk about the Devoter compared to other Heavy 'Dictors.
Originally by: Jonny JoJo The Devoter shows the problems with crazy broken amarr lasers. CCP need to fix that ASAP or pump up the devoter or remove the devoter laser damage bonus and replace it with something useful.
All of the problems you have with the Devoter seem to be based on it's Amarrian design. So really, you seem to have a problem with Amarr, not just the Devoter. This is fine, just realize that before you keep complaining that the Devoter is broken and focus instead on complaining about Amarrian design in general.
And just out of curiosity, how do you feel about my points 2-5? Or my conclusions? -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

I wanted to bring this back to our OP just for giggles and then point out the things we've added:
Survability to all 4 types of DDD without refitting. Ability to fit top end guns regardless if it could, you woudln't, and would instead put on more tank. Fit MWD. Permarun every but the MWD without cap charges (well not perma, but more than 10 minutes).
Is that everything? Just wanted to clarify.
I am awaiting your top range guns + DD tank + mwd that can run everything without cap charges/booster/rigs setup. Heavy Pulse use a lot of cap and fitting I hear.
Oh wait - this is Devoter we are taking about - not Onyx/Broadsword!
Im missing the phobos in that line up....I wonder why? _________________________________________________ Breetime

It does not, in fact, require AWU at all.
Sounds like excellent frig dps there.
If it had 5 guns, it'd quite definitely outdamage the Onyx and *most likely* the Broadsword, with FMP IIs. You *can* fit Heavy Pulses but it requires compromises. If you added just one more gunslot on the Devoter, it'd be preety damn awesome. I'd say it'd be the best HIC around if it weren't for the fact that guns are preety irrelevant on it.
Interestingly enough, Heavy Pulses II are much easier to fit on the Devoter then, say, Heavy Neutrons are on a Phobos (would require a RCU II really). Devoter fitting is completely fine.

The phobos is missing from that line up because passive tanking is good for precisely this application. Not because the phobos/devoter is bad.

Ok,
What about this for a purely defensive setup (given that a MWD/AB on a HID is 90% less effective with the bubble on).
Highs: Heavy Disrpution Field Gen I Proto Cloack (Optional) Empty Empty Empty Empty
Mids: Medium Electro Chem Booster + 800s Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II
Lows: MAR II MAR II Thermic Energized Energized Adapative Nano Energized Adapative Nano 1600mm RT 1600mm RT
Rigs: CCC Trimark Armour Pump
17K Armour without implants and 85%(mostly better) Resists with decent skills (at least lvl 4 compensations).
You need max fitting skills to get this all on. Its a purely defensive setup as your giong to be primary every time vs. MS/Titan and you want to be able to last more than 10 seconds against an avergage fleet.
I tanked 25 hostiles in BC or larger ships with 15 fighters for 6 minutes with no cap problems and still had half armour when i jumped out (mainly cos i was the only one left!! )
The tank on this thing is sick i totaly agree it needs "Something" as its not as good as the phobos, at least that can tank and still do damage .

Hey johnny! Good to see your other trollthread got locked! How about this one?
Johnny, its basicly this way, OR you try to max your skills in amarr (and, more important, LEARN to fly them. You really should stop eft right now and log into eve. I bet you cant fly the ships your whining about anyway, can you?), OR train up for another race and see how 'overpowered' they are...
Its just a simple question, or whine how bad your gear and your skills are, or train up your skills and train up other race skills. But dont come here and whine, like your doing alllllllllll the time atm. Nice hamster! - Mindstar Thanks! We wont touch this sig! - Cortes I lied - Cortes LIAR! |

Wrong. I fly amarr with my alt and i dont have any problems at all, so im wondering what gone wrong. I have a suggestion for you, this isnt your channel, you should go to the skills channel and try to find out where you failed.
Yeah im a bit emotional, and? At least im not 11 years old and trying to understand something my brains arent big enough for.
If you have a opinion on a ship (like in your case, amarr needs beef there, amarr this sucks, amarr that sucks, etc etc), you want to be able to prove your statements with facts or calculations, not "because eft/spreadsheet/whatever told me" (that is what you apperently are doing, you said it yourself). You fail at making ANY FORM of proof or sensible reaction on what your trying to show us. If your not smart enough to realize that yourself, you probaly have as much brains as you have balls, none.
Do i have to remind you gallente are also pretty cap-heavy with alot of ships? Another fail on your part.

On a slightly different matter, but still on topic, since when does it actually matter what dps a HIC does? Since it's bound to be in a gang with actual heavy hitters.
And also, you really think theoretical dps of 190 vs theoretical dps of 150 actually makes a difference? Really?

All cown's pvp is sitting on a gate or station and watching idiot people orbit him like npc in web range. This means he can use dual cap booster and plate buffer and does not need MWD. Thats basically his vids summed up. Station hugging and docking when in danger to repair is not exactly Amarr pvp at its best.
Amarr suck at "dogfighting" style pvp. Cown does not dogfight - he just sits on docking range and kills anyone silly enough to attack him npc style. Most of his kills are npcers as well.

It is not funy. A Player that uses his own advantage to overcome a enemy in battle is smart. You are complining about things that Amarr canŠt do. Not because you are not seeing that Amarr have advantages in other aspects but because you like to troll on Forums.
Cown is a big Name if it comes down to Amarr PVP because of his Actions. Not because of Forumtrolling. I respect him aswell I respect Frinds that realy own with Amarr Ships. The only thing I donŠt respect are people like you that only big on Forums without any in game contend and using Trolling Alts.
Sitting in docking range killing anything silly enough to attack in a npc setup a dual capbooster abaddon who is ready to redock as soon as any danger happens is not exactly "big name pvp". I mean, a moros can do that as well even better
Again you owned yourself by calling a Dual Cap Booster Setup NPC. BTW a Morus canŠt (oh wait this was was your the Moros is overpowert Thread). Actualy I can simply kill the Drones. Cown is far over you simply becaue he know what to do with a Amarr Ship!
Nope - please re-read the sentence I wrote. I am refering to the victims using npc setups. Cown uses docking range setups that are compleatly unviable outside the station due to the way his buffer works

You do relise the irony in your comments, since if nobody complained when Amarr used to be overpowered, then we would all be flying Amarr just now, and you would be telling some Gallente to consider training for Amarr insted of the other way around

How can you have 8 pages of EVERYBODY IN EVE disagreeing with you, INCLUDING fellow Amarr pilots, yet you still continue to argue the validity of your complaint.
TBH, you are either the worst pilot ever, or the best troll ever. Props either way. _____________________________________________________________________________

Play EvE a bit. The comment about not being able to hit a webbed Typhoon, for example, strikes me as total lack of piloting knowledge, because that's what it is really. You need to learn how to fly your ships.

Dude - Watch his video yourself. He was redocking when in danger and sitting in dock range attacking players who where dumb enough not to redock. His kills were idiots who would attack to attack a non-mwd, dual capbooster abaddon which was plated up. He would only use it in situations where he could redock before it died, so he could repair up. You can see him several times stopping fire to redock after a cheap gank.
Killing npcers who havent a clue about docking mechanics is not exactly proof that Amarr race as a whole is not broken. I am not saying Cown is a noob - In fact - if cown was at a gate fighing with the same tactics, he would have died. Cown does different tactics for different situations. It is you that thinks that station undock tactic is viable everyware in eve.
Again, since you are making stuff up - I am refering to the victims as NPCers who havent a cluse about docking combat tactics. I never have said cown is a npcer, you made that up because you never read properly what I wrote.
You can do the same tactics in a torp raven or moros as well. In fact, pilots ued to use moros in seige to wtfpwn whole gangs though station docking rules before they stop people docking in seige.

You are aware that seige docking only got removed because people complained about moros 'impossible to break in 30 second' agression cooldown tank, and the phoeix's 1 volly most battleships as they undocked?

I loled quite hard, it still hurts. Now a Phoenix to that one volly BS? Serios this Dreads are at every Station in Low Sec and 0.0 and kill any kind of Ship that undocks. Oh wait they are not. Simply because they canŠt and this is why people donŠt do that.
And still you fail to recognize why putting a Dread in Sige Mode at a station is pure fail.

Please read eve forums of a year ago when you used to be able to dock when in seige. Then meant sensor boosted pheonix's could camp undock point and 1 volly bs's as they undocked. This is very real and was the reason why CCP removed dthe abilit to dock while in seige. Please stop making yourself look as uninformed as the amarr designer, and do your research first. You do relise the damage output of a seiged torp volley, dont you?

Jonny JoJo, instead of ranting on the forums and bithin about every post why don't you try and figure something out, all races get shanked in some way, I am Gallente I know, and being cross trained for Amarr i can see there flaws as well. But with all these posts it seems you spend more time on the forums than actually finding a solution in the game. Every problem in EVE has a way around it may seem very non-conventional but it works.
Also from the sounds of this you seem to want a ship thats nearly impervious to everything, ain't gonna happen. I know people as well who fly Devoters and they haven't had any problems with tanks and being able to hold there own ground. Yes, i love stating my opinion... because people don't like it! |

as seeing that people actually put some setups in this thread (which should be cleaned up a bit CCP, btw), can I ask you guys to put out 2 gatecamp setups ? with both mwd/non-mwd thingie ? I am not interested in tanking titans, just in being able to do gatecamps with it (so resisting a moderate gang for a while) and maybe put up a bit of damage, if possible, but with prio on the first one. Pletty please ?:)
Thankyou.
