- Drones - dump em or fix the net code so they take as much processing time and bandwidth as the client that is controlling them's ship. Having 5 extra ship's on the screen to send net info about is just not 'optimal' any more. Cut em out or optimize them. Heck, why not make it ONE drone per ship with 5 or 6 sizes of drone rather than 5 separate. This would clearly reduce server load.
- stations having only one exit ??? Are you kidding us? You can dock from ANY angle, why not undock from any angle (randomly selected)? I don't care if you 'kick' people out from stations, just ejected them all in a random direction so we don't have to suffer the clobber of 99 CNRs undocking on top of us. Its not a 'tactic' to undock behind someone, its a 'game mechanic' by which we all agree means its probably a 'dumb' idea / no thought at all invested in it
After that, its really simple stuff that needs some TLC like Assets, give us the ability to sort by 'distance' for 'All assets so people don't fly off 33 jumps only to see they were one jump away from something, it was just in a different Region.
Heck, get that darned 'delivery' service implemented for purchases as well please. I'd pay %5 delivery charge on top of a purchase for it to make its way to somewhere I want it. Or didn't the concept of a 'postal' service survive the 'e-mail' era?
Oh and while I'm venting my spleen, give us the ability to 'block' people in local. Some people have nothing to say, others do. Would love the ability to put a-holes on a 'do not listen' list :-) Might even hamper ISK sellers.
I'll check back to see if I'm way off base with these wish list / ideas via the constructive comments from my peers that'll follow

Completely agree with the station undock and more options for asset management.
Can't you already right-click block people?

Heh, that gives me an idea so heres my own vent about that. It really probably is the main reason of fleet lag actually, having a bazillion drones humming about all with their own tracking/optimal/orbit statistics that have to be sent back to the server. As drastic as it sounds I feel you're right with the notion to have them dumped altogether. How this would be done fairly and accurately wouldn't be too complex in execution either. Say a system gets hot with some serious war going down, a newly implemented code feature that monitors stress load will kick in. And in true eve manner a sly message pops up saying that drone bandwith is becoming unstable with too much output or somethin and that due to the static all drones must be redocked or face being powered down. A timer goes off, pilots start rebaying their drones and the battle resumes with normal guns instead. Any ship that uses fighter drones would be the execption to this timer of course.

Telling CCP to "go and optimize drones already" because they cause lag is just about identical with telling your car to "go and sprout wings already" while stuck in a traffic jam. AKA if it was possible, the problem would have long been solved.
Unless you can come up with a revolutionary new idea, then I doubt it's possible

Edited by: Wreth Saran on 19/01/2008 19:34:33 To be honest I think the server just needs to be bloody upgraded to accommodate all these improvements that CCP is making on all the areas of the game, I mean once the environments and ambulation hits, I just really hope they're prepared for it.

Ok, so basicly take away most of the gallente dmg, nice move, where as gallente were one of the races to be in pvp, this is no longer as they wouldn't be able to use drones in fleet battels. Some of us speced in drones only, my gun skills and missles are very bad. Drones are an effective primary wep for alot of people. For instence I can sit in a myrmidon with 3 sentrys and snipe for 270 dps, at over 120km, if you take our drones away in fleet battles, then we as a race lose 1/2 our effectiveness, drones have had the crap beat out of them with the nerf bat, leave them alone,

Slow your roll pal.
Did I not use the word "drastic" in my response. I merely made an expansion on how dumping drones could be executed in a fashion that would be easy to implement. Of course I know the implications in terms of damage. Theres a thing called sacrifice and until the technology improves it looks like the solution to fleet lag will include some of it. Dont hold your breath that it can be magically solved through a simple bit of code anytime soon.
