As we all know, we can login in here on the website, select my character and see what skill I'm training. How hard can it be to make it possible to actually set the skill? What in the world is the problem by giving that functionality.

Character farming and CCP wants people to play the game.
Some of the reasons stated by CCP in the 4 years (soon 5) this suggestion have been brought up.

well then make it only possible for players that are NOT trial and have more than 1 month of ingame playing time for example. There are sollutions to those problems. We play the game, a lot, and if we could we would play it from work but since we're behind a corporate firewall and cannot use a proxy or vpn, the only thing that we can do is login on the website. There we can read the forums, buy stuff in the WTS forum or sell it, look at my skills, download market logs etc... so it's not a matter of playing the game. CCP can make it as secure as hell and what with character farming/building, I do not believe it will bring more isk or item sellers or macro mission runners, miners or haulers than there are already. Isk sellers and GTC's are a problem, setting skills on a website is not gonna change that.

The dev's have said no, they want people to log into the game, they also do not want some to write a training management program that automates the changes. If you do a search (eve-search) you will find a large number of threads discussing it and the dev responces.
Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congrated by carebears for the actions. |

lol
as if that's not yet the case duh a macro that starts the client, logs in, change the skill and logs out. The tools already exist. And I do not agree with them let met state that. But the argument you use doesn't keep up cause these things are already done. There are still more people that work and cannot login during their working day but could set a skill through the website. I still believe the idea should be revisited.

It's always the same... "you should log in and play" : Logging in and switching a skills isn't playing.
"you should not give your login and password to anyone else" : But we all do it when we can't switch skills! Or people can use a macro which is even worse.
"farmers farmers farmers" : When you make money of something, you have the time for it. Farmers make sure that their business is efficient. Legit players do not have the time for it and usually work or study, so, they just can't have time for it. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

I'm so frustrated with this game being difficult to enjoy because of people who abuse the system.
@CCP If char farming is a problem, fix it - punishing players is NOT a fix. If you want players to "actually play", too bad. We have lives and jobs. We love your skilling system because we don't have to spend 40+ hours playing per week to enjoy EVE.

And for those who say "oh noes teh toon farmers!!", I say this... Show me the math that makes toon farming profitable in Eve under subscription prices.
Now I know you can buy GTC with ISK (which is completely wrong CCP, but that's another rant), but it's still piddly money. |
