Eve is a fun game and I've had it a month, but the truth is I don't log into windows enough to train skills. The Linux intaller ****s out when launched, please fix or I've have to stop payment on that subscription.. Windows has no future except for games.
Sure there is a Linux section, but no-one posts how they actually got the game running!!!!!!

At the risk of responding to a troll what distro are you using, when (if) the Linux client supports the Trinity graphics I'm ditching my windows partition, had some minor quibles with it but no major issues, installer is prety self explanitory tbh.

I wonder, do you know how to ask politely about something?
This post of yours, with particularly your post header is quite stupid, impolite and in my opinion offensive. And if you cant be polite in your questions, I certainly wont miss you if you leave.
CCP have made EVE available for two distros. For Mac and for Linux. This is rare. It also have a support service coming with it. On forums and on help channels. If you are too lazy looking into your own case, why should CCP running their feets off to support you directly??
Either get your case together, in a serious manner, or get out of here. Threats about quitting if CCP dont do as you say is childish as best.

No seriously. There are many people who are using the linux client successfully. There must be something wrong with you or your linux if you cannot get it to work.
What I say in these situations. Just switch to windows if linux is too complicated for you.

And there in lies the Linux problem.
I can't really have your stuff.
Your stuff probably won't compile in my Kernel. Because I don't have the "wushi wushi" mod to X that's only available from the Angel Majick server, and even then I have to know the answer to the riddle "Why does this guy call himself Neo?" and then type that into an unlinked url so that I can down the reverse-pgp encrypted mod unlocker.
Even then I would probably need to know what they are calling "Homebrew" this week.
So keep your Linux, keep your stuff and never bother me again. -- Death of an insidious dictator Birth of a new one

Take 3 guesses what kind of software EVE is. Or what the 2nd largest use of PC's (not the operating system, the machine itself) is for your common average household that the main consumer market is aimed for.
Not everyone uses their PC for research or home office administration. You are the minority here friend, so you won't be missed.

Heh it's called package dependency resolution and it's been supported for quite a while now, oh and GPG and MD5 verification is performed automatically, you probably knew that though, but as they say never let the truth get in the way of a good troll...

And you dont even have to have a bad luck when installing software outside the package repository that the automatic dependency resolution is not able to find suitable packages to fit the need.
If you have even worst luck, the library needed has to be a different version used by your distribution resulting a complete mess.
I have seen this more than one time.

You nub. Linux doesn't have stuff unless you've applied the Fandabbydosy firestorm patch. Even that it has to be version 6.1.3.0.7 or 6.1.4.5. Of course everyone knows that 6.1.3.1.* corrupts all your stuff.

I have seen this more than one time.
Not trying to start an argument and bring this topic further off topic (was it ever on topic to start with), but If you manually update your libraries outside of the package manager and expect there not to not to be consequences You are an idiot, the package managers there for a reason, use it...
Upgrading libraries outside of your package manager is a stupid stupid thing to do as your pretty much guaranteed to break all the dependices on your system packages (it's like deleting your .dll files in windows and replacing them with third party crap). You should have recompiled the app for your libraries version, if it depends on some broken 2 year old library you can install compatibility libraries and update your include directive again via package management.
[root@fedora ~]# yum list compat-lib* Available Packages compat-libf2c-34.i386 3.4.6-7 fedora compat-libgcc-296.i386 2.96-138 fedora compat-libgda.i386 1.2.4-1.fc7 fedora compat-libgda-devel.i386 1.2.4-1.fc7 fedora compat-libosip2.i386 2.2.2-13.fc7 update
Never assume your smarter then your package manager, cause your not.
