Edited by: Rod Steel on 26/01/2008 09:48:17 Edited by: Rod Steel on 26/01/2008 09:47:53 I have a realtek c97 chip on my motherboard, everything in the game is fine, except I get no ship engine noise whatsoever. All other sounds work perfectly, including warp etc. Anybody else have this issue? I haven't played for about 6 months, so unless they removed all engine sounds from the game, I could use any input anyone might have. Thanks for any/all replies.
PS...nice job on the new graphics btw.

Me too - 2nd day after Trinity I lost engine sounds (not warp) and all my weapon sounds.
Odd that I initially had them - and I've seen this problem on a mate's machine too - had sounds, then sounds became intermittent, then all ship sounds lost.
I feel I need sounds so I get audio feedback on what my weapons are actually doing.

same here but i cant say when the bug was introduced.
using the onboard sound of a nforce4 mobo (realtek acl850) with quite old (nvidia) drivers and no official update... but i could look for others, if the drivers are confirmed to be the problem...

I have the same problem. From the moment I switched to the new engine (on day 1 of the Trinity launch) the sounds were gone. When I switch back to classic everything is normal again. I now play in classic even though I can easily run the new engine, I rely on those sounds for feedback and sound is just as important to me. I also noticed that the ambient sounds in the stations are missing, at least the Caldari ones, Amarr stations seemed fine, how weird is that?
I have an onboard Realtek High Definition Audio chipset and I've updated all drivers to the latest available version, including the sound drivers.
Please acknowledge that there is something wrong here. Even though hundreds of people are not reporting about it doesn't mean that it isn't there, thank you.

No more engine sounds?! Doesn't sound like a bug to me, but a new, and much welcomed feature. I personally hated the engine sounds. _________________________________ CEO of DeepSpaceVentures Mining/Industry/PVP/PVE 3+ Mil SP Good Space in Querious Region Multiple systems to rat and play in. |

So when something is not right it's easier to "disable" it than actually fixing it? Not everyone thinks like you.
May I also suggest that you never go back to classic mode for whatever reason that may be, because you will hear your beloved engine sounds again and go mad!

Edited by: Salia WinterDrake on 26/01/2008 23:05:22 There seems to be an issue with some versions of the RealTek AC97 audio chips, motherboards that use them, and Eve.
The best thing to do is go to your motherboard manufacturer's website or Realtek's website and download the latest audio chipset drivers for your motherboard/onboard sound card.
There's also a sticky here: RealTek Audio Patch
Have a read and see what you think... it may or may not solve a Realtek problem.
I've got a Realtek onboard sound chip aswell (older motherboard), and I don't think I get engine noise either, but luckily its not crashing me either.

I downloaded and installed the latest drivers: Realtek Semiconductor Corp. 5-12-2007 5.10.0.5523
Luckily I also never had crashes.
The thing is, it's working perfectly in classic mode but not when you turn the enhanced graphics on. And if you go back to classic after that then it's okay again. This is in my eyes a bug and not just with the engine sounds, but people notice this the most.
I understand that there will always be problems and that there are other issues that have a higher priority, I just want someone to acknowledge that "yes" this sound issue(s) exists and it is noted.

I also installed this patch: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=74ad4188-3131-429c-8fcb-f7b3b0fd3d86
Restarted the pc, started EVE and enabled the premium graphics, restarted EVE.
To no avail, still no ambient station sounds (Caldari, can others who have this problem verify the other stations please) and indeed no engine sounds whatsoever (normal cruise speed).

Same issue here. I haven't played for about 6 months.. installed the premium client.. no engine sounds. Not many ambient sounds. (I still get the voice and music)
Also the warp is seriously weird.. I get the 'tunnel' graphics come up right away, and there's no 'bang' when warping.
If i switch to classic mode, absolutely everything works fine (sfx and gfx).
How come CCP don't comment here? Is this listed on a 'known issues' thread somewhere yet?

Yup, the same for me Just installed Trinity after a longer absence from EVE, and sadly there were a lot of sound missing (including engine sounds). Question is, is it only RealTek AC97 that has the problem. I.e. if I buy a new sound card, will it fix the issue?
It DOES work with the "old" graphics, but now when I have seen the new I am reluctant to go back just because of the engine sounds (Although I DO miss them)..

Hi. This is a known issue which has been fixed on our test servers. The fix will be deployed to Tranquility with next patch.

Thanks for the update. Any word on when this next patch will occur? Having engine sounds and station sounds greatly helps the immersion feel!
