Ok, I am sure this has been answered before but for the life of me I cannot find it. So if this is answered in another thread feel free to point me there instead of answering.
How does the Base Material Multiplier work?
Does it affect only minerals?
OR
Does it also affect T2 components?
Thanks in advance

It works and it effects everything.
It's multiplier... you multiply the regular amount with it. So 1.1 modifier means 10% extra and 0.85 means 15% off.
EDIT: For few arrays it's 1 (stays the same). For most it's 10% extra and rapid assembly array is 20% extra.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought but I could have sworn in the past I had read that the penalty was only on minerals, thus making it not as bad. Wanted to make sure my spreadsheet was correct.

It affects every material that is affected by waste, which is, depending on the blueprint, not every material.
Building 10 internal nanofiber II in a rapid assembly array for example won't need 11 nanofiber I because of the 20% assembly waste.
Minerals up to Morphite are generally affected; T1 items, RAMs and Tradegoods are generally not affected, T2 components depend on the print(type). -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

Generally raw materials should be affected by the assemblyline multiplier and and extra materials should never be affected by waste at all.

IIRC that's how it works for the waste on invented BPCs relative to T2 BPOs, but the extra waste from rapid arrays means, for example, that a module needing 5 T2 components in a normal slot will instead need 6.
I think it's rounded down per item built, not over the whole job. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Edited by: Aeryn Davenport on 28/01/2008 21:12:21 RAM is never effected, the base tech1 item is never effected and trade goods are USUALLY not effected but the one exception to that is construction blocks in ship construction. For some reason the amount of construction blocks needed is effected. I've never seen the trade goods effected in module construction though.
Minerals and tech2 components are effected. However, some modules have such a small amount of tech2 components required that the effect is pretty minimal if not non-existent.
