Hey discussion topic.. Do you bleive ECM and Damps are in balance with each other.. A buddy of mine uses his scorp to jam up 3-4 enemy at a time with great results, and I have seen the Rook and the Sin deliver a similar result. Compare this with the Arazu, Lachesis, Celestis and imho there is a docnnect of sorts. The damp ships can make life difficult for 1 opponent (long lock times, maybe the need to close range to get a lock) or be an annoyance to 2 opponents.
Interested to hear all opinions especially given the buff (ECM)/ nerf (DAMP) that transipred in the TRINITY rollout.

ECM is chance based. Damps are not. if u cant lock at least 2 ships down with 3-4 damps ur doing soemthing wrong. train up caldari cruiser to 4 get in a blackbird and fit some jammers and find that with very low skills u suck at jamming anything less then 10% effectivness to a BS to jam him. now train gallente cruiser 4 get T2 damps and warp in at range and use lock range scripts and u cna lock some stuff down permaently.
there are like 4-5 ECM skills to make them effective and there is 1 for damps. Think urself lucky u dont ahve alot of rank 3,4 skills to train to 4 and 5.
Best thing about this game if u think ECM is uber then train caldari cruiser 4, the blackbird is like 80% effective as the caldari recons and costs like what 6-10 mil full fit.
Your mate that can lock down 3 BS's also turns inot a grey puff of smoke when 1 of his jammers fail. where as the damps still keep clicking away -------------------------------------------------- It is not what u are underneath, but what you do that defines you |

Well, damps did get overnerfed with respect to damp-specced ships. 5% bonus should be 10%, problem solved. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

I dont think after the script addition that damps should get a strength boost. Finally ECM is worth 'considering.' In the past it was the laughing stock of eve. Now ECCM is pretty much in that category by itself, well maybe along with the skill 'Multitasking.'
(in the past 2 months I have actually found a need for multitasking but you know what I mean)
Originally by: Zhulik I thought Premium graphics were supposed to fix that bug where people were trying to salvage Minmatar ships.

Even a moderately skilled can perma jam anything smaller than a bs, and ECCM is basically worthless on anything sub-capital when facing a rook/falcon. If you're sufficiently skilled, the chance portion of ECM becomes a non-issue, but a guaranteed disablement much like damps used to be.
And I really think the inverted signal field projector should be bumped back up to 10%. On my lachesis with all pertinent damps/ship skills at lvl4, the rig only moves my damps' effectiveness from 51% to 53%, hardly worthwhile in my opinion.

I reckon the ECM was better than Damps before the buff / nerf.. now a single ecm ship is good to remove 3 or 4 enemy from a fight for a reasonable time frame.. and the king pin of all is ecm has no counter once u are jammed.. where as if u get damped just activte MWD and select approach target.. problem solved or alternatively choose a closer target..
ECM is not slightly better.. ECM is WWAAAAAYY better than damps. This said iam not neccessarily saying i want that changed..lol

That ecm has possible counters: high sensor strength, ECCM, remote ECCM.
Sensor boosters don't help that much against dampeners, do they ?
So, damos take out one or two enemies reliably. ECM takes out three to four unreliably. That's the balance.
