There is no easy answer to this.
Most items can be sold for more than they an be reprocessed for. There are some items that are so undervalued that it makes more sense to reprocess them and also because the amount of orders you can have is limited the profit margin isn't big enough to warrant the loss of an order slot (Depends on your trade skills). Also your skills effect quite a bit how much minerals you'll get. You need 6.67 standing with the station owner and Scrap Metal Processing 1 to get maximum amount of minerals with reprocessing.
If you want to just get rid of your stuff quick you can take them to hub system like Jita, Amarr, Rens or Oursulaert. But you'll notice that the price tend to be quite low there due to competition and if you sell directly to the buy orders you'll usually make less money than putting the item up on the market, but then again it'll tie up one of your market slots and you'll have to compete with other sellers.
People are lazy and they want to buy stuff at their current location. So finding places that have little supply, but high demand would mean you can ask for ridiciously high prices and sell your products rather quickly. Because people tend to look for these things usually where there is demand will be supply sooner or later and thus the prices will drop and the best place to sell stuff tends to move a lot.
If you sell at lower traffic system than the hub systems it can take quite long before the item sells if it even does. It's quite like real world where people might go to that closest shop because they're lazy and pay 200% extra or travel few kilometers to visit that closest Walmart with low prices.
It all depends... There is no easy answer. Compare the profit you make from reprocessing to the value of the item. Compare the regions and find where you can get best price for what. And after that make a decision if all the trouble that is needed to fetch the best price is worth it or would you make more by doing missions and just selling all the stuff quickly.
For a beginner it's just easy to take the stuff to hub system and sell to the buy orders ... But is that the best way? Also you have to think about hauling all the stuff... it can be quite time consuming. Maybe the item would sell at the local market in the time it takes to haul it? Maybe even for better price? Which is easier for you... reprocessing is the easy mode... minerals always sell quick, but the money probably is only fraction what you could be making.
Judge yourself and atleast take a look at the hub system prices... You don't really want to reprocess that 20 million module to earn 1 million.

Keep it for the future. It's not worth much money, but will be very convenient when you need to fit out a new ship and don't want to warp 10 jumps to a market hub just to buy the one module you need.

Right click on each item....select view market details.
Look at the buy orders (what people are willing to pay you for it).
Look at the sell orders (the lowest of these is about what you can expect if you put up a sell order).
Pick the items that you think will get you a decent price and put up a sell order (use the advanced tab) at just less than the lowest sell order (this means that you'll be the cheapest and the first person peole buy from).
If the buy order price is good, then just right click and sell (without the advanced tab).
If you can't get a decent price, put it in your hanger and leave it there until:
1) you have decent refining skills, or 2) you have a load of them and put up an order for all of them at once.
As was stated earlier, if you don't have good trade skills, you'll be very limited on the amount of sell orders you can put up. Don't waste a sell order on a poor profit item. My personal limit used to be if it's not worth 50,000 ISK, then it's not worth an order. I've revised that several times now and rarely waste an order on an item (or group of items) for less than 1,000,000 ISK.
Cheers Falka
